My son may be moving to the Big Apple.  Any suggestions for good areas to live in the Bronx/Yonkers area.  e.g. Irish community--GAA clubs, pubs, restaurants, proximity to freeway and subway, etc.  Any areas to avoid like the plague.  How tough is street parking.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any of you film aficionados know where I can get my hands on a DVD of the movie "Everything in this Country Must" based on the Colum McCann short story.

By the way, lynchboy, was that you who wrote the review of it on IMDb?

GAA Discussion / GAA live on Setanta in US?
May 28, 2009, 11:36:31 PM
Anyone know if Setanta is offering a championship deal this year?  Don't seem to be able to get the Armagh-Tyrone game live.  Any thought, you computer-savvy ex-pats?

GAA Discussion / Armagh vs. Cork Sunday, April 12
March 29, 2009, 06:49:10 PM
So, if I understand it right, we have to beat Cork, and either Monaghan must loss to Laois at Portlaoise or Kildare must lose to Meath at Navan.  Draws don't do us great favours because of the point differential.  Can certainly be done, but will need Clarke and McKeever.  Midfield remains a worry.

Can anyone tell me how those hunger strikers are doing who were taken off hunger strike when it ended?  How are they physically/emotionally?  Have many died?

Also, how do those strikers feel whose families took them off hunger strike when they lapsed into coma?  I'd appreciate any insight.

GAA Discussion / GAA clubs in Ireland
March 16, 2009, 08:46:43 PM
With the All-Ireland club finals tomorrow, does anyone know about how many Gaelic Football and Hurling clubs there are in Ireland?  With all the knowledge about our national games that abounds on this board, I feel confident that someone knows.

GAA Discussion / Kildare vs. Armagh Sun. March 22

Revenge of the Geezer?  Game in Newbridge.

Will be a very difficult encounter.  Kildare very much in the race for promotion, Armagh nestled comfortably in the middle of the league, but by no means secure.  Will any of the Cross boys be available?  Will playing against Geezer fuel Armagh's motivation?

Just wondering.  How badly does rugby cut up the Croke playing surface?  How does if affect hurling in particular?  How well is it repaired?

General discussion / Question about the film "Once"
January 04, 2008, 02:52:05 AM
I've just seen this film.  Fantastic.  Have a question, though.  Where exactly is the location of the scene outside Dublin where the couple are up on a hill overlooking the Irish Sea?  And what a great soundtrack too.

Hey, Stew, don't forget to send in your All-Ireland picks.  I sent you mine.  Don't be peeking till you pick.

Up Armagh, the Cuchulainns, the Ogs, the Cavs, the Indians, the Browns, the Buckeyes and just about anyone who runs against a Republican candidate in any U.S. election.

Stew, I just received your donation to the Oraisteach Reading Fund.  I'll spend it quickly knowing that after Ballybofey I'll probably be well behind in our All-Ireland prognostications.  Go raibh maith agat.

Niall,

I can't recall my gaaspreads password.  Any chance you could let me know what it is?

Thanks,
