GAA Discussion / Government F**Ks GAA again
April 22, 2021, 04:59:06 PM

Sport Ireland have announced that the government is to pump €5.8m into the FAI this year.
The funding is part of the rescue package agreed in the wake of the FAI's financial meltdown.
According to a statement from Sport Ireland it is earmarked for the FAi's development programmes but will require final approval from the Board of Sport Ireland before being paid.
In the round of funding announced today the GAA will receive €2,389,653 while the IRFU will get €2,250,843. These grants support coaching, games development and technical development programmes in the two organisations.

https://www.independent.ie/sport/sport-ireland-announce-government-funding-of-58m-allocated-to-fai-with-24m-to-gaaand-225-for-irfu-40343130.html

Bad and all as demoting the GAA from being an 'ELITE' Sport and Declaring Women rugby as one
they give IRFU as much Money as much Bigger GAA
and to add insult to injury the Knackers in the FAI get twice that amount mainly on the Basis that they fucked their own Finances  up so badly and gifted the bosses millions ,
Who then refused to recognize  any part  The Govermnent plays in their Survival and refused to answer the dails Questions .
This is an organization that has got 10's of millions from the Government over the year and tey do not have one useable ground to their credit . and yet have the cheek of trying to host Tournament on Rugby and FootbaLL pitches.

GAA Discussion / Do sky have sole right to the final?
September 03, 2019, 04:07:05 PM
this would put a cat amongst the pigeons if sky play hardball

from RTE website

Speaking to the Irish Examiner today, RTÉ's Head of Sport Declan McBennett said nothing would change in how the national broadcaster form their panels:

McBennett said no decision has been made as to who will be involved in their coverage of Saturday week's replay. "There are a number of factors involved. Technically, we don't have the rights for a Saturday night highlights programme so there are issues around that. We have to work out how many panels we need and then work on that and decide whether we're going with the same panels. That will all be finalised in the next three or four days. I'm getting plenty of views about it but no decisions have been made."

Every time there there is a major banking change the forst people to figure it out are faraudsters and charlatans so how are they going to use PSD2..

in case you don't know what it is
from indo
just seems rife for explotation to me..

The main elements of PSD2:

• With a customer's permission, a bank must allow an outside company authorised by regulators to take a payment directly from an account for goods and services.

• A bank must allow an outside firm to access transactions history from a customer's account for the purposes of aggregating information from several current and savings accounts into a single "dashboard".

• Tougher customer authentication of online payments will be introduced from the second half of 2019.

• Banks will have to spell out reasons for refusing an application for a new account, making it harder to hide behind generic concerns like money laundering.

• Banks are required to give refunds for unauthorised transactions.

• Outside payment firms must respond to complaints within 15 days.

• Firms authorised under PSD2 are not allowed to take deposits or grant loans like traditional banks.

• Most PSD2 firms that take data from a bank account will also come under a separate EU General Data Protection Regulation that comes into force in May to reinforce safeguards on personal data.

Tallaght Stadium, the new home of Shamrock Rovers, is to receive €825,000 from the RAPID Sports Capital grant fund.

Rovers, the most successful side in League of Ireland history, have been without a permanent home for two decades since leaving Glenmalure Park in Milltown in 1987.

The new stadium also received a €2.75 million grant from the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism this year.

GAA Discussion / leix versus mayo 3
March 02, 2008, 12:59:21 AM
sorry for starting another one . the 1st one disappeared and the second one is locked.
Whats going on.
I can suure people we coulnd get arise out of the laois feckers  on this thread at all so there were no rows at all. hopefully calling the  Lelx will upset them
As to the game Very entertaining it was and a draw by definetly the right result.
best for leix  were Clancy Tierney(08 points)  and  young quigley has peobably ended BJP reign at full back.
Best for mayo were heaney (no news there) andy moran and keith higgins. JOM made a characteristicallybizzare decision with quigley on fire to put Shurle's Conreu on to mark him and fair play it worked to a certain extent but a weird move any way
another good move was the welcome intro of Mcgarrity at half time he curbed a very dominant Clancy.
While 4 points from austin was a good return  he still does not convince as a county player not i fear does James gill a brave hearted man but lacking the  extra bit required

Homeless Shamrock Rovers should finally be moving into their new stadium in 2009.

The High Court has cleared the way for South Dublin County Council to complete construction of a community stadium in west Dublin.

Thomas Davis GAA club had taken judicial review proceedings against the Council for its part in the project in Tallaght but the judgement went against them today.

Rovers Club Chairman Jonathan Roche says the club was delighted with the decision

from  guardian.co.uk

There were few outward signs of a terrorism alert in north Cornwall yesterday. Visitors milled around Padstow's busy harbour as usual while further down the coast at Newquay surfers lounged about on a warm, waveless day.
But behind the scenes at Cornwall's two most famous eateries, Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen in Newquay, security was being stepped up after Cornish extremists claimed they were planning to target two of the country's most famous chefs.
A group calling itself the Cornish National Liberation Army (CNLA) threatened to burn down one of Stein's businesses in Padstow and declared the cars of his customers legitimate targets.
The group said Fifteen - a restaurant set up by Oliver to help disadvantaged Cornish youngsters find a career in catering - was also in its sights, and branded the chef an "incomer" who was hurting local people by driving up house prices and living costs.
CNLA, which claimed to include members of the An Gof organisation - militants suspected of a series of attacks in the 1980s, including an explosion at a courthouse in St Austell, added it would target anyone who flew the flag of St George, which they called "imperialistic and tainted".
It claimed one of its activists had previously been involved in the burning of English people's holiday homes in Wales and said it had significant funding from other "Celtic nations" and the US.
The threats, made to a local morning newspaper via an Arabic web-hosting service, were being taken seriously by the police and the chefs. A police spokesman said yesterday: "Devon and Cornwall constabulary ... have made immediate contact with proprietors of various businesses and are actively working together, with a view to ensure that appropriate crime prevention measures are maintained."
There was outrage from across the political spectrum at the threats, a sense of disbelief from the businesses named and bemusement at the group's targets.
The CNLA claimed it was a amalgamation of An Gof, which takes its name from a 15th-century rebel leader, and another group, the Cornish Liberation Army.
But police sources said they were unclear whether the threats were the work of cranks operating from a spare bedroom or something more serious. Earlier this year a message purporting to be from An Gof surfaced in which the group threatened to destroy all St George flags. A flag in Tresillian, south Cornwall, was subsequently cut to ribbons and the slogan "English Out" daubed on a garden wall.
The leader of Cornwall county council, David Whalley, said some of the CNLA's concerns - such as the difficulty many locals have buying homes - were valid but their tactics were not. "It's unfortunate these people feel so alienated," he said.
Dick Cole, the leader of Mebyon Kernow, a political party that campaigns for greater self-government for Cornwall, said he was "very saddened" at the threats and called CNLA a "pseudo-terrorist group".
Malcolm Bell, chief executive of South West Tourism, said: "A few years ago this lot would have been dismissed like Wolfie Smith and his Tooting Popular Front. Since 9/11 and the July 7 attacks you have to take it seriously."
But there was some support on Cornish websites. On the Cornishman newspaper's site, Michael Wright, an exile from St Austell, said: "The Cornish people are being cheated out of their own country. I wish I could do more for the liberation of Kernow [Cornwall]."
In its email, entitled "directive number one", the CNLA echoed recent comments from Stein that local businesses had benefited from the "rosy glow" of publicity his ventures had attracted, the CNLA said one of its activists was involved in the burning of cottages in Wales and added: "At a unspecified date, Rick Stein will himself feel a 'rosy glow' in our Cornish port of Padstow."
