Anyone else have to Google USP  ;D

Anyone trying to argue United's position amongst the biggest clubs in the world either doesn't follow or understand football. No amount of oil backed Champions League winning teams will change that

All Pochettino would bring is a better style of football. I think like Moyes with Everton he has found his level right now and would likely be engulfed by the pressure, demands and expectations at United. Sure he could finish 6th with spurs in the league and some in media will still talk him up. He would be silly to leave that comfy job.

No matter what the United job is still one of the plum jobs in world football. Any new manager will have resources well beyond what 99% of other teams could only dream off and they are inheriting some seriously talented players. Yes money needs spent in certain areas but in De Gea, Dalot, Pogba, martial, Rashford, Lingard etc there is the makings of a decent squad. If the new guy can't make that work then maybe he's not worth £10m per year or whatever he'll be offered. The fact José was allowed to put his arrogance and self interest ahead of the club is a question the Board needs to address.

I still think if you let those players off the leash like they have done in certain matches, (usually when behind at half time) United will be much more at the races in 2019. I expect at least 1 big signing as well in January

A large part of the problem at United these days is big signings in January that have been a complete and undeniable failure.

They need to approach the problem differently. No one player or manager can fix United.

Agree to a certain extent but the right player can make a massive difference. VVD for example. Liverpool's defence was unrecognisable after he joined last season.

Writing the word fact after something does not make it a fact.

United have undoubtedly been on the highest echelon of football brands since the EPL began.

But the gap between them and the English pack (see the rest of the big 6) is dwindling fast, as United's only clear USP now is medium term history.

Sorry lads I'm being facetious I do not think that Manchester United are the biggest club in the world . . . depends what you measure it on but in footballing terms they most certainly have not been it for the past 10 years!!

Not too many Utd fans keen on believing that though!!

EDIT . . . this guy!!

The club five years on are still paying the cost of not bringing in a like for like replacement for Ferguson straight away.
Taggart?
I said like for like and not lookalike.

Youre a wild disappointment screen, on other threads you come across as interesting and knowledgable on this one here you come across like a cretin.

Yes, and I'm still not sure what the United States Pharmacopeia has to do with anything.

United will make Pochettino the no 1 target this summer, well thats what everyone seems to think. He's obviously very loyal to Spurs but he's left 2 jobs previously for bigger jobs and with financial difficulties Spurs have he might be tempted. There's no way he can win the league with the lack of financial backing he receives at Spurs.

If United can get Pochettino surely it would make sense to appoint a manager in the interim who would play a similar brand of football so that when the new manager comes in its not completely alien to them.

Pochettino will not go to United. He has more sense.

I know this is difficult for supporters to understand, but Manchester United 2019 is no guarantee of silverware, not even a guarantee of Chanpiosn League football.

Waving the cheque book around isn't going to work in the way it once did, because City and Chelsea will do likewise. He would have to spend half a billion pound experimenting with players just to get the solid foundations he put in place at Spurs 3 years ago.

He won't be paid better then where he is.

The weather is worse.

Travelling to Spain for business and Argentina for pleasure is less convenient.

His son is on Spurs books.

He has a chairman who trusts him at Spurs.

If you really think "brand Man United" is going to topple all that, then you're deluded.

The main reason why no "worldies" joined Man Utd this summer is because none were interested. Get used to it folks.
Man Utd are in a similar category to AC Milan- faded glory, managerial turmoil, no league win recently, got passed out by more organised clubs.

Would Liverpool fit into that category? Faded glory no league in nearly 30 years, no silverware?

Jose cried cos he didn't get enough money. He didn't care about developing youth because he wouldn't have got the time to do so.

The arse has fallen out of the game. It's instant success or you're out. Fergie was the last one whose job was safe enough to be able to take the time and develop youth. No other manager is able to do that anymore.

I'm not shocked he's gone but United won't have a manager longer than 3/4 years again. The game is a cesspit of money and greed. It needs a reality check. Won't happen though.

Mourinho was unwilling or unable to develop and coach the players he had, never mind bringing through youth players
