They're all looking at club football as much as anyone - where do you think counties get coaches and players?

I'm not sure there does... if someone doesn't take out insurance then they are personally liable if a claim comes?

They need to produce either the settlement amount or what is arrived at by a court or face the consequences?

On the back of the "Extortion" thread, I thought I woulkd ask a question I have always wondered about.

Is it actually legal to compel people to purchase insurance on, for example, motor vehicles. Has this ever been challenged?

The "must do" aspect of insurance is a huge bonus to an industry already mired in monopolies and questionable practice.

Quote from: Ethan Tremblay on March 18, 2024, 09:06:38 PMI think anyone following armagh know that the depth of players commiting to the team at present hasn't been seen for the past 20odd years. There are quality players currently sitting on the bench we would have been building teams around 10 years ago, certainly a conundrum mcgeeney never had when he started.

In terms of success, ulster would certainly be a realistic possibility with the draw, and failing to win that would been seen as a failure to capitalise on all the elements aligning (a good team, good draw, and previous final experience).

This is a nonsense and part of the populist narrative in the county over the last couple of years.
We have a large panel of players of a very similar and good standard. A lot of players are interchangeable.

McGeeney demands an extremely high level or work and when they're all hitting that together it makes the team formidible. He's getting a tune out of lads at that level through conditioning and effort that I wouldn't have though possible watching them play club football.

However, Armagh don't have the number of high quality players that most of the division one teams have. Forker, Grugan and Murnin are the exceptions to that - they'd make any team in my view. This is why Rian is such a disappointment as he has exceptional ability but doesn't back it up with the work on and off the pitch the others do.

Beyond that group, everyone is replaceable by similar but that group is smaller than most top counties.

If Armagh are to win Ulster or All Ireland titles it will be a collective effort and a result of team ethic and approach tactically.

Quote from: bennydorano on March 09, 2024, 12:43:41 AMImagine what Tyson could do to that Jake Paul clown

Tyson is near 60 ffs. Paul is a 27 year old with serious power in his hands. There's no upside to this for Tyson and Paul is trying to leverage credibility off his bname. Odd one.

Rashford is the biggest issue. Absolutely no work rate without the ball and so predictable with it.

Quote from: gallsman on February 12, 2024, 09:29:27 AMThey certainly did within the last few years anyway.

Magee, Coleraine etc have always been part of UU. It's not a "new" entity at all.

Incorrect. The new entity now legally selects whatever players it wants from all campuses and if you're not involved with the mothership first team you can play with the campus teams in the lower grades.

Obviously that's a change from when they would select those campus players anyway as UUJ and not declare it!

Yes - UUJ have previously won the competition but Ulster University is a new entity combining Magee, Coleraine and maybe a few other campuses.

Who were the last "New" winners of the Sigerson Cup? If Ulster win on Wednesday they will be the thirteenth winners of the competition according to wiki

If the ball carrier is fouled a second time within the time of the advantage the ref gives that foul.
If the ball carrier commits an offence (over carry) within the time of the advantage the ref gives the original foul.
Not much point in the advantage otherwise.

How can there be such a poor understanding of the advantage rule at this stage.

If the fouled player commits an offence within the time limit of the advantage then original foul is immediately enforced. People seem to think "advantage" is some sort of licence to kill - you still have to play within the rules of the game. I counted 10 steps and irrespective of whether you thought it was 9 or 8 it was an obvious over carry at first glance.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on February 08, 2024, 07:29:05 PMUlster University have named a 32 man panel with no Glass and Doherty on it. Mickey Harte not allowing them play or they will wearing numbers 33,34?

I'd say they just decided there was no point jumping on the bandwagon when they haven't been around for UU all year.

Has been said they were not available tonight because were away on a pre-planned/booked holiday with the rest of the Glen players. Remains to be seen will they be togged for the final next week.

If you were on the UUJ team would you want these boys landing in for the final having not shown the slightest bit of interest before?
