Why not just post in here instead of a standalone site.
It was a sanitised forum with no real room for proper debate and discourse. Yes some things were getting out of hand and should have been dealt with ie ban the individual and not close the thread.
It also seems a few clubs/individuals don't like being criticised.

One of my main reasons for using the Armagh forum apart from the fact that I liked it was because this site is blocked in my workplace & it wasn't, plus there is no app for this site, well not that I can find anyway.

Never mind banning members, Hope all talk of soup is banned on new site. Did my head in!

As I was involved in the above mentioned topic on a few occasions I can only say it was all very much tongue in cheek & just a bit of harmless banter, I don't think it really detracted from what overall was a well run, well liked site. I genuinely hope that a lot of the regular members find their way onto the new site as I enjoyed reading the majority of the posts even if I didn't necessarily agree with all of the opinions. I guess at this stage I will give the new site a go & if it's not for me I can leave.

Armagh / Closure of Official Armagh Fans Forum
October 04, 2017, 07:46:46 PM
I see the official county forum has closed which is a shame, it had a good following among supporters & there were a quite a few insightful members plus it also provided a bit of banter.  I think this had been building for a while & there had been a few warnings about closing the site but it still feels rather abrupt.  In my opinion it would have been a good idea to post a message notifying members that the site was closing permanently with a brief explanation as to why rather than just a message saying it could no longer be accessed!! but it seems this is obviously the end of it & time to move on.

I didn't stick with fortitude. Good or shite?? I see sci-fi being mentioned there. First sign of sci fi is usually when I turn off.

By the end of Series 1 I vowed I would not be watching Series 2 but I have recorded the 1st episode of Series 2 & decided to give 3 episodes a go, if it's still rubbish I will be ditching it.

I know I am always months behind people on here, but Narcos!

Gripping stuff.
I'm always years behind but watched Narcos before you. Stick that up yer hole.
Great viewing.

Has anyone ever seen The Sopranos? Is it worth watching?

The greatest TV show ever made. Still pine for it and compare it to everything else . My opinion anyway.

+1 - what a show

I only got watching The Sopranos recently when it was repeated on Sky.  I wanted to watch it because I was aware it was one of the "must see" shows which people rave about.  First episode I was thinking" is this for me? I'm not really getting this" but I usually go 2 or 3 episodes before deciding either way, 3 episodes in I was hooked, brilliant show, one I would certainly recommend.  My favourite episode was when Christopher & Paulie got stuck out in the forest in the snow, most shocking for me related to Adriana (no spoilers). The ending though, I had to rewind a few times just to be sure I hadn't missed something & then proceeded to read all about it on the internet.  If you have never seen this series, watch it you won't be disappointed

GAA Discussion / Re: 2017 GAA Season Ticket
October 12, 2016, 04:16:33 PM
I am interested to hear others opinions/experiences regarding the following issue.

I have purchased 2 Season tickets for myself & my Dad for the past 2 years & have now received my email as regards renewing our Season tickets for this year.  I am currently undecided as to whether to go ahead with renewing my Dad's ticket.  My Dad is a senior citizen & I attend all matches with him, within the scheme there is no option to purchase a Season ticket for a senior citizen & this year in particular as our county has dropped to Division 3 an adult Season ticket purchase for him does not make economical sense.  The reasons I purchased for both of us initially were because we attend all the matches & it saves the hassle of constantly having to purchase tickets for league matches & also it made no sense that I had a Season ticket & he didn't come Championship time as the reality is we may not have been able to sit together at the 1st match (included in the Season ticket price).

Surely we are not the only people in this situation?  From attending League matches regularly it is evident that many of the "die hard" supporters are from the older generation.  I have emailed the Season Ticket Scheme in relation to this but I was not overly happy with the reply, as it indicated that there is already the incentive of a significant discount re. the price therefore no further concessions & the advantage of being guaranteed tickets as long as your county stays in the Championship.  While the latter is of huge significance to supporters from Dublin, Mayo & Kerry, it is of no real relevance to myself given my county's poor Championship run in recent years.

My point is I think it is unfair of the GAA to neglect this category of supporter within the scheme & while it may not have been something they could have incorporated during the teething stages surely it has been around for long enough now for this to have been rectified?

Apologies for the lengthy post but as stated at the beginning I am genuinely interested to hear others opinions, views or experiences in relation to this.

Wayward Pines any use?

It's alright, really good build up in the 1st Season in the early episodes as to what was really going on but for me it lost it's way a bit after that.  I did still watch the 2nd Season & actually preferred it to Season 1.

Wasn't that impressed with the second half of 'The Night Of'. It felt a bit rushed and the ending was a bit shit. Turturro as the lawyer was excellent from start to finish though.
Of the shows that I am watching:
-Second series of Narcos has started well.
-Suits has been shit for the last number of seasons but I still catch up on it every now and then.
-Power is ok just but I am kind of getting bored with it and some of the characters are getting on my nerves.
-New season of Ray Donovan is decent enough.
-New season of Fear the walking dead is crap so far.
-New season of Ballers is much the same as the first, an easy watch.
-Vice Principals is ok just, not as funny as I had hoped and nowhere near as good as Eastbound and Down.

Definitely forgetting some there. Nothing to replace the likes of Gomorrah so far. Was going to start The West Wing but never got round to it and would rather wait until midterm break.

Anyone watched Secrets and lies?

Yes I watched Secrets & Lies. I enjoyed it but would have preferred if it had been 1 series with everything tied up & left at that, will probably still watch the 2nd series though.  It might not be gritty enough for you though, it's definitely no Gomorrah.

I'll have a look at that 11.22.63. Looks like it has a decent cast anyway! Also might have a look at 'The Killing'. Thing it's from Denmark or somewhere.

I've watched Stranger Things and didn't like it. The acting, music etc was brilliant but it's just not my sort of show. The monsters and underworld thing is just too far fetched for me.

Night of is brilliant, can't wait to find out what happens. Finished Last Chance U yesterday, really enjoyed it. American Footballers seem like complete pricks. The black quarter back thought he was a superstar and he was hardly getting any game time!

One show I have always sort of wanted to watch is 'The West Wing'.

I have watched both 11.22.63 & The Killing, wouldn't be overly enthused by either although I would say The Killing is the better of the two.  Have you already watched The Shield? I think it is definitely worth watching, also Containment is quite good although I am only at episode 5 with it.

Yeah the Shield is one of my favourite shows ever.

Screenexile has convinced me though! Going to start West Wing. Anyone ever watched 1992? Italian show.

After the West Wing, just in case you haven't already viewed these, Banshee,Ray Donovan & 19-2 would be worth a watch.

I absolutely love Gomorrah, it is right up there with The Wire for me as a show that should be watched.

Is anyone watching Outcast?  I thought the 1st episode was brilliant, especially the opening scenes but as it has progressed I think it has lost it's way slightly as regards the plot.

It looks as though I joined in April 2007, it must have been a slow day in work  ;)

You're not exactly a turbo poster are you, roughly 9 per year...

I read but rarely comment, I'd be more active on my county forum.  Two posts today though so getting close to my yearly quota already!!!!  ;D
