Not much talk now from the usual suspects about the Thousand Year Reich and Dublin's twenty All Irelands in a row. Everyone now seems to agree that we have indeed been looking at a golden generation of players.
I think they could well be outdone by Limerick's golden generation in the hurling. Consecutive All Ireland finals with 10+ point wins. There doesn't seem to be any Kerry or Mayo within very close striking distance like the Dubs almost always had.

Difficult to predict how long Limerick's dominance will last, but 5 in a row certainly on the cards.
Cork seem to be moving the right way with their underage teams, obviously depends on how those lads step up to senior but will obviously be a few years yet. Bulk of that Limerick team wouldn't be too old either would it?
Certainly a lot of promise in Cork, but Limerick are an absolute class apart.
The danger is it might be nearly too easy for them and they may not be able to keep the focus on year-after-year the way the Dubs did.

I wonder are people on hurling forums saying Limerick are destroying hurling and it's JP that somehow turned them into a squad of magnificent hurlers, like morons on here saying Bertie turned the Dubs into world beaters 😀

Ffs man , do you think it's just coincidence,  that financial doping of Dublin,  jps money into limerick and the two panels were exceptional in s&c .

Even Lowery's few quid paying off in offally.

Why are people in denial about funding been a factor?
Yep, excellent point on Shane's millions turning Offaly's youngsters into the best in the country in the space of a few weeks.
And all the money Inda threw into Mayo to keep them at the top for over a decade. Supposed to be a once in a generation team, but they keep churning out new players every year.  Must be the money, there can no other reason.
And presumably it was the Healy Raes who ensured Kerry won an unprecedented 5 minors in a row, which is actually harder than doing it at senior level, given the player turnover.

I know of a lad at a county at the complete opposite end of the spectrum , if you think them lads who have to beg for expenses to travel to league games or at the same level as lads driving round in sponsored cars ,you're a racing lunatic . Its completely imbalanced and certain counties are on a different planet cause of funding . Dublin in football and limerick In hurling are top dogs in this league . There is nothing more to this . Do you honestly believe a promising underage player in leitrim has the same chance as a promising underage player in Dublin, same access to facilities , guidance,  advice ,s&c  programmes etc etc

Always the same stuff that shows you have this notion in your head and your not willing to listen or debate points raised on the other side.

How about you answer that question, but compare Leitrim to Mayo?

Then, secondly answer the question comparing Mayo to Dublin. Do you honestly believe a Mayo youngster has less chance of coming through than a Dublin youngster? Facts do not back this up.

Do you know much a Mayo player gets compensated for traveling from Dublin to Mayo and back for training?
If two lads travel in the same car, do they both get compensated?
Pre-Covid, thr Mayo lads were well incentivized and compensated for traveling. They don't have to beg for expenses. Still anyone would prefer to not to have to do it like Dublin.

Of course Dublin have a big advantage over everyone with corporate sponsors. And all bigger counties also have an advantage over small counties. But Dublin's advantage in his county players are treated compared to Kerry and Mayo is small.

Not a single cent of games development funding goes to county panels at senior or underage.

Nah the Death Star took out. But the Empire could Strike back next year, leading up to the concluding trilogy  ;lol 😂

You only have to look at the Taliban and their comeback.

The Taliban did it on their own. Dublin couldn't despite a tenfold numerical advatage until they were given millions by Bertie and the GAA.

Totally wrong. Taliban did a deal with Trump, Dublin did a deal with Bertie. Taliban fond of beheading and Dublin were trying a bit of beheading at the weekend too. Taliban are sponsored by Toyota Hilux, Dublin also sponsored by Toyota

It remains to be seen if the Taliban sweep out dressing rooms but I think the comparison above is perfect.

The taliban after being defeated in Afghanistan have come back and now rule the country. Great comparison Itchy. Like you I hope the dubs can come back and reclaim their throne
It's a good comparison - as regards dirty play and incorrigible cynacism , they are well- matched.  ;D ;D

Taliban are back on top after 20 years of struggles and they are now calling the shots. Hopefully dubs won't have to wait that long to reclaim their title.

Kerry might have something to say about that since they lead the honours table.

It's numbers of  Teams, not Clubs.

We'd have a fair overlap in our underage teams where one player would be playing for two teams..

We were in Douglas at a Feile a few years back with our camogs with half our team made up from U12's and not one girl on the Douglas team was U12. So in theory they'd an U14 team and an U12 team like us but probably double or triple the number of players..
The same weekend our U14 hurlers were at Inniscarra which is meant to be a small club in Cork standards, they too had no U12's on their teams and we had plenty.

Cork are a sleeping giant in both hurling and football.

Cork seem to be the one county that can come from no where and win an Allireland.
2010 was the ultimate smash and grab.
i rhink  they could benefit from splitting in 3 . Geographicly it too big

Cork didn't come from nowhere in 2010. They were there or thereabouts for the previous 4 or 5 years getting to finals, winning national leagues and U21 all Irelands.

Absolutely. It had been 6 years since anyone other than Kerry had beaten them in championship. They fell over the line in 2010, but it was a long time coming.

He's still depressed over the dubs finally getting beat.

It's Murphy's law. He follows Mayo for years but because they couldn't beat the dubs he decides that's it I'm supporting Dublin from now on and then look what happens. If I was a Mayo fan I'd be asking him to put Tyrone flags up outside his house and to support them in the final. Teams with him as a supporter are about as lucky as crews who had Unle Albert from Only Fools and Horses as a crew mate
