Kildare GAA are looking for a new chairman after Padraig Ashe resigned last night. A statement was read out at last night's county board meeting announcing his resignation.

This is all cloak and daggers, well known that Ashe didn't see eye to eye with Geezer and seemingly the last straw was over club championship fixtures with McGeeney seemingly vetoing them. Very bizarre - has a county chairman ever resigned mis-season before?

Bizarre sums it up. There's definitely a lot more to this than meets the eye. Rumour has it that it was over some fundraising the players were doing for Club Kildare or something?

McGeeney was very much Syl Merrins' man and it was clear that himself and Pádraig Ashe never saw eye to eye.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

No idea about Kildare boys but generally speaking if there's a row between the executive and the manager the manager loses. Big win for McGeeney from the sound of it.

The Ashe is felled, the Oak remains.
