Arsenal loss to Fulham early in the season, fannying around with Partey at right back and Gabriel dropped has come back to bite, the Villa result latterly obviously cost them but Villa were fantastic in the second half and fully deserved the win, Arsenal gassed that second half in the game between the Bayern tie, very fine margins in PL and CL, staying at that level and finding another 1-2% will be difficult, hinges on recruitment as ever

Come to think of it, did Lorcan Quinn ever get a minute for Tyrone while on the panel, and how long was he on the panel, anyone from Donaghmore able to confirm? Was definitely there in 2021 - did he seriously just train and sit on the bench for every game for 3 and a half years, while also being unable to play for club?

Quote from: square_ball on May 17, 2024, 09:51:31 AMFunny enough I did see Lorcan Quinn was playing a bit of soccer so was wondering whether that was with management blessing. Who is our back up keeper now?

Was extremely harsh this fella didn't even get a runout in the McKenna Cup or that dead rubber NFL game against Dublin at Croke, with that sort of treatment most people would be very reluctant to stay

Quote from: JPGJOHNNYG on May 15, 2024, 01:02:41 PMffs please not Southgate, he has wasted England best chance to win something over the last few tournaments. The English seem blinded to his incompetence. He speaks well to the media and is a likeable guy but is tactically brain dead

They lost a final on penalties and then lost to a team who missed out on retaining the WC on penalties. I don't think that's down to Southgate "wasting" anything.

Agree

Kane missed a gilt edged chance in WC SF v Croatia, beat on pens in Euro final, Kane missed pen v France in WC

Has to be Southgate now while he's hot surely, how many overlooked Van Dijk before he appeared to surprise many in becoming a stellar player, I see Southgate as the managerial equivalent

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on May 13, 2024, 11:03:27 AMFancy Tyrone to beat Donegal to top spot. Few weeks training will have them primed to turn over Donegal.

Will Throne give Donegal a guard of honour on to the field, and will Donegal return the faovour on the way off 😉

And would that make Tyrone lineal Ulster Champs?

Disagree tbh, Jarly Og probably hasn't kicked 10 shots with his feet his whole Armagh career, Soupys was the wrong side.

Deserved to lose having refused to win. Jarly get out and practice the shooting add a string to ye bow for next day

Quote from: Captain Obvious on May 13, 2024, 01:44:18 PMThe best teams on the field also happen to be the best ran off the field.

On another note it's gone unnoticed this weekend that with two games to play Liverpool can't finish in the top two this season and from this position when the title was theirs to lose.

Should probably do away with the footballers then and just make the ancillary staff play the games if the league table is based on off-field proficiency, would save an absolute bundle of cash too in the process.

Kath on reception is currently the 8th best receptionist in the league, by 6pm on Sunday she could be 6th best, its a fickle sport but I wish her well in her reception-based endeavors for the week ahead knowing that her contribution far outweighs anything Rashford has done this season

One step removed from Neville's 'best in class' trope

So to address that they've acquired a 71yo billionaire minority shareholder supporter and Jason Wilcox

The football world is trembling at the prospect!

And if all else fails blame the Glazers, who to date have 5 PL titles and a European Cup under their tenure

Any current successful team that doesn't have top quality football people behind the scenes?  The 5 PL titles and a European Cup was won with Ferguson still there and the structure of the club and how it was ran went with his retirement. The true worth of the Glazers has been seen since.
Is AF still not involved behind the scenes though. Constantly on the screen anytime Utd play. They made some big hullabaloo about a new role he was employed in a few years ago too if I remember. When Ronaldo returned, it was his doing according to some and the man himself. Big big say in managerial appointments we are told. So some of the worst decisions these Glazers have made and dropped the club in the shite, were they not just listening to great football men?

If Ferguson hadn't stuck his nose in horsey business Utd might have had better outcomes

I don't know any other industry where you would have people making decisions on acquisitions who aren't experts in that given field. So sneer at the football people comment all you want, its a basic short hand for people making decisions about which they have experience and expertise in. But I'm guessing you know that already.

It isn't about one man either, it is about getting a structure in place that can make strategic footballing decisions that are not manager dependent, to prevent the club ending up in the position they currently are with a mish mash of players from 5 different managers.

In a proper structure which INEOS are attempting to put in place, this wouldn't be allowed to happen.

You should of applied for the job by the sounds of it, they've just appointed a 71yo supporter after all, or would you be the technical expert, been tough up against Wilcox, apparently a dressing room jester in his time with not an ounce of sense, hope the due diligence is done on the latest raft of bluffers let through the door

Look on the bright side, a year or 2 at Wembley while the stadium is being redeveloped will make it easier for supporters to get to games

But it reeks of owners who've bled the club dry and not one bean of their money will ever be spent on Manchester United.

How can you say that, just the £2.1bn in player acquisitions since they bought the club

Incredible actor, House of Cards was one hell of a show before he was dropped, if you've seen his follow on Christmas social media postings in the style of Frank Underwood he sure comes across as one weird fish. Seems more than likely a few skeletons in the closet. The Epstein / Prince Andrew thing was the tip of the iceberg in terms of trafficking, pimps, assault and rape in that upper echelon I would imagine. How that rancid f**k Andrew has gotten off highlights the stitch up every bit as much as the ongoing genocide in Gaza, 2 cheeks of the same arse as they say
