So it's the start of a new year for Down and we start of with a home game against Fermanagh.It could have been  a lot worse for us in terms of who we played first.A home game against a team we are very much capable of winning

a match we are capable of winning but a match we are also just as capable of losing. even though its the start of febuary this match could be vital to determine what sort of year down will have. hopefully we can get the win that would give a much needed boost to players and supporters.

Decent run in the McKenna cup, a very settled team and  a system where everyman knows his job.
We also  have Pete McGrath on the sideline.

Down team named as Cunningham, McAleenan, G McGovern,D O'Hagan, Collins, C McGovern, McArdle, Carr, Flynn, Murphy, Maginn, Millar, Davidson, Havern, B O O'Hagan.

It's not the side most people would have been expecting, and there must be a chance that McKernan picked up a knock in the Sigerson during the week. O'Hanlon, Johnston and Mooney are presumably on the bench and are likely to appear as well as both Turleys and perhaps Poland.

Davidson was a certainty to start in the attack after his form in January, while Millar and Havern have been given a big opportunity after working hard without making a huge impact so far.

This looks like a very tight game, and Down, after losing 12 league and championship matches on the bounce, will not be short of motivation.

Any of the shopping centres. It'll cost you a couple of quid and a ten minute walk but you'll get away fast at the end. Whatever you do don't drive past the ground and park in the Greenbank....you'll be there for the night.

Down are very poor.
They will struggle to stay in the division with a second half performance like that.

Down should have had at least one goal before half time but when Fermanagh went in a point up and blitzed them at the start of the second half the game was over. Down did briefly rally but the Fermanagh goal killed the game off.

Anyways a good start to the league for Fermanagh with a lot of positives to take from that

With Down humiliated in their own back yard Fermanagh, how long before the knives are out for Burns. They have yet to win a competitive fixture since he took over but yet Jim McCorry was sacked after one season during which he got a promotion from div 2. You would have to have some sympathy for Burns as I don't think he has the players, however you would also have to ask questions of the Down county board in terms of who hires and fires their managers. They have made some crazy decisions over the years.

Burns clearly hasn't the ability to get the best players in Down on the pitch. Martin Clarke is on record saying he wasn't approached. Incredible oversight by Burns
