People forget only about 18 months back a lot of people were saying the Donegal machine is unbeatable.

We're they??
They were indeed- mainly Ulster bucks on here.
They were also saying that Donegal were the only county team that could bate Crossmaglen  ::)

He'll soon be old enough to start thinking about girleens and porther so we'll then hear no more of him.
As the Rhus include a wipe of Roscommon in their terrritory for football it's appropriate enough that he mentions us in this thread.
As for the game - Kerry by 3 to set up a Dublin media wankfest All Ireland final v Dublin.

96 games played in the Back Door over four years and only one County to beat a front door county in the Quarter Finals. Is it time to go back to straight knock out? This is just a waste of time and money!
No Quarter Finals = 115,000 at average €20 ( kids/long term tickets taken into account) loses 2,300,000.
I'm sure the other 24 games would have generated €1.25m??

It's because Donegal are far worse than pretty much anyone else. Most opponents have to play defensive football against Donegal due to the way they set up which leads to some god awful games. I would normally love to see Donegal win an All Ireland but as long as you play like you under Jimmy I hope you don't. I'll be supporting Dublin in 3 weeks time and I think most neutral supporters will also.
They will not!!!
I enjoyed the Donegal/Armagh game yesterday - a tough tense down to the wire winner takes all championship game. Plenty of good football in it too despite the second half deluge.
I gave up on the second game at half time as I knew the familiar script for the second half.
Can't see the 2014 Donegal team beating 2014 Dublin but for the sake of competitiveness and for keeping sport unpredictable I will be hoping they do.

There seems to be no serious competitor coming from anywhere to match the Colossus. :-\

They may as well present Dublin with Sam now and stop boring everyone and wasting their money by playing the remaining 3 games in the Championship.
I really fear for the future of football at National competition level with the big colossus created by the GAA.

I wouldn't agree with everything he says here but he does think about sport in an interesting way and it's always fascinating to hear the thoughts of someone who hasn't a football background but does have an appreciation of GAA.

I've always got the impression that Dónal Óg's chief appreciation is of himself. Everything after that is just a detail.

Very harsh.
First Commandment of  GAA board - Thou shalt oppose Dónal Óg and the GPA  ;)

With CEO Jim Gavin in charge of a large coaching staff who prepare the playing staff and with a logistcs staff and no doubt  an administrative staff to back up all the other types of staff not to mention sponsorships of about mtwice the amount of all other GAA units combined - what chance have the poor oul small amateur Counties got to give them any run for their money?

Good bit of deflecting from the "Coaching STAFF" issue lads  ;) Well done.

Firstly post the link to the quote then please give us a euphemism for the position of John Evans.

I heard Gavin say that on the RTE radio sports bulletin last night at 11.05 pm.
John Evans is the Team Manager. He gets expenses in accordance with the official going rate. I expect he gets fed like the rest of our volunteers involved in County teams. I expect he gets expenses when coming to watch club games to try and spot a bit of talent.

What differences are there in Burton meeting the Queen of England or McGuinness or any other leader including An Taoiseach?.
Bruton (not Burton) was climbing up Charlie Windsor's behind and leppin about like mad while McG was meeting in a formal setting in his role as Joint FM.

What about a rule that all teams must have a minimum of 4 players inside the attacking 1/2 at all times, a 14 metre free if everyone retreats behind the ball.
How would you police the former and the second - allyou's have to do is you'd leave one man ahead of the ball.
Ban the bloody handpass for a start, all placed kicks must be kicked forward between the 20m lines ( to allow for a close in  free on the sideline to be played into the centre)........................

PS - I heard Jin Gavin refer to Dublin's "coaching staff" yesterday. Doesn't staff mean paid employees?
Where's Don't Matter when you need him?

Do you reckon John Evans is driving up from Kerry to manage your lot because he likes the beautiful boggy Roscommon scenery. And what about John Maughan and Tommy Carr?

Glasshouses!
We can't afford STAFF End of story. We certainly can't afford 5 bucks with laptops for our U21s like one big County can( hint - they won the U21 AI this year).
Johneen Evans gets EXPENSES as provided for in GAA rules.
Our Bus is "cost neutral".
I dont mind slagging etc but the mention of the 2 Army Bucks is a step too far.

Hold on. If tyrone were facing donegal on saturday having just did what armagh have done everynody would be saying tyrones going to beat donegal. Armagh hammered tyrone rosscommon and meath. If they got monaghan now theyed beat them. Armagh are going to beat donegal in the game of the championship. I think theres more in this team I dont think theyve peaked yet and the more games they get the better they get..
Keep your feet on the ground buicín and aisy on the hyperbole.
I think I may be revising my opinion of hoping Armagh win.
