If it's a Corofin Moorefield semi final it'll probably be Tullamore you'd think, roughly half way between both counties.

That's a very odd outlook to take. Cavanagh was trying to talk to the linesman yet Marc O'Se kept trying to physically provoke Cavanagh into reacting to him.
Proof positive of the prepared narrative when there are certain individuals involved.

No prepared narrative st all. It is not his job to pressure a linesman into anything. He is there to play football. It annoys the head if me when players or management do that. It shows a lack of respect to other players and officials.
For the record I don't care who the player is. I help out with an underage team and players are told if they talk back to a referee or another player they will be taken off.
As a side note I am pleased to Moy won as I have a relative on the team.

I think players are allowed talk to match officials. Cavanagh was in no way aggressive approaching the referee. Marc O'Se had no business physically intervening.
Well done Mícheál Mac Laithimh.

I think it's a disservice to tar all Tyrone teams with the same brush. We, Pomeroy Plunketts were beaten by a last minute point from St. Colmilles of Meath in the intermediate club all ireland semi final last year. The final score was 3-11 to 2-13 and anybody that attended the game will tell you both teams played all out attacking football. In fact we ended up being pipped in the Tyrone senior semi final this year playing the same brand of attacking football. So to say we all play the defensive football we seen today is simply not true.
Thing is when Moy played the right way for the last 10 mins or so and pushed up and went man to man, it was why they won. Brutal tactics before that.
when Gaeltacht went to 14!! they sat back in that defensive zonal watever that's about rather than push up and go man for man...
We'll agree to disagree. I thought they were holding back ovrr defensive till it dawned on them that Gaeltacht have 14 men and we're a point down we better go and seize this... and pushed up and got offensive.

Blatantly obvious O'Se tried to provoke and get Cavanagh sent off. Is talking to the linesman in an attempt to get a man the line any worse than physically provoking someone so they'll react and get the line?
Also hilarious to see O'Se completely shit a brick when Cavanagh finally does react.

Glad to see Moy progress to the final on behalf of the county.
However being a Tyrone man I have to say the way Cavanagh went crying to the linesman was a bit much for my liking. That has been the reason Moy have not been the most liked club within Tyrone at times.
Granted their Tyrone players did come in for abuse in the club game (like others) but the constant crying to refs from the Cavanaghs has ryled many a team in Tyrone.
I don't think O'Se was trying to get him sent off and if I seen what Cavanagh was at I would expect one of my own to react the same way. Let the officials do their job.
And to add the insult Cavanaghs patronising interview afterwards is pure puke - I'd say the O'Ses would give you a fairer view off the incident and prob say he can piss off instead of all the cliches!

Is it in poor taste to try and stop having one of your players sent off for a sending off offence?
Jaysus - not really following you now.
I Just didn't like how it looked and i'm not looking at it with any type of Tyrone glasses on. Sometimes calling out some of you own can be difficult.
I just think that I would prefer the reputation associated with Marc O'Se than with Sean Cavanagh. Both top quality footballers - some of the best we've ever seen. One cries to refs and does loads of cliched interviews and the other doesn't.
My two cents!

You know why those reputations exist? One team are media darlings, the other are media pariahs. The actions really don't seem to matter as the narrative is predetermined.

That was all had to be said. The Roscommon player kicked, he had to go, he will maybe learn not to do that again. Tough lesson but don't see the rush to criticise. The game should have been out of sight at half time.

I'm entitled to voice my opinion - two matches in a row he has been directly involved in influencing decisions to get a player sent off. Thats the facts.
Didn't see the matches; did the 2 players deserve to be sent off?

Yes both struck out, the one in the final was more obvious because it was during play, the semifinal was off the ball.

OK, in two matches opponents struck out. Why wouldn't he point it out to the refs? I just don't get your point. If a player patted him on the head and he went down to fake a hit, that's beyond the pale, but pointing out went someone has struck out is ok.
Are you saying that digging off the ball is ok and has to be tolerated if the ref didn't see it?
Not saying it should be tolerated - the ref has plenty of eyes and ears at these high profile matches and should be able to catch most things. Some may be missed and thats unfortunate but I do think that Sean Cavanagh has always been a whinge to officials and it doesn't look good - there are plenty of top class footballers like him that don't get involved like this.
All my point was is I know he's doing nothing wrong but I prefer someone like Marc O'Se who goes about his business the way he does as opposed to Cavanagh!
As bad as he is he's not even close to cillian o'connor in this regard though!
Sean Cavanagh is taking up refereeing full-time now, nobody more experienced....and created the black card sure

It was passed 4 months before the infamous rubby tackle but the Urban myth persists that that tackle caused the GAA to introduce the black card.

Them 2 boys would of clipped you back if you punched or kicked them, something you cant do in todays game. were not living in the 80s any more. If Sean ever reacts to that he will end up watching from the line as well. If there has been an infringement of course your going to try and gain a competitive advantage. Its the indiscipline of the opponent that causes the reaction and that's where the problem lies.
Sean Cavanagh is getting a lot of unwarranted criticism on here. If someone strikes one of your players in an All Ireland Club Semi Final or Final and you don't try to bring it to the referee's attention, you are an idiot.

Ref probably thought it was a knee to a head but never a red card.
No way a red card. This referee was out of depth in Mayo/Kerry game and no better today.
Moorefield full-back did a Rivaldo there. Pretended he got kneed in the head. Farragher actually tried to avoid him.
Not even close to a red card. Surely the ref should give the benefit of the doubt in the first minute of the game.
What a tr**p number 3 is!!! That will surely be overturned should Corofin win.
Defences on top so far in a slow paced game.
If right was right the full back should be banned for the final if they get through, as cowardly and deceptive an act as you'd see on a pitch.
For a man up Moorefield are pants!
Jaysus Lundy blew that. Had a man steaming in on goal if he passed.
I'm wondering if it was the linesman that got him sent off, the ref didn't look like he was taking any action at first.
Moorfields first point looked wide too.
Very greedy from Lundy
A goal would have been crucial in a game like this. Greedy from Lundy
No life to this game at all, it can only get better in the 2nd half?

Would Galway posters be that disappointed if Corofin are beaten today? I think that Molloy lad at wing back could start for ye're seniors this year but if he misses the rest of the league he probably won't.

The lack of game time in the league might cost him a place come championship alright.
Corofin upping the tempo of their game now.
Who had the extra man here? Another semi final were the manager hasn't a clue where to play extra man!
Kieran Fitzgerald having the game of his life.
Wing-backs very effective too.
Moorefield thoroughly useless, poxed to get out of Leinster.
Referee must be praying Corofin win this.
Lundy has got in some great positions but has taken the wrong option each time.
2nd half better viewing anyway
Any idea in what caused such a terrible 1st half? Conditions don't appear to be too bad, though the pitch looks a little heavy. Must be a bit of nerves for both teams
Can't miss that free Sice. That was a tap over.
That could be it now
Well worked goal.
Would have been a one sided final had Moorefield went throug
Cool finish by a defender can see why he's a starter for Galway seniors.
If Silke and Molloy head off now they might make the 2nd half of the Sigerson
And that'll be that. Could see it coming a mile out.
The Moorefield FF line has been dreadful.
Moorefield as poor an outfit as I've seen at this level for some time!
0-7 was enough to win that game.
Kieran Fitz is a great bit of stuff. Hard to credit he won an All-Ireland with Galway all of 17 years ago. Still going.
Delighted Corofin won especially after that scandalous sending off. The Moorefield full back, Liam Healy, is a disgrace for doing that. Also, that referee needs to be stood down for making such a crazy decision in such a major game. Clearly Farragher should be cleared to play on the final.
Nice to see a corner back scoring the decisive score of the game.
It would have been an absolute travesty if Moorefield had of won that, Corofin as expected operate a couple of levels above them and if it wasn't for the sending off would have been more comfortable. That being said Moorefield for once malfunctioned up front which was in start contrast to the Kildare county final when they played with 13 men and took pretty much every chance they had and in the semi where they blitzed a fancied more talented Athy team. Corofin were extremely physical didn't give them anything easy though which is the difference I suppose.
I can't see them defending the Kildare championship this year either.

If Silke and Molloy head off now they might make the 2nd half of the Sigerson
Left at the final whistle, Molloy came on for NUIG on 39 mins, Liam Silke injured his hand so didn't play any part. One of the worst Corofin displays I've seen in a while but the fact they had to play the whole game with 14 men contributed to that, being a man down they couldn't play their usual fast paced kicking game. Kieran Fitz and Ronan Steede 2 of their best today.

We say that every year about Moorefield but yet they keep coming back. The scandalous change to the championship structure will suit them as well. I don't think the extra games will suit them at all. The likes of Celbridge, JTB and Athy might benefit as it will allow the county players to gel a bit better while Sarsfields will probably be a lot hungrier this year and there is little between them and Moorefield. Naas should be there abouts too while Clane and Carbury have good young players coming through so the championship is more competitive than 90% of other counties. I'd rather have a competitive championship over having one dominant club.
Agreed on Liam Healy but it happens in almost every game that players go down holding there face without contact being made, a Corofin player did the same a few minutes after. Retrospective bans for doing it in televised games is the way to go.

They used to rotate it then stopped and had the football on last. personally I much prefer the hurling last (providing its a tight match) and as you have said, it should be a lot closer this year..
It'll be the first time since 2007, when Ballyhale Shamrocks beat Loughrea, that the hurling final will be played second.

And from memory it'd be at least a decade before that when the hurling was on second. Certainly from 98 onwards it's usually been hurling then football.
Must be that they're expecting the bigger crowd numbers for the hurling.
The Dubs always head in late so having the hurling on second they should manage the second half of the hurling final :P

Fine goal by Gary Sice
Some great football being played. No blankets in sight today yet anyway. Some of Corofin's foot passing is top class. Nemo started slowly in the semi-final though before coming on strong.
Corofin in total control 1-5 to 0-1 and probably should be more ahead.
2-6 to 0-2 now! Very impressive by Corofin but Nemo are so flat, look like a side that emptied their tank in the semi final.

0-10 to 0-5 that 2nd half. Congrats to Corofin. One of the most one sided football club finals ever. Right decision to play the football final first hopefully the hurling final is a more competitive game.
As one-sided as expected. Slaughtneil might have at least given Corofin a game.
Well done Corofin.

Congrats Corofin. Showed their class again today.
Croke Park really suits their style of play.
Some of the interplay in the first half was exceptional.
Well done to Corofin. They have a Crossmaglen style stranglehold on the Galway county championship which isn't great but hard to begrudge them when they play such brilliant football. Especially suited to a big pitch and good surface like at Croke Park.

Minor and U21 Connacht champions 2017. Best senior club side in Ireland in Corofin,Galway senior footballers into the Div one final and the current minor and senior All Ireland hurling champions.
I'd seen enough of Corofin to know they were likely to win this one with something to spare. Nemo were the greenhorns in this equation. If they ever get back to the AI final they'll be better for this experience.
50 mins gone still all to play for. Na Piarsaigh 1-13 Cuala 0-15
Cuala goal in the 4th minute of injury time FT Na Piarsaigh 1-16 Cuala 1-16.
Some dispaly by corofin , magnificent to watch.
HT AET still all to play for. FT Na Piarsaigh 2-18 Cuala 1-20.
FT AET Na Piarsaigh 2-19 Cuala 1-22. Fair play to both sides
Last 20 min and ET of the hurling was very good. Ref let a lot go
Ref left the whistle in his pocket to a ridiculous extent in ET.
Corofin brought a level of performance that was hard to believe, I don't think there's a club team in the country that would live with them in that form, Nemo were just the unfortunate opposition today.
How many corofin players will be added to Galway panel now?
People think its codology but there is no way that galway are not gearing up to challenge soon.
Anyone know the attendance from today?

Was announced at something in the 15,000's. I go almost every year and I don't remember witnessing a smaller crowd than today. A mixture of having 3 city teams, a huge rugby game, and freezing weather.

Yeah a few of us usually go down every year from Antrim but didn't fancy getting my balls froze off

6 or 7 I reckon but only 2 or 3 might make the team. Hard to say just yet though.
Kinda gone under the radar but it shouldn't be overlooked that Daithi Burke won an All-Ireland hurling final and was the All-Star hurling full-back last September and kicked 0-2 in an All-Ireland club football final yesterday.
In the dying days of the dual player at that level that will be extemely rare going forward.

Power and Ian Burke anyway.
Possibly Mike Farragher, Dylan Wall & Kieran Molloy.
I heard from a fairly reliable source that Liam Silke is going to America for the summer.
Big loss as he's an excellent player
Well done to Corofin, a great performance from a mighty club.

Cheers. Very poor crowd alright, ~half of what it would usually be I think. Would possibly have gone myself yesterday but didn't fancy getting frozen

Same here. Was also able to sit at home with the club finals on the telly and the rugby on the laptop

Probably will make the squad alright. Forgot about him. He won't be a starter anyway.
Steede might make the squad as cover for midfield possibly too.
All over for this spring, congrats to all.
