If I am totally honest (unlike Stallion) I do begrudge Sneil their success.......just a bit mind. Most clubs would be envious of the success of their neighbouring club.

But to cal their style dull and cynical is just untrue. Sammy, Poddy Cassidy, Shane McGuigan, Cormac Doherty are all exciting players to watch. The McKaigues, Rogers, McNeill, Feeney and the twin will all burst out from defence to join attacks.

Certainly they know how to close out a game, but don't forget that they work themselves into a postion where they are able to do just that. When they are in full flow they are good to watch. They can't control how the opposition chooses to set-up but have proven adept at counter-acting different approaches.

Pace, agression, control, accuracy, good game management -  I look for these attributes when I judge performances.

I suppose it depends what your looking for in a team.

What do you look for Stallion?

You know Stallion, you can get Kerry Golden Years on DVD now.  That old tape of yours is bound to be getting a bit fuzzy.

As far back as 1975 the loyalists were granted access to UDR barracks.  One such instance resulted in the disappearance of the entire arsenal in Magherafelt barracks.

Quite frankly I'm embarrassed for our club.

Considering what we have been excused this year, to turn around and petition for sanction against other players is hypocritical to say the least!!

I would very much doubt that you're a Glen man as your posts show you have serious issues with the club!

Also please get your facts right - Glen club have made no petition for sanction and have never been in contact with the the county board or CCC re. the Duffy incident. That's not to say any tears have been shed on his suspension.
Strange that, in your rush to cast aspersions about me, you chose not to challenge my first point.

Play the ball not the man (pun intended).

Back Home In Derry
Bobby Sands

In 1803 we sailed out to sea
Out from the sweet town of Derry
For Australia bound if we didn't all drown
And the marks of our fetters we carried.

In the rusty iron chains we sighed for our wains
As our good wives we left in sorrow.
As the mainsails unfurled our curses we hurled
On the English and thoughts of tomorrow.

Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.
Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.

I cursed them to hell as our bow fought the swell.
Our ship danced like a moth in the firelights.
White horses rode high as the devil passed by
Taking souls to Hades by twilight.

Five weeks out to sea we were now forty-three
Our comrades we buried each morning.
In our own slime we were lost in a time.
Endless night without dawning.

Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.
Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.

Van Dieman's land is a hell for a man
To live out his life in slavery.
When the climate is raw and the gun makes the law.
Neither wind nor rain cares for bravery.

Twenty years have gone by and I've ended me bond
And comrades' ghosts are behind me.
A rebel I came and I'll die the same.
On the cold winds of night you will find me

Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.
Oh Oh Oh Oh I wish I was back home in Derry.

The way I like to look at it, is that we currently have the former Commander of the Derry IRA running the show.

By the mid-Eighties the Derry IRA was thoroughly infiltrated and undermined by police and military intelligence.

What is the difference in the SDLP supporting whatever they did back in the day and Sinn Fein supporting big pay offs for the same RUC men. Werent those same RUC men re-employed recently by the PSNI.
Now we have the first minister campaigning for similar pay offs for prison officers, the same prison officers who locked the doors on a lot of shinners at night. Will Sinn Fein oppose these pay offs? Arent Sinn Fein always telling us that the office of the First and Deputy First Minister are one and the same?

Although it is nice to see Sinn Feins Raymond McCartney refering to "our prisons" in a recent interview. ;)

This thread has descended into a tit-for-tat argument between SF and SDLP apologists.

Unity has always been a key republican demand and the vols. at Loughall fought a war for independence, not political institutions and a process which fail to tackle the issue of Irish Sovereignty.

Neither the SDLP nor SF (is there any difference now) achieved anything in the way of progressing unification.
