The fact that Roscommon and Kildare have absolutely nothing to play for shows the stupidity of these super 8s. Kerry will likely rack up a big score against Kildare which should get them into the semis.

Only for that late Clifford goal the last round of Super 8s games would have produced 3 dead rubbers.

So instead we only have two!!

Kildare will have absolutely no motivation to play this match, they are already out of the championship. Very unfair on counties to have to still play a match knowing it means nothing.

they've proved they can compete at the top level. Now they are well able to finish the job off in Salthill

They've proved that they can play well in Clones.

Why? Happens in the league and happens in other sports. Monaghan beat Dublin in Croke Park in the league this year when it didn't matter and I'd say every Monaghan person enjoyed it.

If Kildare can't look forward to knocking Kerry out of the championship in Killarney then that's their problem.

No matter how good the new structure is, there was always going to be a good old moan. The prospect of "dead rubbers" ensured that. Had it not been the dead rubbers it'd have been something else. Altogether now............MOAN!!!!!

you again with your regular bit of monaghan bashing.

They are a credit to their county. They proved last week they could win in Croke park but you know that didn't you. They've shown what can be done with limited resources and good structures. Couldn't see it through today but they have another chance. I really hope they take it because they fully deserve it.

Donaghy is an awful hoor for scoring vital goals

Didn't get one today
Did he not set it up?
What do you tink of dat, Joe Brolly ?

And he done very well but that isn't scoring
Says a lot that Kerry are relying on him.
He reminds me of El Cid at this stage

El Cid was a famous soldier in Spain and the Muslims were afraid of him. The legend is that after his death he was strapped onto a horse that went into battle and the sight of him on the horse freaked out the enemy who lost.

But they are not relying on him. It was the younger players who stood up today and breaking a high ball down doesn't change that. It wasn't even a good scoring chance but Clifford made something out of very little.

Kerry Kildare is a dead Rubber as much as Dublin Roscommon is! Explain the difference?

Jinxy

How is Kerry vs. Kildare a dead rubber?
Kerry lost to Galway and should have lost today.
If Kildare decide to go out in a blaze of glory they will give Kerry their fill of it.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Roscommon are out no matter the result. Dublin are top no matter the result. Total dead rubber
Kerry need to win to have a chance of making the semi's - that's not dead in my eyes

There you go From the Bunker, explained as well as it could be. If Kerry lose they are out and even a win won't guarantee them a semi final spot so even score difference is important.
