The ref gave a few very dubious frees to St Brigids either side of half time that resulted in 3 scores. I don't think they can have too many complaints.

QuoteAbout to give out now: you can get some meaningless English/Scottish third division result on RTE but not the final score in the junior or intermediate club all-Ireland, national broadcaster my arse...and I'm not even looking for highlights....

Exactly. RTE (and UTV/BBC i think) never give the results of the junior and intermediate games. Bit of a disgrace really.

QuoteAs for Armagh Club football being strong.  Do any of our other esteeemed Armagh contributors wish to back Uladh up on this?  Im waiting!!!!

RRHF - how are you measuring the strength of the club scene?
Armagh currently mightn't be the strongest, compared to Derry for instance, but it's not exactly the weakest either. Armagh's senior club won Ulster and is in the AI final (4th time in 10 years). The intermediate club reached the Ulster final and only last narrowly after a replay to Coleraine, who are now in the AI final. Didn't fare as well on the junior front, though An Portmor didn't disgrace themselves, winning their first round game and then only narrowly beaten (while missing 2-3 key players).

For fear of being tarred anti-Tyrone here, i agree with Uladh re. Mickey Harte's total disdain for the rules of the McKenna cup.  It's not just the McKenna cup though, he's been acting a law onto himself this past couple of years. This is just another case of Mickey trying to bend/break the rules to suit himself.  Inevitably the Tyrone posters here will defend his right to do so to the hilt, while some of the rest of us might view his actions in a slightly different light.

Looks like the Tyrone county board have shot themselves in the foot with this one, giving a lesson in how to alienate  your football and hurling panels, the GAA hierarchy and the GPA in one fell swoop.  Will be interesting to see if they stand their ground over the next while or start to backtrack.

Well done to Crossmaglen.  A lot of the personnel may have changed since their last AI final appearance, but the team ethic and style of play is still the same.  I thought the difference in the teams was the range of scoring options Cross had, with St Brigids over reliant on Dolan for frees.  McConville was key again, but the younger guys like McNamee, Hanrarry, McKenna and Murtagh did the business when needed. John McEntee had his best game (at any level) in a long time.  Donal Murtagh seems to have something about him as a manager - making the right switches at the right time.  Has the makings of a good  final, regardless of who gets through from the  replay.

I presume O'Neill is referring to the IN report and the context for McDonnell's performance.  O'Neill - let it  go, there's been enough said over this nothing 'story'.

QuoteIm guessing it was a number between 1-5.

I wouldn't have thought a couple of eejits shouting would be that newsworthy. The Irish News are getting a bit of mileage out of this one.  Where's Crossan from?

Just as well Brian McAlinden and Brian Canavan were thick skinned.

I wasn't in that part of the ground so would it be good to get some perspective on this. Was the abuse really that bad?  and how many in the crowd were having a go - was it 1, 2, 10 or more?

QuoteLets keep this section of the board GAA, no bitching, or scandalising.  Ive fought this battle a long tiime now.

You are being very dogged about this.

I wouldn't expect to see a corner forward back helping his backline to be honest - that would get on my wick a lot more. But as far as forwards go, he's as hard working as they come. McDonnell makes countless runs and is always available for the ball - probably explaining why so much goes through him.  I've seen him had plenty of bad games but his selfless off the ball movement has created space and opportunities for others.

QuoteWe all love being critical. However, why did he go to the papers crying about it? Why is he even giving the critics airtime? You have to wonder what his state of mind is.  I thought the Louth comments were childish.

O'Neill - i think it's a case of too much football for him. He looked very narked and agitated the whole game on Sunday. I just think he needs a breather.

A serious amount of shit stirring on this thread. Slim, RRRHF etc are having some craic with this one.

McDonnell's probably the hardest working player on the Armagh team - always gives 100%. He was having a stinker of a game on Sunday though, nothing went right for him. From where i was, I never heard any personal abuse or abuse per se thrown at him.  I think he's overreacting a bit. Ideally i think he should be rested for a game or 2  to recharge the batteries -he has been a constant for Armagh in the mckenna cup, league and championship in recent years, while others around him have had time off. At the moment though Armagh can't afford to leave him out.

Good result for the Nab, considering the players suspended. How in hell did ST manage to get 4 players sent off?  Were they trying to get the game abandoned? Anybody here at the game?
