GAA Discussion / Question about extra time
August 11, 2015, 10:10:14 PM
If a player is booked during normal time , and then is booked during extra time, does this equal a red card? Or does the extra time represent a new game, I.e. All players start with a clean slate?

Anyone see Robbie's nija kick in Australia?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaOtaFqlUMI&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eboards%2Eie%2Fvbulletin%2Fshowthread%2Ephp%3Ft%3D318578%26page%3D5440&feature=player_embedded

It got investigated after the game, and Robbie got off with it, saying it was 100% accident. Im not so sure though!

Oxegen 2009

Bloc Party are among the latest names confirmed for this year's Oxegen festival.
The art-rockers will be joined by indie pop group The Script and the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer Katy Perry.

Today's confirmations join headliners The Killers, Snow Patrol and Kings Of Leon, who will play for the second consecutive year.

Oxegen 2009, which was voted Best European Festival last year, will take place at Punchestown Racecourse, County Kildare from 10-12 July.

Anyone thinking of heading to it this year?

General discussion / Moving to Canada
January 10, 2009, 03:15:08 PM
Does anyone know is there a visa required for an irish passport holder to move to canada to work?

I have heard reports that a similar working holiday visa as australia is required....if so, is there any limit to the length of time you spend in the country or the length of time you work for the one employer?

Pepe Reina, Liverpool: He has become the best goalkeeper in the world. The shame is that with Spain he cannot perform regularly as the weight, history and influence of Casillas gives him priority.

Chiellini, Juve: Even Ancelotti says publicly he is the best defender in Italy. That says it all. He could improve playing the ball, but defensively he is a rock

Pepe, Real Madrid: If he didn't have so many injuries, he would be considered the best defender in the world. Fast, strong, clever and can play the ball. All you need from a centre-back in a team that leaves them exposed

Marquez, Barcelona: He is not as quick as he used to be, but now he replaces that with intelligence and he is the first forward when he recovers the ball; there are always good intentions in his passes.

Ronaldo, Manchester United: If Cristiano was a bit more humble I would like him to win all the accolades because he is the kind of player that makes things happen. But I still put a question mark next to him because apart from his personality - or maybe because of it - he still doesn't make an impact in all the big games, like Messi does.

Xavi, Barcelona: A friend and a player I admire. I love chatting football to him, he is a clever man but this year he has added goals and leadership to his game, so that makes him one of the top midfielders in the world.

De Rossi, Roma: The all-rounder. The player any manager would like to have in his team. An obedient, hardworker who has lots of quality on the ball.

Iniesta, Barcelona: He is one of the top left sided midfielders in the world. Used in the centre, in the right of the midfield, or the right of the attack, he is also one of the best in the world. He has one of those priceless qualities - to be an eight out of ten in any position any given day.

Messi, Barcelona The only player of this generation that will belong to the Olympus of di Stefano, Pele, Cruyff, Maradona and Zidane. Wait and you will see.

Torres, Liverpool: This could have been Benzema, Kun Aguero, del Piero, even Eto'o. Torres went through the difficult event of changing team and competition with total success, plus there was that goal in the Vienna final. One day I will explain the crazy things I did at that particular moment!

Ribery, Bayern Munich: He is a step above anybody in the Bundesliga; only Luca Toni comes close. As direct as usual, fast, aggressive and cheeky. He could take Bayern to the next level if only they had better defenders.

http://www.herald.ie/national-news/city-news/bar-pushes-all-you-can-drink-offer-for-euro50-1518900.html

By Kevin Doyle

Monday November 03 2008

A city centre bar is to introduce a Las Vegas style all-you-can-drink evenings for the promoted cost of €50.

The offer by SIN Theatre in Temple Bar may prove controversial but bar management say it needs to find new ways of overcoming the drop in sales.

The deal will see punters make a €50 payment at door for an "all inclusive" night.

Included in the fee is admission, cloakroom, live entertainment, drinks and a pizza slice on your way home.

According to SIN General Manager Ciaran Gray, the aim is to attract drinkers out of their homes and back into town and it is fully legal.

"The new laws already mean that we're only busy for about two hours a night, so we're hoping this will get people in early and that they'll stay," he said.

Figures from Vintners' associations state that 1,500 pubs have closed nationwide since 2001.

And among the main reasons cited is the high rate of tax on alcohol, continuing growth of home drinking and the overall decline in consumption.

Mr Gray said that he has cleared the idea with gardai and is prepared for any criticisms of the scheme.

"It will absolutely not encourage excessive drinking because we'll be as strict on that as ever.

"We're over-21s and all staff have training in the responsible service of alcohol."

Mr Gray added: "We're really going to up the entertainment side of things as well so that it's not all about drinking."

The move came on the same weekend that another Dublin bar was strongly criticised for offering cut-price drink promotions to patrons wearing fancy dress.

Do yous feel this is a good thing or not?

I know drinking in dublin would easily cost you 3 times the fee, but will this lead to increased violence etc.

also would you like to be stuck in the one place all nite, most probably with a twenty minute wait at the bar?

Has anyone been in this spot before, is it any use?

GAA Discussion / Game of the year?
September 21, 2008, 10:21:05 PM
It has been a very good championship this year, with alot of twists and turns.

What has been the best game of this year?

My vote would go to the Down Tyrone replay in June!
