That's the Trump argument for four more years?

An Alzheimer's cognitive test!

Person, man, woman, camera, TV! ;D
who said that ?  Do you think joe could do it .

Trump said it.

He went on about it for more than a week.

Clearly he thinks its a winning "issue" for him, presumably to convince people such as yourself that Biden has one foot in the nursing home while he can...er... memorize a small sequence of words.

And the reason he is focused on it is that he has f**k all else going for him. COVID and George Floyd could have been his finest hour, a chance to show he is an intelligent, considered, calm leader of real substance at a time of major crisis when Biden had no choice but to stay in the relative shadows. Instead, he's making up invitations to throw out the first pitch for the Yankees (because he is jealous of Tony Fauci being invited by the Nationals) and promoting a discredited treatment and the demon sperm doctor (and that's just this week). Whatever shortcomings Biden may or may not have, Trump has failed miserably on a whole range of fronts, is clearly not up to the job, and is looking like he will go down as one of the worst presidents of all time.

That dead Missouri senator would probably do a better job.

Kinda like how he went to that half-empty rally and spent a good ten minutes rambling on in minute detail about how we so skillfully navigated the difficult task of walking down a ramp.

One of the worst?

While my knowledge on the matter falls far short of exhaustive, I can't think of one US president I have read about that comes anywhere close to the level of ineptitude of Trump. Certainly in the modern era.

So Trump wants to delay the election. This could go well.

Yep, interested to hear the thoughts of the right wingers on here regarding that...?

you are making my point for me why don't the Democrats find a real candidate to run whose not a left wing nut or won't cave into the radical side of the party  ? most people would vote for that candidate if such a candidate existed. Joe has changed virtually every position he has previously taken on issues to appease the more radical side of party . Maybe that's what  the Democrats are now.

If the Democratic base were radical leftists, Joe wouldn't be the candidate. There were plenty such options available. He was dead and buried after Iowa, but subsequently the base coalesced around him as the primary centrist left.

If he was surrendering to the radicals as you claim, he'd be shouting about defunding the police and so on.

He's not.

And I'm not saying Joe is the dream candidate by any stretch of the imagination, but its not on account of his positions.

The GOP is the only party with the radical base and candidate.

House Unites To Reprimand GOP Lawmaker Tied To 11 Ethics Violations

The House unanimously passed a rare ethics resolution on Friday morning to reprimand Rep. David Schweikert, R-Ariz., for breaking congressional and campaign finance rules.

Schweikert agreed to pay a $50,000 fine and admitted to 11 ethics violations including the misuse of official funds.

The House Ethics Committee had been investigating Schweikert, who was elected in 2010, for more than two years. Its investigative subcommittee concluded there was "substantial reason" to believe Schweikert violated the government code of ethics, campaign finance laws, and House rules.

House investigators concluded that over a seven year period, Schweikert failed to disclose, or falsely disclosed, $305,000 in loans or loan repayments and failed to report more than $140,000 in campaign contributions.

A 13-page report detailing the committee's investigation and findings points to Schweikert's campaign accepting over $270,000 from his then-chief of staff, Richard Schwab, which is a violation of campaign finance laws.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Ethics Committee also said Schweikert had misused his congressional allowance for "unofficial purposes" and pressured "official staff to perform campaign work."

The findings say Schweikert made "vague or misleading comments" that "allowed him to evade the statue of limitations for the most egregious violations of campaign finance laws."

Continued the report: "Efforts like the ones Rep. Schweikert undertook to delay and impede the [investigative subcommittee] investigation were not only highly detrimental to the committee's work and reputation of the House, they were themselves sanctionable misconduct."

Rep faulted over breach of trust

Speaking before the House on Friday morning, Ethics Committee Chair Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., emphasized the consequence of breaking the public trust.

"One of our most basic obligations as members of Congress is to adhere to the principle that public office is a public trust. To uphold that trust, and to maintain civic confidence in the integrity of this body, we as members have bound ourselves by certain standards of official conduct," he said.

Deutch went on to encourage congressional members and staff to approach the committee if they have ethics questions to "avoid the mistakes like those made by Rep. Schweikert."

"The committee's nonpartisan advisory staff is always available to answer any ethics related questions, to hold special training sessions for members and employees in addition to the mandated annual ethics trainings and to issue advisory opinions upon request," he said.

Schweikert filed a response to the committee saying that while he thought he could refute some allegations, he decided to settle because the process "was time consuming and extremely costly."

The House reprimand is a major blow to Schweikert, who faces a tough race in Arizona's competitive 6th district, which spans Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Four Democrats will face off in an Aug. 4 primary.

Schweikert's top Democratic opponent, Dr. Hiral Tipirneni, said Schweikert had "abused his power and betrayed the public trust."

As NPR member station KJZZ's Steve Goldstein reports, Schweikert was already expected to face an intense challenge, partly because the electorate wants to see increased action on combating racial injustice.

Conservative death cult update:

The White House reportedly scrapped a national testing plan because the virus was mostly hitting blue states

Lives likely could've been saved if the White House had focused on people rather than politics when the pandemic began, Vanity Fair reports.

Unlike other countries, the U.S. has struggled to present a unified national strategy on COVID-19 testing, and the country now leads the world both in confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths. But it reportedly had experts developing a testing plan since the virus' beginnings — and then scrapped it entirely once it appeared the virus was largely hitting Democratic states, one expert tells Vanity Fair.

Despite his lack of scientific or governmental experience, President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner took charge of the testing plan and stacked a team with "bankers and billionaires," Vanity Fair writes. But diagnostic testing experts were eventually called in, and the team created a plan to tackle testing supply shortages and delays in reporting results.

"The plan, though imperfect, was a starting point," Vanity Fair writes, and "would have put us in a fundamentally different place" today, one person who worked on it said. But it faced resistance from the top of the White House, where Trump reportedly worried high test numbers would hurt the economy and his re-election prospects. And perhaps most disturbingly, one member of the team suggested there was no point in rolling out the plan because the virus seemed to be hitting blue states, an expert told Vanity Fair. "The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy," the expert said.

All of that might explain why Kushner was so hopeful just a few months ago.

About 20 years ago, a dead Democrat beat the Republican candidate to win a Senate seat in Missouri.

I thought that was only a West Wing story, didn't realise they based it on something real.

If he does this alone he's earned another 4 years.

Yes, Tik Tok is the major problem facing the US and will balance out the rest of his presidency and make another four years worth it.
