I've actually had a great idea. The teams who don't qualify out of there groups i.E. Louth who came fourth, get to enter the Tailteann Cup at preliminary quarter final stage, the the two finalists of the Tailteann Cup get into the All Ireland championship quarter final stage.

A great opportunity for Louth to get stuffed again by Dublin or Kerry or someone new like Mayo or Galway.

Some teams be waiting for weeks or a month for a game but we have a serious buzz in some counties in the Tailteann. Could increase attendances by dozens of people.

I believe the GAA have finally found a formula for the championship that works with a few tweaks,  but it needs to be spread across the summer with the All Ireland finals last two week ends of August at the earliest.

Bowing to the GPA by condensing the summer so there members can swan of to the states is wrong. I have no issue with lads going to America to make a few quid, I have an issue with the GAA moving there calendar to facility this.

This is nothing to do with club players, after tonight my club have 3 league games left in the Armagh league and the championship doesn't start to end off August. This was never about player welfare.
I agree but for 1 change put the minor games on before it as they have hurt a great competition by separating them. Also play tailtin cup earlier and both finalists enter Sam race at prelim quarter finals stage in same year. Winner still gets a holiday. Could you imagine the excitement in Meath, down Antrim and derry this weekend if they still had a chance to get
Back in the race for Sam by winning 1 more game.

Bonkers. Calling for the summer games to go longer but for the "tailtin" to be finished earlier so they can enter the all Ireland championship? So 14 other teams are finished weeks earlier so 2 average teams can re enter a competition they've already had two chances to qualify for - league and provincial championship.

I'm Derry are very excited for the semi finals this weekend. There wouldn't be one extra ripple in these counties at the thoughts of getting into quarter  finals as they know they would be squarely beat out the gate.

The constant want in the GAA for second chances and rewarding losing and lesser quality is amazing at times.

I think the difference in the deaths of hundreds in the med and the missing submarine is voyeurism. It's humans desire to be involved in real time events, be it a spectator or as a commentator.

The drownings in the med are tragic, and there should be conversations round these. But generally we hear about these after they happened. As harsh as it sounds, it's done, game over, nothing to see or do. Feel sad about it but we don't like or want to feel sad. Others will have different thoughts that is a whole other discussion.

Hearing of a missing sub is a story. It's a real life drama, throw in everything about it - the titantic, billionaires, survivial mission etc and we are all engaged, we are spectators. It's a discussion round the water cooler or in the canteen or coffee shop. It's a race for information and to be the first with something new to add. Everyone is a participant in the drama unfolding, knowingly or unknowingly.

There is huge tragedy everyday in the world, some of it makes the headlines, majority doesn't. The more common the tragedy the less we hear of them. A real time event with an unknown outcome will trump anything that has concluded.

It's human nature, rubber necking for want of a better phrase.

Some of the commentary round this is revealing as to the mindset of some and the everything has to be some way a conspiracy theory.

From looking on Twitter, some of the reasoning been discussed:
Billionaires paid millions to fake their own deaths.
Who was onboard and what did they know that made the west/Gates/Soros/deep state get rid of them in a planned sabotage.
What did they stumble upon that resulted them in been taken out....something something Nord stream pipeline.
Was there even a sub in first place and this a false flag towards further attacks on Russia and increased security budgets.

People have far too time in their hands.

There's a wonderful conundrum in your line about it not being a professional sport Trailer.

——

Tell me something. Just how much of a hike in men's football ticket prices would you be willing to stomach, to allow the female sports to enjoy the same levels of expenses?

For example, would you be okay with £30 for a league game?

And at what point would you start objecting to directly paying for people in another sport to play their hobbies? Is there one.

That is very true. And I don't have all the answers but I don't see this a Men v Women fight. Why should it all be laboured on ticket prices? Women and girls bring so much to our association much of it unseen so to make a simple monetary argument is unfair. Their contribution is more than pounds or euros. We're a community organisation. So it is not that simple.
The same argument exists when it comes to government budgets. I am not a huge fan of the arts. Should funding be cut to support, sport, or health or education? Teachers definitely shouldn't be paid in the summer months!

We can do better.

That is brillant line on the teachers, be some recruitment drive off the back of that.

Regards the funding for ladies game, like Everything it needs to be self sustained.

Do you attend the county ladies games or support them in any way? Help promote them and drive an audience to them?

This is the biggest issue they face. Any losing their best players to Australia doesn't help this. It creates a narrative that it's where the good players are or what the sport is for.

The LGFA, like the GAA, are very poor on self promotion. Trying to find fixtures and results for the LGFA games at club and county is hard work at times.

3:30 now so expecting them to pile in now....

Look on a serious note if it all comes down to basic economics then lets close down all aspects of the GAA that isn't self sufficient. Why just focus on the girls? Lets start with Division 4. Nobody watches that shite. Hurling below Liam McCarthy level.. forget about it. Small clubs.. lets close them. We're in the ruthless profit business. I don't care what it brings to the association. Everyone must pay their way. Handball, Scor all a burden on our great, all-conquering Men's County games.
Armagh also under review after their ludicrous attempts to get Croke Park opened at the weekend only for less that 6000 to turn up.

We looking at the whole of the LGFA as a body. Like any volunteer organisation there will be parts that work and take in the funds and others that don't. Everyone knows the last 5/6 games of the all Ireland series (football/hurling) and their commercial activities fund the rest of activities. But the money they're from this and it's sustainable.

The LGFA for obvious reasons don't have this level of income to sustain what is been looked for. Lot of counties have been resourceful and have managed to look after their players. I note not every county was in picture.

Bit like the time the Intercounty players/GPA threatened strike. Several Intercounty players I know had no idea what the issue was.

You can't spend what isn't been generated. Smells of the GPA who have no row to pick with the GAA as there isn't any issues at inter county level forcing this as their new pet project.

Administration at LGFA level has been poor in the past at national and county level but there seems to be a want on a lot of county squads without them actually realising what's involved and what they have at their disposal.

10mins before the start of the game and it's totally empty behind 1 of the nets.

Maybe people went to Croke Park by mistake?

This is great viewing!

Excellent. Was real US open golf last night.

Be interesting to see pin positions this evening. Scheffler is lurking dangerously for the leaders.

Is shaping up nicely, enjoying the course with risk and reward shots plus plenty of lies round greens that need some imagination. Fowler only had 4 pars on his card last night.

Tee times aren't great tonight though, leaders tee off at 11.40 tonight our time.

Conor in the news again with another rape allegation in the states. He seemed to be a busy man at that Miami Heat NBA game.

Between knocking out mascots and abusing a woman in the toilets did he even get to watch the game....allegedly of course. He very unlucky he does find him else in these situations.

I wonder how much this one will cost him.

One of the most distinctive voices in Irish Music. A person who carried themselves so well considering all that he carried himself and the horrific abuse he suffered.

An amazing band to see live, from the chaotic gigs in the 90s to the big gigs in the Point and more  reserved gigs in recent years where his health was clearly suffering but he continued to perform as it was what he lived for.

Covid robbed me of seeing him one more time as him and Goff where to tour just as covid took hold and he never made it back on the road.

Will miss stage presence and voice. RIP Christy.

Why should people respond to an inconvenient venue by buying tickets 10 days before a game? People could have decided to go on the day if Galway and the GAA were not acting the bollix.

Assume this is parody?
