Laois / Laois Pride and Unity
December 23, 2023, 09:22:16 PM
Recently I met a lifelong Laois supporter (now in his 80's) who asked me how we can help Laois GAA to rise again. We both agreed on investment in youth, better quality club teams amongst other things.

Then he turned to me and sadly said
'What is it with Laois? We seem to have no pride. No unity. Why is that?'

It got me thinking and overall I'd agree with him. Only for short bouts of time have I ever felt that the county felt proud. During Micko's reign and Eddie Brennans were two. Minor success 96 to 98 was another time.

Our pride feels like it is at an all time low right now.

Do you agree?

How do we change that?

Are we too club focused?

Can we turn it around?

Huge day for the county and a team who have played super football all year.

BEST OF LUCK!

LAOIS! LAOIS! LAOIS!

Laois / GAA and COVID-19: Is it worth it?
August 21, 2020, 01:58:49 PM
Just a thread to gauge the general mood in the county around this pandemic. I know the enthusiasm was high when training and games returned in July but has it waned? Are people enjoying being involved or is the uncertainty, form filling and protocols draining your energy? The latest behind closed doors directive only dilutes the impact further. The uncertainty and flipflopping about attending childrens games is also unresolved.

Basically we should...
1.Pack it in for 2020?
Or
2. Plough on?

Anyone care to predict how the move to summer soccer will impact GAA?

Laois / Leinster SHC 2016

According to reports Zane Keenan is gone again. How many times does he leave and come back every year? Does he actually want to play county hurling?

Certainly a major blow if this is true.

Should county players only play county so that club players can actually have a proper fixtures schedule?

Should county boards enforce the 13 day rule and stop holding county football/hurling above everything else?

Should we go to a league format at county level so that we can produce a proper fixture list in before the season begins instead of waiting on qualifier results etc.?

Should the All-Ireland be played earlier (end of July?) so that club fixtures can be played in decent conditions in August and September?

What club scene will we have in 20 years time if we keep heading the direction we are going?

Will club players ever get to have proper set of games between April and September?
