We have a bench now that is good for closing out a game bringing on the likes of Frank Burns, Richie Donnelly even the likes of the younger players like Niall Devlin/Seanie O'Donnell are in that mould as well. McShane is a bit of an outlier in that we don't know what shape he is in and if he can impact the game. I would imagine if we are 3 or 4 down with 15 minutes to go they will take a chance on him producing something.
The lack of strength in depth on the Tyrone bench is what is going to cause them issues?  They have a excellent keeper, fb line, midfield and ff line but at this level you are going to need more than players who are good at closing the game out.  Donnelly for me has never really cut the mustard, Devlin and O'Donnell are untested at this level.

Sludden is an obvious player on bench who is out of form and would be a key man to come in. McShane is not the player to close out a game but does attract the ball in Croke Park

Thats my point. Our bench is grand when we are winning and need to make a few changes in the last 10 to defend a lead. The issue is on Saturday if we are chasing the game with 10/15 minutes to go. We will have no choice but to throw McShane in when we don't know what kind of form in basically because apart from Sludden he is our only forward option on the bench.

Is there any chance they will put Burns in front the start and leave Ruairi as a bench option?
Very good chance this happens, Burns was very good in the league game against Kerry playing in front of Clifford.

Edendork should have more than enough for the Moy who will also be without Coleman. Their route one football proved effective against Pomeroy as well some exceptional frees from Morgan
Morgan kicked some serious frees, thought Pomeroy were the better team but Morgans deadballs were the difference.

Tyrone lost 2 men to black cards during the 2nd half of the match and Kerry still couldnt beat them ffs!!!

U20 Hurling final postponed for 10 days after 1 player tested positive, rest deemed close contacts, Tyrone have half the squad testing positive and game only moved 6 days.

The difference may be explicable. The schedule for 1 may have allowed for a longer deferral than the other. The use of midweek alternatives may be more acceptable to participants, officials, fans and broadcasters etc for one but not for the other.

It may, but surely the players SHOULD be the most important factor in all this.

Great team alright. I'd have Morgan in goals, justy in corner back for joey and Joe at 5 in place of mattie. I'd have Kevin Hughes instead of Colm C too. The team in 05 was some side. Anyone could have won an all Ireland with those lads. (runs for cover)

Hub wasn't on the 05 team. he was in Oz

Very strange indeed. I read on Derry board that Magherafelt had to pull out of the U21's due to Ulster and according to my source this happened Slaughtneil for a few years as well. Can't understand how a competition started before the senior leagues started has not been finished long before now. Galbally should do the honourable thing and either pull out or put in a team to fulfil the fixture. They have a strong panel and arguably could win their semi final without their so called main men. Their reserves won the league as well so plenty of players available

To say they will win the U21s without their main players is ridiculous. They have invested a lot of time into their players and are entitled to ask for a competition to be held up when they represent Tyrone from Ulster. This is coming from a Carrickmore supporter and we sit waiting patiently on the min the semi final waiting to roll over with or without their main players.

Spot on Roddy, why should Galbally be punished for their success!!

Given that the advanced mark is coming in this year in Championship I am surprised we haven't brought in Ryan Coleman to have a look at him. We don't have many real standout target man forwards in the county right now. McNulty seems to have went really well over the club Championship but you'd have severe questions over his fitness given his past injury problems.

Not sure on this post but is McShane not the best equipped Target man in the county at the moment ? How many target men do you need.

Hopefully Donnelly gets back fit and we can leave him inside, I think I'd try Peter Harte inside with McShane for the league and maybe play Sludden from deeper as both struggled last year when we tinkered with our style. I do think we need to start with more of a scoring threat this year.

More than one I would assume.

You will win nothing with 1 target man. Any injury or double marking and your attacking threat is gone

I wouldn't mind seeing a side along the lines of this during the league:

-------------------------------Morgan

Rafferty--------------------McNamee-----------------R Brennan

Cassidy---------------------Sludden------------------K McGeary

-------------------R Donnelly-------Kennedy

Mulgrew--------------------Coney---------------------Meyler

Bradley------------------McShane----------------------Harte

I'd like to see Harte and McShane left inside for the most part, obviously Harte will have the inclination to drift out from time to time which is fine. I don't know if Coney has the legs for this level but I'd like to see him be given a run of games to prove himself, he certainly has qualities that no other player in our squad has, we should allow him to roam around around the 45 and midfield area and see if he can get on the ball and influence the game. I think Bradley is best utilised scheming out around the 45 too where he will get more space. I think his best season with Tyrone was 2015 when he was playing a playmaker and had some great games, particularly the semi final v Kerry.

I think we have made some subtle changes in the past two years to make us a bit more attacking but I think we need to commit more and leave two men inside and two outlets on the 45 for us too. Hoping Mulgrew can stay fit and healthy as he could be a good option at wing forward who can get through a power of work and also capable of chipping in with some scores.

With Hampsey rumoured to miss the league and Donnelly definitely out of it, it will allow certain players to put their hands up as go to men. Need another guy to come out and show himself as a leader, Hampsey did it in 2018, McShane this year, we need another player to really bring on their game next year.

No Frank Burns?????
