I'd love to meet the london boys in an ulster final ... there'd be no bother getting tickets considering their support

Please delete those last few posts as it kills my phone when I'm scrolling.

I always wondered could they put a few links on each page to jump to the end or the start or even the middle

If anyone is putting the game online, any chance they could do it on www.irishtorrents.com ?? Not bad for GAA, got this years final on there.

I used to have that game somewhere,  god knows where it is now, probably got taped over by Coronation Street. I know for sure I have the 1994 Gaelic Games Video hosted by Jimmy Magee, must wreck out the VHS payer from the attic!

This game has put me in a nostalgic mood... anyone remember the tape they had out that year ('95) with the dodgy song with lyrics such as... "Tyrone are the best team in the country, from every part of the county we will go, as we make our way to dublin in september tyrone will bring the sam maguire home" ... with diddly dee in between most lines.
I can't think about that game without the line from the song "...and with 13 men against the wind in Clones, for the red hand men it was a merry dance!"
The tape had a poem as a B-side, was quite moody, about Ulster teams winning Sam in the early 90s if I recall. Anyone else burn it out in the tape deck of a cavalier???  :D

Tyrone always were the worst for that craic  ::)

Also heard a few at it at the Armagh match in Clones last year.  Always thought it was funny, its like a piss-take of your own people and gloating over your heritagebeing taken away.

(Or maybe just a good way to get us pissed off  :D)

Very, very fond memories of this one, ranks right up there with the All Ireland semi's and finals from 03 and 05 as well as this years final for me.  Think I a video tape of it, must take a look for it.

Deadly memories. Did that include the Ballad if Iggy Jones or was that the '86 tape.

Remember Canavan is the Man?
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

The Iggy Jones song was on the 1995 tape on Side B - there was some muck on there particularly "The Footballers Deck of Cards"

The aul fella has the tape knocking around somewhere - I remember listening to it on the way to Croker for the final in 2003

Any of you got the word to the Iggy Jones Ballad.

Another Tyrone classic but not on that tape - Eugene Mc Kenna the Pride of little Augher Tyrone and Ireland too.

Not the Ballad but a fine peice nonetheless in the Roscommon Herald 3 years ago:

Iggy Jones
WHENEVER I see Tyrone teams in action I am reminded of some of the great Tyrone players of the past. The first player who comes to mind is the great Iggy Jones.

I will never forget the day in Sligo about 10 years ago when I called to my dentist to tell him the news that Iggy Jones had died suddenly while on holidays in Donegal. He actually died while attending a wedding. An avid Tyrone supporter, my dentist was ashen faced when he heard the news. Of all the great Tyrone footballers you can mention, the one name that I always associate with the Red hand is one Iggy Jones. If there is one player I regret not having seen in action it is the great Dungannon man.

By all accounts he was a real wizard, one of the great artists of Gaelic football. From his days as a student in St. Patrick's College, Armagh, the diminutive Iggy was regarded as a supreme stylist. He had become a legend in his own lifetime in colleges' football, particularly in Northern Ireland. There used to be a photo in the school and under it they had put the inscription 'Jones' – nothing more. Every student in the college knew who 'Jones' was. He had made a major contribution in bringing the first Colleges' All-Ireland title (The Hogan Cup) to the school in 1946. St. Patrick's defeated the famous St. Jarlath's, Tuam, in the final. Seán Purcell was at centre-half forward for St. Jarlath's that day and he was marked by the great Eddie Devlin.

By all accounts it was a classic duel in a classic game. The Armagh college won by a single point in a high scoring game, 3-11 to 4-7. I contacted my good friend Jack Mahon who played against Jones in the All-Ireland semi-final of 1956. He said, "Iggy Jones was the finest colleges' footballer I have ever seen." He mentioned that All-Ireland Colleges' final of 1946. Iggy Jones missed a penalty in the first half but scored 3-4 from play in the second half. St. Jarlath's turned the tables the following year and 10 years later in 1957 Seán Purcell and Eddie Devlin faced each other again in the league semi-final.

Iggy Jones was famous for his solo run. He was only about 5' 7" and weighed no more than 9 stone. He could waltz and jink his way through a defence like a hot knife through butter. I am told that he would approach a defender soloing with his right foot but he would pass him out soloing with the left or vice versa. In the All-Ireland semi-final against Galway in 1956 he made a famous run down the right wing in the second half, side-stepping his way past man after man and then faced by goalie Jack Mangan, he tried to punch the ball over his head to the net. The Galway captain, however, was equal to it and Iggy's effort and caught the ball and cleared it to safety. Jack Mahon recalls that game. He can still remember that solo run as Jones "zig zagged" through the Galway defence but took the wrong option when face to face with Jack Mangan. Owen Mulligan's solo run against Dublin last Saturday reminded him of that solo run in 1956. Galway won the game by 0-8 to 0-6.

That Tyrone team had some famous footballers. The Devlin brothers, Jim and Eddie, were outstanding. Sadly, Jim was shot dead a few years ago in the sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. I can still remember the great names as if it was only last year, Thady Turbett in goals, Brian McSorley, Jody O'Neill, an outstanding midfielder, sheep farmer Jackie Taggart a tower of strength on the 'forty', Seán Donnelly, Paddy Corey, Frankie Higgins, John Joe O'Hagan, all great players, but the greatest of them all was Iggy Jones. Tyrone lost the 1956 All-Ireland semi-final to Galway and they literally threw away the 1957 semi-final to Louth as they squandered one great scoring chance after another. Some great players have worn the famous white and red jersey since; Frank McGuigan, Eugene McKenna, Plunkett Donaghy, Peter Canavan to mention but a few, but by all accounts Iggy Jones was the greatest stylist of them all.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.
