Galway are just at division 2 team. They badly need to get into div 1 just for the experience alone. They were comfortable with Derry and armagh because the pace is that much slower. There were mistakes made...not looking up enough...bad shots.....walking the ball into the small square which are indicative of a team having to work that bit quicker than they are used to(and being found out). We've seen it with the hurlers many years.

The game has moved on from 2000 and at least Galway are realizing that(finally).   I can't see some of the older members of this team hangin around for much longer.

Galway badly need to get into Division 1. The speed of decision making was the primary killer today.

Are ya havin' a laugh.

Galway can't put up an effective defence against almost anyone. It's much more than the speed of decision of making that's at play. Galway aren't and shouldn't be thinking about D1 football right now, they need to hone their craft and develop their players before worrying about that.

I'm sayin that 4-5 years in div2 is really showing.  Yes of course that includes learning their drills/skills properly in attack as well as defence. playing mayo/kerry et al only once a year isn't helping.

Laoislad, you should be gutted. We all follow enough teams to know what that feels like. Keep the head up.... season only getting going yet.

Galway were in a no win situation. There for the taking.

I won't write off Galway just yet. We'll wait to see who they get after the mauling from the cats.

Unusual for Galway, they didn't panic, read the game, took their time and sorted it out. They won't get that time against many other teams left in the championship.

The U21 Semi final against Kerry in Ennis 2002. Class is eternal.

Fair play to him for putting himself first.

What age were you?  5

Who was playing, what year ? Donegal V Galway AllIreland Semi 1983

Who did you go with ? Dad & Uncles

Do you remember anything about it ? Val Daly. The instant noise... the atmosphere.

My WDL ratio in Croke park(football and hurling championship games only) is Won 11 drew 3 Lost 10. Not a bad record on paper for a Galway fan. Its masks the carnage of Thurles and other graveyards of hope.

2 Second Division Teams and all that. its just nice to see a bit of backbone in the Galway team. The game was there to be won and they won it for a change. onwards and upwards.

excuse my ignorance, i don't like in ireland anymore. really didn't know what the interview was for.

So....
Tipperary.... are playing ... Clare.

And to generate some agro headlines, they had to drag in Galway & Kilkenny.

The country is indeed in a terrible state.

does anyone know where the interview came from?  Canning wasn't just hanging around waiting for the phone to ring. The Galway camp have been so disciplined with the media all season. However true, its the sort of stuff that could have waited for another 3 weeks.  Because he has said nothing all season, he should have expected that when he did, it would be jumped on.

Nothing in it really but should have known better.

Not wanting to make a habit of congratulating last minute disappointment, but great stuff from Galway. A back bone has been found alive and well.  The line in the sand has been drawn and we are going in the right direction. Not sure how fast we'll be going forward but progress at least. it wasn't because of today that Galway aren't in division One next year.

Definately one for the ages!!!

a soft goal early on went downhill early after that.

he should be put on the next plane to Oz if thats the way he feels about it. He's obviously made the wrong decision for himself. fair enough we all make mistakes.  the floods, the fires, the cyclones and the snakes are waiting for him. He's not under contract with Down!
