General discussion / Exercise!!
April 01, 2012, 07:06:32 PM
Can't find a topic about it, we have a Running a Cycle thread but nothing on general exercise.

I thought I was fit enough, but did a (don't laugh :o) BodyPump class yesterday morning!! Thought I change up my routine at the gym and try one of the many classes they do, plus loads of fit birds were heading ;D

Well I thought it would be grand, if girls were doing it then I'd be great. Fcuk how wrong was I??? I'm in bits today, Walking as If I'd been buggered by Father Curran. Tough session held by a Amazonion Blondie, who was smiling the whole way through. I haven't raised a smile all day (though i was at Casement >:()

As anyone tried this? Not the Father Curran thing ;)

With the parties in full flow at the minute, I was wondering are they still well attended and do staff still have a fling on these nights out?

Brought this up cause I heard of one the other week, teachers apparently are the worst for it ;)

Ours is next week, the bosses pay for the 3 course meal and free drink all night. But we still have the 2 or 3 people who never turn up, no brainer for me

General discussion / Films that you cried at
December 08, 2011, 10:31:18 PM
Just on Muppet's reply to my last post, List your top 5 films that you cried at.

As you get older and have kids, there are times when you are watching a film that something happens in it and it strikes a cord with you and you are all of a sudden ready or feel the need to shed a tear or two.

I'll get my top five weepies soon but I will let the masses decided their own.

Surely we owe it to the players/clubs/fans to have these games played long before this.

Watching the finals and listening to the games on the radio, while tense and enthralling, the conditions these lads are playing in is a disgrace. These are the best players in the county some the best in the country and they are shoveling around in a mud pit for the ball. Instead of showcasing their skills

What's the answer though? Played before the All Ireland finals? Would feel robbed playing in those conditions if ya lost

General discussion / The official buy and sell thread
August 17, 2011, 10:52:05 AM
Thought I'd start this up in these recession hit times.

So what have you to sell or what are you looking?

Would have a load of junk in the the garage and would normally dump it but thought why not sell it instead, couple of kids wardrobes and a dinning room table with six chairs, kitchen table with 4 chairs, a trimmer (got two for some reason!) a very good hiking rucksack.

I am looking for a decent bike.

General discussion / Book reviews
July 26, 2011, 01:24:54 PM
Over the holidays I managed to get through 5 books

Read Christy O Conor's book The Club - great book which had a lot of similarities with my own club

Read the second book from the, Girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy, great book (currently finishing off the third one now)

Read Swimsuit by Patterson, very good serial killer story with a twist.

Read a Tess Gerritsen novel called Harvest very good medical thriller and will be looking into getting some more by her

last one i read was the worst The Halo Effect, serial killer killing prostitutes and a doctor going undercover to find him. very raunchy in places which is difficult while at the pool reading it ;)

Any other good books out there?

June 14, 2011, 08:53:18 AM
On the back of the other thread about what ya get up to when the wife is out I was wondering do you pull your weight around the house?

For example:

Hoover the house

Make the dinner

Cut the grass

In charge of the bills

Ironing

DIY around the house

Cleaning the bathroom

Putting a wash on and hanging it out to dry

Making the lunches

For those who have been maybe you can help me, my younger brother is heading off to Australia very soon and is wondering about insurance/cover while away.

Would he need insurance here or would it be best to get insurance over in Oz.

Also what would be the best policies to take out.

thanks in advance

Gardai have been called in to investigate an alleged assault on a GAA referee during a match in Monaghan.

The alleged incident occurred during the course of a minor football league match in the county on Tuesday evening. The game was subsequently abandoned and complaints were made to the relevant authorities.

Truagh and Scotstown were the teams in action, and referee Xavier Coyle abandoned the match after allegedly being assaulted by an adult from Scotstown. County Board officials have refused to comment, but a spokesperson for Coyle's club Tyholland confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

A Garda spokesman added: "Garda at Monaghan are investigating an assault that took place at Lisseagh, Emyvale at approximately 20.30hrs on May 10. Anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda at 047 77200."

Crazy stuff, these guys should be banned from their club and from attending any GAA games in the future. I hope the lad gets charged and convicted
