Obviously, im gutted that Tyrone were well beaten today, however, I still enjoyed watching the skill and accuracy of the dubs - they made it look so easy. I stayed to the very end to applaud the Dublin team on their outstanding performance and victory but also to applaud the Tyrone team that have gave us so much in this last decade.

I could go on about Mickey Hartes decisions today, but its pointless and unfair. I only have to look at what he has achieved for Tyrone, through the years of nuturing those players and the successes they brought. Its an end of era for alot of players on the team and hope that they dont get too annoyed at their performance today as they wont be judged on that, but will only be judged on the years of great performances and achievements, the youth they have inspired throughout the country and the excitement and joy they have brought to their fans.

They may have lost today, but overall their County endeavours were a total success.

2 friends of mine were just offered tickets from a donegal supporter, just down a bit from Quinns bar - He was looking 150 euro each. While I was chewin the head of him for trying to riip my friend off, 2 Dublin supporters walked by and handed my friend 2 tickets and "enjoy the game lads". We tried to give him money for them, but he wouldnt accept.

Great banter in the bar from the dub supporters too. 100% Respect!

Midman> While they were talking about mickey harte on the radio, they then played "Pretty little girl from omagh". Obviously the worst choice of song due to the rough tie they are going through following the loss of their daughter.

In my opinion, I sincerely doubt that the RTE presenter meant it the way it came across. Id say he's kicking himself now and wishes he hadnt have done it, but i think he was a tad niave and just played one of the most known County Tyrone songs. I can understand how it hurt Mickey Harte and family, but I also feel sorry for the guy that played it - a moment he probably will always regret and never forget. Just very bad timing.

Hopefully they will sort it all out as im sure they will when the dust settles.

GAA Discussion / Armagh, still in with a chance?
August 06, 2011, 10:46:23 AM
Shocked or confused? so you should be, but it's true! Despite the all time lull in Apple growth in Armagh this year, the Armagh "Pink Lady" apple is tipped to win this years Applefest, held in the ulster hall Belfast, end of aug 2011.

good luck Armagh. lol

This letter was rather unwise and 1950ish. But that is no justification for some of the off the wall comment here.

The GAA is part of the community and should try and avoid clashes with other local events, as far as practicable. Some parents may have preferred not to be put in an either/or situation, perhaps for the sake of a 30min change.

Bit of a storm in a teacup, I suggest.

I agree with you Armaghniac, an unwise and poorly timed letter from the Cardinal but the tenor of some of the comments on this thread are beyond the pale and not of the calibre that have been the norm on this Board over the years.

I can understand that some of the comments might have alarmed you and I agree its not the type of thing you would want to see on this forum, however, the topic was posted and there alot of members of the community who have been badly affected by the actions of cardinal brady and his cover up. I didnt really want to go into this but i feel i have to, in order to justify my previous comments in the thread - If Cardinal Brady had have done the decent thing back then, then 2 family members of my own would be alive today. One family member was raped and molested and affected him so badly through the years, he took his own life. My second family member could not live with this pain and took the same route.  Not one member of the Catholic Church has shown their face or even apologised. Trust me, your blood would boil, like mine is when i read of brady coming out with this rubbish.

He protected a rapist, a child molester and knew he would continue to do so and what did he do? He hid the fact. In my opinion, he has blood on his hands. Anyway, the GAA should not get involved with the Catholic Church and vice versa. Its a sport, and has got damn all to do with Religion. He should have stood down when he was found out and it angers me that the GAA even let this pedo protector onto the grounds.

I wont say anymore on this as my comments may get out of hand, plus its really stressing me out. Cardinal Brady: you're not a christian and your kind wont dictate nor abuse the good people of ireland again.

Statements like this really anger me!

Who the hell does Brady think he is? church trying to dictate our lives. fact is that Brady took part in the protection of a pedo priest for many years and let him loose to destroy other peoples lives. Any balloon would know that was wrong, even back then. as u can tell, I don't have any respect for the man and this latest statement just furthers that.

Someone needs to tell  Brady that less people attend mass because less people fall for the fear driven sh1te that they have spun for years and for the abuse and torture they have brought to many catholic homes. So mr Sean Brady, away and go ...

GAA Discussion / Re: Goal of the year (so far)!!!

without a doubt, Darren o'sullivans goal. Wouldn't like to see copycat manoeuvres, however, Darren knew exactly what he was doing, pure skill and a pleasure to watch.

I certainly wouldn't be playing tommy mcguigan. Despite the score stats, tommy has been been very poor. He hasn't been playin club football either, and is not long back out of injury. I guess I've never rated tommy as a county player. Mugsy, in my opinion, should be on starting 15 and tommy on the bench, the park bench outside croker! He's lost a lot of pace, although a good reader of the game, he lacks the skill that needs to compliment his other positive qualities.

Would hope to see Sean move into full forward, with Cassidy taking over midfield.

Anyway, I don't think we are good enough to beat the dubs, just my opinion.

GAA Discussion / Re: Donegal's year perhaps?
August 01, 2011, 09:44:36 PM
been a great year for Donegal in all fairness both in the league and championship. However, I really can't see them getting into the finals never mind lifting Sam.

I can't see ourselves, Tyrone, getting to the final either. Think Dublin will win but hope I'm wrong. To be honest, if we do beat the dubs, I'd be confident that we would beat Donegal in a very one sided game. And if we meet Kerry in the final, I'd have to go with Kerry.

my prediction is a Kerry v Dublin final. My predictions so far in the championship have been spot on, apart from Mayo v cork game. hope I'm wrong on this one too!

Isnt it amazing how 2 poor sides, going on today's display, could create such an exciting game. Very little skill from both teams, more a game of stamina and guts.

I'd be very confident that Tyrone will hammer donegal should we beat the dubs!

Were you one of the boys singing "easy, easy" after 20 minutes the last day we played you?  :D

I knew that was coming lol We had serious problems with accuracy that day. Should have been a cricket score result but hey Donegal won fair and square. let's hope we meet in the semis, to settle the score! My gf is from Donegal so I kinda had to show my support to Donegal today :)

What a nail biting finish to the game. Well done to Donegal, although a draw would have been a much fairer result. Should have been a free in for Kildare before donegals final attack, plus the disallowed goal was not right. Saying that, kildares overly obvious cynical fouling was annoying to watch, but the last 2 great Donegal scores were the best iv seen under such huge pressure.

Overall, didn't think much of either team, can't see Donegal progressing any further. Would like to meet them in the semi final if we can beat Dublin, which I doubt, although I think we, Tyrone, will book our place in the final if we overcome the dubs.

Good to see mugsy coming on, don't agree with taking coney off though.
