Utd's money earned through success on the pitch, City's money.........

QuoteBetween 2008, when Abu-Dhabi-based oil magnate Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan bought them, and the end of last season, the club's total cash outlay was £930.4m, of which only £365.3m was generated from their own operations.

The remainder – £565.1m – had to be supplied by Mansour, the club's billionaire benefactor.

He was gracious in defeat today.

Alex Ferguson speaking after the game away at Sunderland: "Nobody expected that. Everybody expected City to win, but they did it against 10 men for half an hour and with five extra minutes to help them.

"But I congratulate City on winning the league. Anybody who wins it deserves it, because it's a long haul. At the end of our game our players didn't actually know the results. Now, they're really disappointed, I'm glad to say.

"There's no other way they should be. They conducted themselves brilliantly today. Their performance level was good. I'm pleased at our performance this season. 89 points would win most league. It wasn't our turn today."

This. Beggars belief.

United desperately need to spend money in the summer.

In fairness Evra looks a gloat. Remember old trafford? Let him have his fill of it.

Everton be delighted if united start to spend, they'll get a load of players on the cheap.

Fergie got United to finish on equal points with City with one of the worst squads ever.

I know it's really easy to be wise after the event. But the night Vidic done his ACL was the night United lost it all.

An expensive "worst squad ever", it's not as if he took some pub team to the top of the league.

As long as they keep KKK there is every chance Tranmere might overtake them.

From the Bunker

Have to say, there has not been a Premiership won yet that has not been bought, in one way or another. Once you have the top professional players who can be bought by the financially stronger clubs there's no chance for the poorer sides.

United fans have been playing 'the players coming through' card, but this is really a myth. I mean there's a trickle of players coming through, but all the first team regulars are 15 Million plus signings. What regulars do not fit into this cathegory (ignoring Giggs and Scholes)?

Today, is a worring day for Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelski and (to a far lesser degree) Liverpool. City are now champions of the most popular league in the world. No longer will they have to fool players like Robinho into signing for them, no longer will they have to make do with good players who have massive baggage.
