Should Horan have made a couple of changes earlier in the game larryin? The subs all seemed to have made an impact when they came on.

He can't keep picking some of those lads that started. Can he?
I think he is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea here. On the one hand, he had a lot of what would be first choice players who are out through injury or at least not match fit. If he starts panicking and throwing some of them on he is risking further injuries to his better players and enforced absences during the championships coming up soon. It's Hobson's choice I'm afraid.
On the other hand, some of the newer players are showing potential and sooner or later, he will have to let a raft of the old guard go. Unless he bloods replacements in, he will be in even more trouble than he is right now.
I thought a few likely lads showed up last year and this year to date has been even more promising. We have always had problems getting youngsters to mature enough to play at championship level but the last few years, and this one especially, there has been quite a few.
Ossian Mullin looks the real deal already and Tommy Conroy, Towey, O'Donoughe and a few others are developing nicely. Throw in Matty Ruane and probably Fionn McDonagh from last year and things are looking good for the future.
Maybe not too good at present but dammit!, Tiocfaidh ar lá arís very soon. ;D

The names you mention as positive I will give you yeah. In fact I think I mentioned them in an earlier post and would raise you Swanee O Hora as well. They are fairly obvious as well. On the other hand there are lads wheeled out every week that are as obviously not at it at all. These are JH's projects so if he is caught between devil and deep blue sea ....... If you look back at recent panels, there were young lads that were indulged for years that never were good enough.
I reckon Mullin will he gone to Australia at the end of championship.
do you know this or are you just guessing?
Horan has done in this league what Rochford
shoul have started 3 years agohould have started 3 years ago bringing  genuine change to the team and people have to keep the faith and trust Horan  . no one is going to remember relegation if may win the All Ireland and there is the nucleus of a very good new team there  and the young lads are getting bett with every Game, new leaders are emerging without the older hands on board .In Particular Coen and Diarmauid along with Aidan are now running the show even with Coen playing out of position he has come on in leaps in bounds this year.
at time the team is not gelling  and our kick outs are killing us but Is slowly coming together and I think we will see more of these lads in the summer than  you think
Holy Christ were you at any of the games, total bull.

How many chances are some of these Mayo players going to get?  3 of those forwards that started and were substituted during the course of the game today have been given 3 or 4 games each to prove themselves over the course of this league.  Bar a 3 minute cameo by one of them at the end of the Donegal game, all 3 have been poor.  They aren't even close to the standard unfortunately.  Not sure what Horan is looking at, if he's looking at anything at all.  I fully expect him to play all 3 again in Galway and again all 3 will be substituted.
Well at least they got substituted, there's one lad never gets substituted and he's clearly not intercounty standard.

Obviously they're biased, but the commentators on MidWest stated that Galway were starting aggro all over the pitch just before the throw in. Can anyone who was actually there confirm or deny this

Sure they also said McQuillan was giving all the decisions to Galway.  ;D

All the Mayo fans around me though he was riding us as well. Galway folk though he was doing them!
Now Cormac Reilly really did do us in 2014 in Limerick. No debate there.
Walsh on about agendas driven from the top, pathetic.

If we've only Conroy - who hasn't played any inter county in a year - fit for MF we are bunched.
I assume the other 5 are Duggan, Flynn, Ó Curraoin, Cooke and D'Arcy (who you couldn't be reliant on anyway)?
Would Walsh not come out around the middle then?

I'd worry if we go with the same FB line again.
Can't understand how Stephen Coen gets so many starts with Mayo, just don't see what he offers.
Barrett has been poor too, he's constantly going in with the arm over in the tackle giving away soft frees.
I have to laugh at the constant negativity of some mayo fans .
mayo are  in a league final for feck sake playing really good football. :Loads of new player have been bled, some older players have come back into the reckoning .
Aidan O se has been on top of his game and that means there few better players in the country. there have been very few injuries  plus we don't have to play dublin in the final
thing could hardly be better ,
You're easily amused then and obviously just a cheerleader.
Hope you've your poms poms ready for Sunday.

Horan doing videos talking about Adventures, Quests and Odysseys. "Brand Mayo". Some amount of cringe. It's not the presidency he's taking over

He seems to have you rattled anyway  ;D ;D

My eyes rattled from cringing?

"Brand Mayo". He's the manager of an average rural county's amateur football team, not the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Quests and Odysseys is even stranger again. Perhaps he's a World of Warcraft fan
who are hugely popular and successful in fundraising allowing them to compete at the top level of football for the last decade from our impoverished county rather than whinge about dublin.
Welcome to footballs real world

Should he not be trying to extract less money from people in one of the countries more impoverished counties rather than more? Brand Mayo, sounds like a racket to take yet more from loyal fans. I do agree that Mayo's fundraising from far afield has been phenomenal from a county that wouldn't exactly be known for big businessmen abroad.
Did you actually listen to the interview? He was playing that stuff down, saying it was mythology.

I know. I got the door after a few negative comments a few years back. Thank God this is a more open forum where pessimism is actually allowed or I'd be banished forever.
Did you get the routine lecture from yer man banishing you from his noble site for not meeting his high standards, bet you criticized Ger Caff.
Well, I had a run in with him once and I wound up telling him that he could supposit his site for all I cared. ;D
He seems to have mellowed a bit but back when he was getting his site off the ground, he had an ego the size of Croke Park.
Just by chance, I decided to have a look at his site shortly after he put it up. I hadn't been there before so I was curious to find out what the blog was all about.
I got one helluva surprise to find that the centrepiece was devoted to gaaboard.com and the activites of some of the Mayo posters who had the temerity to criticise what he had said about some county player or other.
He let the world know that he was on holidays just then but when he returned he was going to sort the whole effin' lot of us out. (I am being serious, btw.)
We were all sculking behind usernames on an obscure internet formum but, if any of us were brave enough, we should post to his site and debate the issue face to him. I just couldn't resist the temptation to wind him up a bit further and I had no problem at all in doing that.
I wound up telling him where he could shove his site and his ego also.
I'm afraid he pulled my last post.
Since then, he seems to hace copped on a lot and I think he is quite a good analyst and, if you ignore the loolas who add their comments, I'd have little to complain about. The Results Archive in particular is an invaluable reference source and, all in all, I'd recommend his iste to any genuine Mayo fan.

I think his ego has got to an all time high ever since he became the Mayo supporters voice on the Mayo News podcasts. The best part of his blog is his result archive a lot of work he put into that in fairness to him.
Yeah I think he's got worse and Rob Murphy's his lapdog now.
It's the pontificating I can't stand, the attitude to the resignation rumour where no-one can comment till it comes via the fourth estate, such bull.

Savage player the sort of fella any team would want to see thundering out of their dressing room. He had unreal vision too, could pick out a player in half a second. Can still remember him getting ready to come on in 2014 and knowing he was going to be trouble. Couple Mayo supporters behind me saying he was finished, gobshites, he sickened our holes that day and the next day for sure da bollix. Almost did enough in the first match last year to see us off too.

Looks like Rochford's going to stay anyway.

Fair play to Cian O'Neill. The people of Kildare are fully behind them.
How many of ye went to Longford?

Plenty. Should be more in Newbridge on Saturday night!
I think we'll outnumber ye in Croke Park so.

https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/gaa-insists-kildare-will-forfeit-mayo-qualifier-if-they-don-t-play-at-croke-park-1.3543393
The GAA will not be budging on their decision to fix Saturday's round three All-Ireland football qualifier between Kildare and Mayo for Croke Park - despite the clear threat from Kildare that they will not be showing up.

Kildare were entitled to home advantage, having been drawn first from the bowl earlier on Monday morning, but a meeting of the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) later decided that the capacity at St Conleth's Park in Newbridge was not suitable for "health and safety" reasons.

Kildare officials had already aired their discontent and have now indicated they are not willing to play the game anywhere other than at home in Newbridge.

"We are making it clear that we will not play this game in Croke Park," said a Kildare statement. "St Conleth's Park is perfectly capable of hosting the tie on an all-ticket basis, Newbridge is perfectly capable of dealing with the number of supporters that will attend."

However the GAA are no longer open to discussion on the matter, and the game will be played in Croke Park as double-header with the meeting of Cavan and Tyrone.

"The game has been fixed for 7pm in Croke Park, and that is not going to change under any circumstances", Feargal McGill, the GAA's director of games administration, told The Irish Times.

"We fully appreciate where Kildare are coming from. We don't take home venue off of a team lightly. However, health and safety has to come first. It's that simple. The last thing we wanted to do was take this out of Newbridge, but we simply had no choice. There is no room for manoeuvre, not when it comes to health and safety. If Kildare don't show up in Croke Park on Saturday at 7.0pm the game will be awarded to Mayo."
When all other excuses dry up..

The ball is in Mayo's court now to do the sporting thing and make it known they want it played in Newbridge too.
Is it f**k this is between Kildare and GAA HQ.
