Cavan / Re: Official Cavan GAA Thread
August 21, 2018, 07:01:42 PM
Cavan win through to the Gerry Reilly cup final (u16) where they  play Meath. Best longford in a tight enough game but I believe the played 3/4 of the game with 14 men. Prior to that they gave Dublin a awful hiding. What's encouraging is they seem to have some individual forwards hitting big scores. For example Caoimhin O Reillys brother scored 0-9 last day, 7 from play. Fionntainn i think his name is. More critical almost than senior is that we get the right men in charge of u17 and u20 panels to bring what is obviously some great talent through.

Lads what players do we want back on the panel and what could be done to keep the turnover low eg Monaghan...

Players I'd like to see in/back are David Givney (in England) Kevin Meehan (music doesn't help), Paul Graham and maybe Andy, Eugene Keating, Gerry Smith(available again after exams), Fergal Flanagan (available again too after masters),  Paul Smith (working closer to home now), Brian O Connell, Jack Brady, Niall McDermot, Colm Smith, Conor Smith, Thomas Galligan, Niall McKiernan and Dillon. Maybe have forgot some.

Turloc Mooney, Rory Dunne

Down in this years qualifiers, what a robbery that was

I enjoyed it. Ok lot of poor shooting but it was fast and hectic and bodies were on the line for each ball. Then the finish was incredible, thought limericks had messed it up. But best team won.

Here is one of the key note speakers at the world meeting of families, the event that coincides with the popes visit...

Does it sound to any of you like much has changed, to be lectured on the family by this sc**bag.

If I contacted some of his victims and they made a complaint against him, and I then reported his presence in this country to the Garda, could he be arrested?

I'm sure the gardai would find a reaaon not tyo arrest him

Any one going to the see the pope wants a kick in the hole and should take a serious look at themselves based on latest revelations and stop looking to be offended by DUP Neanderthals
As an a la carte once or twice a year catholic, seeing the pope has no real appeal to me. but many catholics feel differently. I will credit this pope with trying to force the church to face up to the scandals and trying to do the right thing, very often in the face of opposition from more conservative elements. The DUP and UUP leaders have shown their true colours in not meeting the Pope, and it is not surprising if disappointing. For me the Pope must meet the survivors of abuse and I know he has issued apologies before, but now is the time for action in driving further reform, opening up the church to all including a greater role for women, and a harder line on scandal hit prelates.

Educate yourself lad to whom is in this popes inner circle and who covered up abuse and then realise the only thing any pope is really interested in is the retention of the power of the church

Hard to pick a loss for Cavan, there have been so many!

Two that really hurt at the time were both at U21. 1st losing to Cork after a goal keeper clanger and a great comeback. Last kick of the game into the wind, free taker had been subbed off, subbed him back on to take a very hard free to force extra time and it went wide.

The worst one though was the semi final against Dublin. Lost by a point to possibly the strongest U21 team ever put together with 6/7 of them on the current Dublin panel. Totally fucked by a bollox of a ref from Tipp (who since then has got more and more games), lost by a point. That dublin team went on to destroy a decent Ros team in the final by 20+ points. That was Cavans chance of an All Ireland gone up in smoke.

With the seniors one of the most embarrassing was needing a draw at home to Waterford to get promoted from Div 3 and some how managing to lose such an important game out of sheer arrogance.

Armagh / Re: Armagh Club football & hurling

So lads, Aidan O Rourke is a front runner for the cavan job with Poacher his number 2. What do Armagh guys think of his coaching or management skills. Did he do anything in Armagh? I know his stint in Lough didn't go well.
