Quote from: Tyrone Dreamer on February 19, 2024, 04:14:23 PMYesterdays game wouldn't help sell it to anyone but do the county board need to find ways to help improve the support and atmosphere at county games? Every McKenna Cup and league game is currently played in Omagh and can be a pretty drab place especially when the crowds are fairly low.

Would it not be better to take 1 or 2 games a year to other club grounds? A packed Carrickmore would have been better than a quarter full healy park yesterday. Dungannon should be another option going forward as well.

They certainly aren't playing them all in Omagh for the quality of the surface.

Great shout. The stand wasnt even full yesterday, we are getting particularly poor crowds. There is no justification now playing all home games in Omagh.

The only justification probably is the media tower in which Omagh have that other club grounds don't. Not sure if RTE/TG4 would work as well in Carmen etc.. Dungannon sure to be an option but parking is a serious issue at Dungannon if they were to host a big NFL game.

Will Healy Park withstand the rain for tomorrows league final?? I would say Dromore / Killyclogher should be prepared for an 11th hour phonecall.
Predictions for the final.. ?

Are they not getting enough half time draws? I hope it's thrown out without further discussion. Why would anyone tamper with the best club championship in Ireland?

A heads gone moment

May well have hit the nail on the head here. There can't be any other reason for them to motion that other than the reason of gathering more income with games.  On the football front they wouldn't even come out of a group stage most years & the only chance they have of nipping a team in the top 7/8 now is by a straight knockout.  They do have some good youth coming through but still a long way of the top teams.

Quote from: Wee Roddy on September 29, 2023, 06:18:14 PMCarrickmore have dispensed with Archie Beattie. I'm sure he feels very let down by the players but the writing was on the wall after the Loughmacrory defeat. I'd imagine our next manager will be from within the club
Who would be the candidates for the job?

The problem is I don't think there is too many from within, like most clubs they have tried and tested alot of the potential 'managers'. Michael Gallagher seems to have good experience as a coach with youth/county teams so Im sure his name will be in the hat. Personally I feel an outside man is still required who has a proven track record, they are hard come by at the moment (especially at the right money).  Clubs are being crippled by managers & coaches charging £150/200 a night unless they have a sugar daddy covering the expenses.

Will be an interesting winter none the less.

Quote from: skeog on September 23, 2023, 06:34:29 PMCarmen in decline despite the heavy outlay on outside manager/coach, Omagh worse with an even bigger expenditure on manager and coach from outside.Must be a long time since Carmen surrendered so meekly.

Totally agree & unacceptable for a panel of that quality to surrender so meekly as you put it.. I don't think in the grand scheme of things Edendork are a 7/8 point better team than us but it was men against boys on Saturday. Its going to be hard now to keep boys at it for the Semi finals of the league. The big question the club has to answer in the off season is who will be appointed for next season, no doubt the rumour mill will be in full flow for every club come Novemeber.

Is it time to revive those  Loughmcrory for the championship predictions again?
Is it time to rule Carrickmore out as genuine contenders to win it?

Fair play to the Lough but in the general context of things how can you rule any team out of being championship contenders on one performance. Carrickmore were missing 4-5 starters last night. The line panicked bring a clearly unfit Johnny on at ht and I'd didn't work at all
I would be interested to hear who the 4-5 missing starters are.
Sean Loughran, Cormac Munroe, Jonny (only back), Mark Donnelly (inj) is who I can think of hand. No excuses though as the better team on the day won - seems like it is a season defining defeat by many peoples opinions.  Already in the League Semi finals & 2 defeats from 13 - not all bad despite losing the parish derby.
