David Henry and probably Ciaran Whelan too should really be on that team. Canty and Murphy to lose out. Other than that the only other selection that catches my eye is Donaghy at FF. I actually voted for him myself and then I got to thinking, why did I do that? Lose him and put in an extra corner forward or wing forward. It's not like the positions mean anything now anyway. Alternative candidates include Alan Brogan, Donncha O'Connor, Brian Farrell and Nicky Joyce.

May i ask why  ???

You may.

Would Dessie Dolan not be a better option than Farrell?

Not based on this years performances. Farrell is an extremely reliable freetaker and always chips in from play as well. If he had started the Meath/Dublin replay we'd have won. Top scorer in the league too (all divisions).

If you go to the gameday live section on www.afl.com.au you can listen to the game and get all the stats etc. 3AW is the best station for the game.

I'd love to know how many extra units the Tribune are shifting now that Hayes has decided to become the Neil Francis of the GAA. He's not thick you know and neither are his employers.

QuoteArmagh are in transition and did not win a championship game this year, have been on the slide since 2003.

I know the above analysis may be harsh, but starting a discussion such as this to undermine Cork is in the same vain.

had Cork played Donegal and Derry early in the championship they might easily have been beaten by a point. Not sure that Cork are much ahead of number of teams. Had Armagh squeezed past Derry and been drawn against Meath they would have done as well as Cork.

Had Armagh hypothetically not lost every match they played and got to an All-Ireland semi-final they would have beaten Meath by 10 points? ??? What exactly are you basing that statement on?

Cork thumped Meath who drew with Dublin and caused them plenty of trouble the second day too. Cork were clearly the second best team in the country. The concession of 3 soft goals yesterday doesn't change that.

Cork were thumped by Kerry who only narrowly beat Dublin and Monaghan. Monaghan lost by 1 point to Kerry, yet were beaten in the Ulster final by Tyrone who were subsequently beaten by Meath who previously drew with Dublin! I guess what I'm trying to say is these formlines people are so fond of using are pretty meaningless. If you could pick any team you saw over the summer to go out next weekend and give Kerry a game, who would you give the best chance of success to? I'd have to say Dublin.

As impressed as I was by Kerry in a footballing sense today I have to say I was disgusted by their tactics in relation to officials in the first half.  The number of times 2 or 3 and sometimes more players at least surrounded an official was unreal.  To me it seemed like they were trying to intimidate the officials and whats worse it seemed to work.

Also can some one tell me when we changed the rules for striking to become a yellow card offence.

The minor game I though was excellent but a few things struck me about it.  Firstly Derry got a 21 free in the second half then the midfield turned round and appeared to scream at the man who fouled him.  Ref booked him for it and hopped the ball, first time i had seen that.  Also thinking about I reckon had the shot from the Galway number 5 not been incorrectly ruled wide then Derry would have won.  Galway wouldnt have been looking for goals and Derry might have been more attacking.  I suppose well never know but that Derry minor team have had no luck with disputed wides the year.

Thats an odd way of looking at it. Derry lost because Galway had a legitimate point waved wide? ???

An outstanding goal to win an All-Ireland by young Reddington. Fantastic skill and composure. I thought Galway were all over Derry in the 2nd half and just about deserved the win on the balance of play. Derry sat back and drew the Galway half backs and midfield up the pitch and having seen them beat Kerry, I knew that was the type of game Galway wanted to play. Very enjoyable fare I thought and both teams were a credit to their county. Congratulations to Galway and hard luck to the Derry men.
