Topics - Hurler on the Bitch

"Tourist told city 'doesn't exist' " - I see that Translink have excelled themselves in customer care again according to the BBC. A Canadian tourist asks for a ticket to Derry only to be told that the City doesn't exist!!!!! In this day and age how can you have people employed in such positions if they are going to pull off such petty rubbish? Ask them to sing 'Derry's Walls' and I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue though... Translink have now apologised....

General discussion / Wee Willie Frazer
July 25, 2007, 10:32:58 AM
For my sins - and boredom - I was reading Susans McKay's 'Northern Protestants' 2001 book last night. Came across her interview with Willie Frazer and this quote brought me to the edge of despair? "If a Paki came over from India and shot a Provie, I would shake his hand." Maybe, this sort of says a lot more of this man's mentality if this is his understanding of Geography... Mr Adair came up with something similar when he said of Soukri 'The Egyptian' - "no Paki's gonna take my territory!" - is it a fact that all bigots have a great racist streak or are they just thick? Discuss.

Off to Milan next week - me and the mussus - no kids etc.... I hear that you have to book at least two weeks in advance for the 'Last Supper' - how do you get to the lakes and where is it cool to chill out in the evening?

General discussion / Sheer Perfection...
July 19, 2007, 11:45:55 AM
I was sitting last weekend outside a bar / cafe on a hillside overlooking Florence. The better half was having a glass of wine, while had a rather large, cold and frothy beer in front of me. The sun was setting over the hilltops on the far side. Two excellent pizzas arrived and we sat and chilled as the evening descended. Now I'm back in dear old Ireland, back at work and have no leave left. But I just thought, what sheer perfection that evening was - anybody beat that?
