Good piece.  Kavanaugh isn't on trial, he's applying for a job.  Presumption of innocence applies to trials, not job applications.

My worry about that is God help the next Democratic nominee.

It is now open season if no due process is applied to claims of a serious nature.

Wait to the last minute, and bring out dramatic claims

The only issue is whether allegations are credible.

The allegations against Kavanaugh are.

Not content with coming across like somebody off their head on crystal meth pretending to be Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Lindsey Graham has threatened that any future nomineees by Democrats will be hit with made up allegations as revenge.

In any normal country, this would be the end of Graham's political career and deservedly so. In the US, he's being celebrated for it. The US is a country that has lost its mind.

There is no possible defence of the Republicans. This is a party that has well and truly nosedived into the realms of fascism.

As a thought experiment it's tragically fascinating and proves that what happened in 1930s Germany can happen anywhere.

Credible according to who?

Her best friend who supposedly was there said it never happened and she didn't even know Kavanaugh
She also said she believed her.
Blasey Ford was 15. She was pushed into a room. 2 others were involved. Nobody heard a scream cos Kav had his hand over her mouth. She didn't tell anyone . A lot of abuse victims don't.

So let me get this straight... if there was an investigation it would delay the process to after the midterms which would mean that the Republicans would loose their majority and the Dems wouldnt vote him in? So the Reps obiviously dont want that?

But the investigation would likely find the same as we saw yesterday... a he said/she said scenario, and the nomination would have proceeded, which is why the Dems held back off this until this point.

Unfortunately everyone loses out of this:
Reps look their forcing thru a person of possible dubious character
Dems look like they have been playing for time
Cavanagh has his personal reputation in tatters
Dr Ford has her personal life and history thrust into public domain and is abused and threatened

Why don't you answer yourself?

Do you believe Christine Blasey Ford's allegations are credible?

The republicans have to vote him in simple as .
There's collateral damage in politics which miss ford is finding out if Brett is voted in I'm sure Diane and Avenatti and co will be calling by her home to comfort her and see how she's doing .

In that case, god help any man going for a senior ranking job from now on.

what is it that you think Avenatti has to do with Blasey Ford?
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Collateral damage might arrive for the GOP at the midterms. Not all voters are equipped with a penis

55% of white women voted Republican in 2016. Against a female Democrat.

Norman Ornstein

Enabling Trump to misuse his pardon power to obstruct justice. This is why Trump picked Kavanaugh. We slide further toward autocracy. Enabled by Flake, Corker, Graham and others. A black mark on our history.

If confirmed, Kavanaugh—who was speaking primarily to an audience of one yesterday—will be on the bench when the Supreme Court hears this landmark case that could strengthen Trump's pardon power.

Looks like it's not that simple by half.

Jeff Flake, the snowflakes at Yale Law School and the American Bar Association have asked for further investigations.

Have Budweiser? That would really crush Kavanaugh
