Sensible thing to do.

It's a good thing to see a final without the 'big two', but is it sensible for this game to go ahead at all, the way things seem to be heading?
Seems very likely this new strain of the virus is in Ireland and it's 70% more transmissible.
I can see all sporting activity being banned.

If this final wasn't played this month the two group of players could be left waiting months before its played. Already its been a stop start season for them when this championship was meant to start in May and again in October but postponed.

The thing is I can't see the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals going ahead any time soon so it might make more sense to delay the various provincial finals or whoever wins this  will be going into the All-Ireland semi-finals cold. Given the health concerns I'd be cancelling the remaining minor games at provincial level.

I think it more sensible to finish off the provincial championships by the end of the month. The All-Ireland series will be level playing field for the 4 provincial winners then and it's unlikely the All-Ireland semi finals will played in January as was fixed but we'll see.

As Dr Cillian De Gascun said today, there’s no evidence of the new Covid-19 strain in Ireland, and says there’s no hard evidence to suggest that it is more transmissible. The rise infection rate is because of a lifting of restrictions and everywhere crowded with the usual mad rush before Christmas.

If level 5 restrictions are applied this final Probably won't be played until February at the earliest.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Great win for us the last day, looking forward to the final. Having watched both games both teams look very evenly matched.

Best of luck Sligo.

Yeah seems nuts they're not using the windy palace.

Roscommon 0-4 Sligo 0-0 at half-time.

Hurricane conditions apparently - Roscommon had the wind in the first half.
Lousy enough that the young lads had to play on St Stephens Day but in these conditions is very unfair, especially when the GAA have confirmed the minor competition will be finished even if it's in a few months time.

Virus is caught mostly indoors and we wear masks in shops. Great opportunity for Sligo with the gale wind now

Sligo might not score at all here. Absolutely horrible conditions in fairness. You wouldn't put a dog out in it. Think it's suited Roscommon more being the bigger more physical side.

Ros got a goal in second half against the elements , only a couple of mins left now I think , sligo yet to register a score . Gaelic football is a summer game not winter
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

Full time Roscommon 1-5 Sligo 1-2. Best team in truly awful conditions won. Hard luck to Sligo their wait for a minor title goes on. The rossies goes on to face Kerry whenever that will be played.

Congrats to our brave battling bunch of gasĂșns and to nice guy manager  Emmet Durney.
