Presumably Mal Mackin isn't listed as he is also injured

I'm with you on this one, Max. His style of writing is brutal, it's the way he constructs his sentences, he's all over the shop.

Glensman used Charlie Vernon as an example of players being criticised, I think all posters here would like to see Charlie in our championship team so I think he's picked a bad example. Can't remember any Armagh poster criticising Charlie (why would we?), the debate is to where he would be best used on the team, surely that's fair enough.  Tintin criticised him in a post there, I stand to be corrected but I don't think he's an Armagh poster.

Uladh, surely Paul McKeown would be the better prospect given his better performances in the Ulster campaign for Cross. He also plays in a positon that we could be doing with some cover in, Skinny is a wing back and i think that's one area that we are relatively strong in.

Hardy, you were asking why it's a bad idea to waken someone who is sleepwalking, I fell into the bath one night while sleep walking and it scared the sh1te out of me, coming out of a deep sleep not knowing what the hell was going on, if I'd a dicky heart there would have been trouble.

You said you were dealing with a broker, have a word with them, if they are worth their salt they can suss the situation out for sure. It's one of the advantages of dealing with a broker rather than directly with a company. They can ring the company and without mentioning names or policy numbers they can ask the company what their attitude would be.

Skull, it depends how much she is claiming for. If it is less than £400/500 then the company will not send out a loss adjuster and thereby you could just sign the form in your father-in-law's name and the company would be none the wiser. If it's above this figure then they may send out a loss adjuster and there'll be more difficulties. Another thing to watch out for is that the claim cheque will be made payable to the policyholder normally, you'll have to work your way round that one too.

Hank, I can see where you're coming from with your comments although what I would say is Enda has been poor over the last couple of League campaigns but seemed to up the performance in the Championship.
I should have included Gerard in the list earlier.

I agree Chris, I think this latest revelation speaks more about the Americans than it does about Rafa. What sort of way is this to treat your manager? I think it's lawrenson who stated on radio that he heard the Americans will be away before Rafa. I hope so if this is how they treat their manager and the mess they're making of the proposed new stadium.
Rafa should be given more time like Slur Alex was given, he obviously has a passion for the club and has a proven track record.

Yesterday, for the first time in 3 matches, I saw an Armagh midfielder do well, it's just he happened to be playing for the opposition.  Gareth O'Neill did his chances do harm at all yesterday.  If we take the sole exercise of the McKenna cup to be unearthing new players, then who has furthered their cause?
For me, Kevin O'Rourke,Gregory Loughran,Stefan Forker (in glimpses),Gareth O'Neill, Nippy Swift deserve a few outings in the League to prove themselves. The others are all young players, for example Brian McCone did much better yesterday, and another year will bring them on further.
Really feel we need to hit the ground running in the League as the "easier" matches are at the start with home matches to Cavan and Roscommon sandwiching an away trip to Mullingar. We would want some momentum for the visit of the Dubs and the Cork men and a Saturday night trip to Meath. Could do without a repeat of the last two league campaigns where we were constantly under the cloud of relegation.

Team was:
1. P Rodgers 2. Gerard McCreesh 3. E McNulty 4. G McCoy 5. C McKeever 6. A'Rourke 7. F Morairty 8. R Austin 9. D Edwards 10. B Mallon 11. G Loughran 12. L O'Hare 13. M O'Rourke 14. G Swift 15. K O'Rourke

Couple of points on that report I though Swift played well, only criticism is that sometimes he tried to take too much out of the ball but hopefully he gets an extended run. I can't agree with the assessment on Paddy McKeever, yes he scored a great point at the end of the first half and hit a great pass in for one of the early points in the second half but he also came up with some of his usual errors. I thought Conor Clarke was poor when he came on with Forker showing fairly well.
Hope Ronan Austin's injury isn't as bad as it looked, the lad was in agony, very unfortunate, just seemed to land awkwardly.

GAA Discussion / Re: Armagh v Fermanagh
January 10, 2008, 11:14:28 AM
Was at the match last night, both in terms of entertainment and Armagh performance, there was a slight improvement. Fermanagh were well drilled and worked the blanket defence fairly well. The lack of midfield options for Armagh were worsened when Ronan Austin broke his ankle at the throw in. We really suffered in midfield all night, Mark Quinn was brought on to replace Austin and to be fair to the lad he was lost there. Nippy Swift stemmed the flow there for a while when he was moved out from full forward.
The positives were better passing out of defence with Aidan O'Rourke to the fore, more promise shown by Gregory Loughran who took a couple of good points, he tackled well dispossessing Fermanagh players coming out with the ball on a number of occasions, and he worked tirelessly for the team. K O'Rourke hit a few good points also.
Negatives were in the main part in midfield, Brian Mallon didn't play as well (two matches in a few days was obviously too much at this stage). The goal that was conceded was from a high ball where Paudie Rodgers was left jumping against two or three Fermanagh forwards and the ball was punched to the net by McBarron. The referee was abysmal, stopping play repeatedly to book and tick players which could have been done at the next break in play. We again got off to a horrendous start and were playing catch up all night.

Now we're getting somewhere!!! I knew your anti-Armagh bias would've been a factor!! Look, since Donaghy has come on the scene every journalist in the country has talked about him transforming football, which is balix also, I presume this is his angle on that. The target man has been used the annals of time and Kernan refers to the use of the Bomber in the article.
I am not a fan of Kieran Shannon because of one pro-Armagh article, I said what I thought of him months ago on a separate thread.

Don't think the 7 quid should have been a major surprise, sure that was the cost last year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a learning curve for McDonnell as well, don't want to be over critical, and I don't give a stuff if we lost all three McKenna Cup games but you have to be fair to the guys that are being tried out.
You have three group games, in each of those games you play eight or nine untested players, alongside the more established stars. That would give you a chance to see maybe ten to fifteen new players over say two games each in a fairer environment. It would also give the more established stars some game time before the League.
