Literally a fence between all 3
Was there at the weekend when 2 of them were at home and the ball kept coming on from the other pitch
Won't be any closer I'd imagine anywhere

Garycastle, Athlone, St Brigids, Clann na Gael around Athlone area in Westmeath/Roscommon.
Gracefield in Offaly side of Portarlington and Portarlington in laois side one springs to mind. Doubt much of a rivalry. Open to correction!

I thought this thread was all about 'closet' GAA clubs. Like a hush-hush GAA club set up in the KneeBreakers by Uncle Andy or something.

Think the closest on Tyrone's border is probably Collegeland to Moy but Id imagine some of them around Newry would be closest that I can think off

Aye, but sure they've had all year to get a GAA club started.

Lots of matches called off - wouldn't travel to the Shankill.

There's bound to be plenty up and down the country where a town is split by a river or whatever and is in two counties. Ballyleague/Lanesboro is essentially the same town split by the Shannon but it's called Ballyleague in Roscommon and Lanesboro in Longford, the two sides don't really mix and the rivalry is there alright, both sides considering the other weird. St Faithleachs the Gaelic club on the Ros side would have a definite superiority complex over their neighbours Rathcline over the bridge and the Larrys wouldn't be too fond of that.

On Athlone , there's actually a reasonable distance between the likes of Athlone GAA, Garrycastle, Clann and Brigids. Obviously the two town teams are closer like any urban sides would be but the two Ros teams have their own definite area and are both a nice ten minute spin out of town.

Or matches clashing with marching.

I wonder how they'd work the fleg and anthem situation.

Well, at least the Mater A&E would be handy for the Artane Boys Band.
