General discussion / Re: Decent house music sets

Best set I've ever heard live James Zabelia in the Nerve Center, Derry in the mid 2000's. Other noteworthy mentions to global gathering in Millstreet and mullingar. Would have loved to have done a loveparade before they finished.

GAA Discussion / Re: Concussion in the GAA

Never said it was the same game.  I suppose what i'm asking is are we in the GAA as stupid when it comes to this sort of thing as rugby ie do players get taken off etc when this this injury happens.  With players now and their developing strength standards I believe we should be aware of this issue.  Just speaking from experience I remember getting knocked out not so long ago (couple of years) to be told your grand, play on.  I'll never forget the headaches and puking after the game.  Horrible experience.

GAA Discussion / Concussion in the GAA

Was watching the documentary on RTE 1 about rugby and concussions and it got me thinking about our own game.  The very nature of our game would suggest that concussions are not as regular as in rugby but they still happen from time to time.  Have any posters had much experience of this area in both playing and coaching roles?

Mayo / Re: Mayo Football and Hurling - Discussion pages

Had many a battle with Michael Solan on the pitch around East Mayo.  He was a real leader on the pitch and always gave it 100%.  I think he managed the Ballagh seniors the last time they won the senior championship but im open to correction on that.

I might have been seeing things but did Paddy Barnes say to someone when Danny Boy started 'Thats not my anthem'? Good luck to Michael Conlon, the cut could become a problem in this one.

1.  Has to be 100% committed to the cause.
2.  Has to be able to get inside players heads.
3.  Good man management.
4.  Know how to maximise performance out of players. This would include tatics, individual and   team improvement at the basic skills of game, fitness etc.

Heard from a good source from with in the camp what happened with this.  The manager was underminded when it came to training, tatics, game plans etc.  I believe the level of abuse was just despicable at times especially at training.  I think it says it all when you look at the number of managers the Mayo ladies have had in the last 5 years...... Think its up on 6 at this stage.  Am working with one of those managers at the minute, and he told me that he would never go back to it as the senior panel are just impossible to work with.
Very unfortunate as the ladies team in Mayo have given us some reasons to cheer in the past.

On another matter, does anybody know when tickets are being distributed by the clubs in Mayo for the Sligo game?  (Mayo by 3 after a close contest) ;D

At what age did you go to your first GAA match ? Would have been 7/8.
Who played in the match? First I remember is Mayo vs Cork pitch opening Foxford '89.
Do you remember anything about it ? Mayo Won (I think) & The aul fella doin the line at it.
Who were the main figures involved in introducing you to the GAA ? Aul Fella.
What was your first match in Croke Park ?  92/93?? Nemo rangers vs Eire Og AI club final.
Who were the first GAA players you were aware of ? Liam McHale/Tj Kilgallon
Is anyone else in your family as interested in GAA as you are ? All of them.
Did your indoctrination involve any bad-mouthing of soccer  or was it more ecumenical ? Gaa was all we played and did in Mayo.

Ref at Sligo vs Louth game was a complete joke imo.  On technical fouls he was crap (pulled for some things and not for others). This applies to both teams.  However an even bigger issue i have is his pulling for fouls that wernt even that physical.  That Kelly lad sligo have up front is some class act. Lightening quick.
