Some achievement by Dublin, promoted from Division 2 and then follow up with a league final. I didn't see that coming and thought they'd be a team in transition for four or five years.

Quick fact check here.

On another forum Rory Brickendeen is coming in for some criticism for shooting when he called the mark in the late stages of last nights match v Kerry.

Some posters think he had the choice to pass the ball, my understanding is once an advanced mark is called the player must shoot within 15 seconds?

Who's correct here? Could Brickedeen have passed the ball or not after he chose to take the mark.

It was an awful effort at a tackle. I'll have to watch the replay but from what I saw earlier he didn't need to bull doze in the way he did.

QuoteConn got a ridiculous red card it balanced itself out

If you think that's not a red card then you've had too many knocks on the head yourself. It was late, high and dangerous, he had time to pull out of it as well.

We're not here to take part we're here to takeover.

Heard a "fan" spouting that on the news one night, the first part proven to be factually correct I suppose.

It didn't go unnoticed at the time, VP should've told the media where to go when the "sing-song" stuff blew up. Like most foreign managers she's more interested in her own future than Ireland.

Seemed bizarre that Kerry didn't press Dublins kick outs more, I'll have to watch the match again but I felt all through the game that Kerry weren't brave / risky enough, e.g., O'Brien on a good few occasions was free and either Moynihan or P Clifford didn't make the pass. Have to feel for Gavin White as well, a clean sheet may have been enough for Kerry to win, fine margins again .

QuoteThere was stuff trending on social media on Friday and Saturday about an interview he did previously where after a bad day he said we went and shot a pig and a turkey, and how said he's 'a hunter by nature'.
Apparently there's pics he has put up on the internet of him standing over his kills.

Is shooting pigs and turkeys "hunting"?

Question for the many rednecks and backwoodsmen on here, though the golf thread may not be their place.

QuoteI walk home that way a lot and the lads out of their head are tragic cases. But they rarely cause aggro.
As is the case in the tourist it's usually young lads who are the danger.

Ya, the yellowheads are so fucked up they are harmless. The guards have got complacent and aren't policing the young lads. Back before video phones they'd have gotten timber from the guards and that might have reformed them, can't use timber anymore though.

Quotelooks like another assault in galway yesterday https://www.irishtimes.com/crime-law/2023/07/20/galway-assault-leaves-man-in-critical-condition-in-dublin-hospital/

the countrys a joke

I hung around Galway after the salthill match earlier in the summer. It too is heading downhill. A lot of "new Irish" gangs hanging around eyre square looking for trouble.

Quote2 incredible iron shots on the last 2 holes

What a 2 iron on the last into that Gale. The wind knocked nearly 100 yards off his drive so the difficulty of that last hole made the win something special. He hits his 2 iron better than his wedges.

He should do a tiger on it next week and use his 2 iron off the tee all weekend.

QuoteForgot who it was but young sub caught a pass from thr keeper more or less in front of goal.  Should have taken the mark but didn't

Aye, thought that myself but was the pass inside the 45? I think it would've put Derry 3 up.

You could say the Clifford shoulder which was a turnover ball for Kerry but was a mistaken free for Derry was a momentum changer in the first half. Derry should've taken that goal chance, instead of soccer shit he should've picked her up and buried it.

Quoteyour punishment

My point exactly, it's punishment on amateur players. I know the god dam rule and knew it weeks ago and most folk here predicted the outcomes of the QFs for that reason. Doesn't mean it's right though.
