Why is the standard so poor in Sligo club, honestly? Even Ballymote (a town club that should never be at Junior in any county in the first place) made tough work of a Kilglass side that were hammered by a B team in the county final until the late goal. At club it's very possible for a well coached group of lads to win Connachts and AIs, even from small counties. Even the Sligo county teams seem much more competitive than their club representatives. It's a bit of a mystery. Mitchels are so punch drunk from continuous football now you'd hope that Tourlestrane could give them a proper go.
The present club scene is poor enough alright but it was better in the past, Tourlestrane might well be some way ahead of the rest but I'm not sure their current team would match up to their team of a decade ago, O'Hara, Durkin, McGowan et al. Most other teams certainly wouldn't. Harps and Curry both reached provincial finals in the noughties and defeated notable opposition in that time, and generally the teams were competitive in Connacht. Since Harps were flattened by Brigid's in 2010 it largely hasn't been the case.
I would agree with you to a certain extent. There were better individual players in the Tourlestrane team of 10 years ago because of the 3 lads mentioned but the current team are much more balanced and there is also a good bench which wouldn't have been the case back then.

Annagh Rovers beat Tulsk 0-10 to 0-03 in the Connacht B final, the A final is on at the minute.

Edit: Brigids 2–10 Balla 1-05, if anything the score flatters Balla as their goal was a point attempt that the keeper fluffed and Brigids missed a penalty too. Well done to the Kiltoom/Cam men.

Brigids worthy champions, better team and more incisive on the wet wet night.

18 mins gone in the two semi finals the underdogs in front.

Corofin 0-2 St Brigids 0-4
Tourlestrane 0-4  Castlebar Mitchels 0-3
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

That pitch is some hovel and it's not doing Corofin's style of play any favours. Corofin are a much, much better side and got a handle on the game as it went on but some times they are far too goal hungry and they passed a few good chances up there in the first 15 minutes. I think they'll kick on and win by about 8 points in the second half.

Blowitupref

HT in both

Corofin 1-5 St Brigids 0-6
Tourlestrane 0-7  Castlebar Mitchels 0-7

If the goal area wasn't astro turf that Brigid's goal wouldn't have rolled in!

2 point game in Tuam. Fair play to Brigid's as the looked beaten. 2 bad misses will be rued.

Blowitupref

5 mins to play in Tuam Brigids have made a good comeback and would be level but for some poorly taken frees. Corofin 1-12 Brigids 1-10

The referee is doing his best to keep it competitive anyway. Brigids getting some baffling calls.

Would have thought he was being kind to Corofin. Kieran McGrath lucky to be on the pitch despite being booked and repeated fouling. 1 pt game now with 3 mins inj time
