This game could be a real relegation battle with Tyrone facing Cavan next  whilst Monaghan have Kerry
Monaghan's home win against the Dubs could prove vital as I don't see us getting much out of Croker on the 16th March though Monaghan have to go to Kerry yet.

Tyrone really seem to be labouring since the start of the league and it's hard to know is it lack of fitness, style of play, no plan B as we try to run everything or some discontent within the panel. The easy thing to say is that it's only February and they don't give a fiddle about the league and its all about being fit for late July and August like Kerry, Mayo and the Dubs do every year.

Monaghan always raise their game against their neighbours and recently have been got over any fear of Tyrone when playing in Ulster. With a few new players brought in this year, Monaghan too will be very hopeful of winning back the Ango Celt as they're in the easier half of the draw again.

Captain Obvious

Mayo were out of the championship in June last summer and Kerry's extra fitness didn't do them much good last July.

Hound

Not that Colm Cavanugh is not super player, but playing a few games without him is a great chance to develop an attacking running game, with half backs driving on like Dubs and Mayo (and Kerry seem to be going that way too). Tyrone have some great athletic players , with power, pace and who can play ball, that should thrive in that system.

But just kicking too many wides. In particular, if you don't have a reliable freetaker, then you're fighting an uphill battle.

Will Morgan be fit to play after that belt he got at the end of the Roscommon match?

Fuzzman

Doubt it, he took a huge hit and was totally unprovoked. Still he took one for the team and saved us a point.
He looks like he's kicked on a bit and has more composure and confidence now with the frees. He still attempts some very tough ones though.

Hound, we have a lot more issues that kicking a few wides. In all our games in 2019 we have struggled to get the ball into our forwards and make it stick. Teams are wise to our one dimensional tactic and so they fight blanket with a thicker tog quilt. Occasionally playing Petey Harte at FF has totally backfired in my eyes and I'd like to see Richie Donnelly back in there if fit.

A win this weekend and another v Cavan will have us sitting nicely mid table but Galway at home will be a tough one and Dubs away on 16th March will be another no show by us I'd say.

seafoid

Monaghan had a great first day against the Dubs but didn't follow it up
Hard to know how bad Tyrone are. They could easily turn up the next day.
And sure it's only the league.

That's some take if it's the incident where Ultan Harney pushed Morgan in the chest and Morgan went down holding his face!

brutal tyrone team on paper. hardly a forward named among them.

the goal was on

Don't worry that's not the team, probably not even the squad based on last few selections . Few changes and positional switches on sat. Gone are the days Mickey give the real team

13 of that team started in All Ireland semi final against Monaghan last summer so can't be that brutal.

Has Ben McDonnell ever played at wing back before or did he just pick the first 15 that came into mind and let them choose where ever they want to play.
Judging by the way we've played so far I couldn't be arsed making the journey up from Dublin to watch more crab football.
Wonder how much Monaghan will use the mark this time and do Tyrone have a plan to stop it.
We seemed to have all sorts of problems with knowing what to do when a mark is called.
The defenders dont want to back away now as the player can play on and maybe go for a goal or if they stand and block him the ref can move it forward.

What's the odds on Morgan scoring another from play this week?

Fuzzman cannot believe you have lost faith in team.

southtyronegael

Fuzzman I'm not surprised you have lost faith in the team.
