Who was the highest ever scorer in one match at intercounty level?
Please don't just guess but have a name, county, score and against who is possible.

The Bearded One

Rory Gallagher scored 3-8 or 3-9 in an Ulster Championship game some years back. That's pretty impressive even if not the correct answer!
It is what it is. Presumably.

Jinxy

Yeah, I would have guessed it was Rory Gallagher.
Or possibly Matty Forde.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Aristo 60

This thread could be over very quickly if no one is allowed to guess.

My guess is it was a lady footballer.

The Bearded One

There has probably been a hurler who has plundered more than 3-8 in a game?
It is what it is. Presumably.

Sorry I mean footballer and it was from yesteryear before the 90s
I read it from a website so I presume its accurate but who knows for sure
It was a very high score of 4-11

Frank Donnelly was the scorer of 4-11 for Tyrone in a Lagan Cup match Vs Fermanagh. I believe it was in 1957.

Matt Connor's overall scoring record at intercounty is just jaw-dropping stuff especially given how short his career was  - 38 goals and 383 points and he was only 24/25 when he had his car accident.

Did the correct score make it easier to google?

First post under any name. Frank Donnelly was from my club, and that's one of those historic facts you grow up with.
