On a wee weekend away down in Wicklow here and looking at some of the history. Made me realise the war of independence and civil war era is something I do not know enough about. Can anyone recommend any good books or docs? Or even from earlier periods? Much appreciated

GAA Discussion / AIQF Armagh v Monaghan

May as well get it started.
Hard to call. Hope we have enough to get over them. Quietly confident but I'm sure Monaghan fans are feeling the same

Mods, delete if not appropriate.
At the end of the game I wanted to go on to the field and shake this man's hand. Given the manner of their defeat I didn't think it appropriate. I've nearly 8 years sober and it can be a struggle at times. Reading his story last year and hearing him on a podcast was brilliant. It really helps when I'm down and gives me inspiration to keep up with my own training. I would have liked to have let him know that. If anyone from WM knows him could maybe tell him that his opening up about his addiction has been an inspiration and help to someone else that would be great

General discussion / relationship advice

Or rather end of relationship advice.
Mine ended a month ago. It was a short enough relationship but we spent a lot of time together in the 3 months. I was ok until the last few days when it all seems to have hit me and I just feel absolute crap now. Time of year isnt fantastic either to be honest; it was my dad's anniversary yesterday. I dont know how to get over this guys and it's eating me up inside, and I feel in a fairly dark place right now. I feel like I need to message her but I done that a couple of week ago and got nothing in return and all that waits for me if I do that is more hurt. I cant drown my sorrows as I have been sober 7 years and I know that isnt the answer. Any advice would be much appreciated

May as well get it started.
An intriguing draw. Both teams will fancy their chances without being over confident I would say.

What we reckon? Hopefully Armagh can continue with the momentum of getting to division one and run out handy winners. More like scenario is it'll be very tight with us giving away a lot of trees and hopefully scraping over the line

GAA Discussion / Coaching

Hope you guys don't mind this thread. I'm looking at moving home from England to lurgan. I'd like to get involved in GAA coaching. I know I would have to do the foundation award first but how do I go about doing it? Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
