Quote from: BrendanAntrim on Today at 02:15:46 PMThe draw for Tailteann Cup is on this afternoon, we are second seeds.

From the first seeded teams I hope we don't get Down again, be even happier with Kildare, especially if we play them in Corrigan. Fermanagh would be a good Seed 1 team to get too.

All of which means we will probably get Down!

The only one you didn't mention....Sligo!

Plus Wexford and Tipp.

I heard that it is a cruciate ligament injury. If that's true he's gone for the season.

Quote from: square_ball on April 28, 2024, 08:51:06 PMLack of any sort of strength in depth killed us today. One enforced sub and another in the 63rd minute in normal time tells the tale.

Can't fault the effort and performance and probably should have seen it out in normal time. Once it went to extra time we were always going to struggle particularly with the lack of changes made.

Hopefully Meyler and Harte will be back for the group stage. I'd be expecting QF minimum and then after that who knows.

Our refusal by the management to use our bench killed us today. Yes, they may lack experience but if they were good enough in ET last week then surely they were today. To throw away a 3 point lead with 15 to go and then a 1 point lead deep into injury time was very disappointing.
Once Donegal went ahead, you never felt we would win
Agree with this. If they are on the county panel they should be good enough to play county games. Feel like some lads weren't given as much of a chance as they should have had
Agreed. Jimmy hasn't much faith in his bench either. Three players he took off were put back on again...

Quote from: marty34 on April 25, 2024, 09:31:05 PMDavid, regarding the PPS. How many people work there?

So say a case comes to them from the cops. Do a small group of them look at it and decide to prosecute or is it discussed between a big group and an answer is given?

I was just wondering how it works. I hear PPS mentioned a lot but am just wondering how it is behind the scenes.

Not sure of the exact numbers but around 150 - 200 prosecutors and 300 - 350 support staff split across different regions and specialisms. Cases will be effectively triaged to the correct team and level of seniority. Ultimately it's the directing officers responsibility but they will know seek help and assistance from colleagues and superiors if necessary.

I have recently seen the police decide cases are not worth pursuing and a waste of public expenditure, but are passed to PPS for endorsement, yet the PPS dig in and proceed with the case.

Do the PPS have graduates who they throw minor cases at for them to gain experience?

Quote from: Gaelforce123 on April 29, 2024, 04:34:29 PMI for one enjoyed the game, having went to Clones expecting Down to be on the wrong end of a heavy beating, I was hoping to see what the Management where tactically capable off in order to make a much less physical and skilfully developed team cope with a top 10 team and thats exactly what I got. It was tactically spot on! Frustrated a team in every area they thrive on and hot them for scores outselves, only issue is our pack of ability to shoot from distance. In fact, the final score from Armagh there was a foul on Doherty that the ref didnt call. Was it great free flowing football? no because we would now be reading comments about how poor we are and unable to put it up to better teams if we had of tried. Tyrone and Donegal have won Ulsters playing frustrating football, you do what you have to. There are no rules that will change football back to the 90's. Coaches and backroom teams are too smart and  professional now to use rules to advantage. Just leave game alone. Same people complaining probably spend a few hundred pound to fly to england and watch 90 mins of 0-0 scoreline and lads falling like they broke their leg and walk with the ball. Least we get it for £20

Did u not watch Doherty on Saturday diving around the place?? It was embarrassing - I think he got 1 free out of 4 diving attempts. But in the Down club championship he gets all of them frees as our referees fall for them every time.
U20s win the Leo Murphy cup tonight - Laverty should introduce a few of them to the panel going into the B cup. Time a few were cut adrift as they are not getting near the match day squads.

Who would you take up?

Doran is the only one who would make senior,  the rest forget

Only 1 player from the whole group?
Write the rest off? They were in an extremely tough group. Drew with Tyrone who are in the final.

I will be going to Clones, and not drinking, and will fight anyone who I think is going to start fighting.

(Apols for the Oxford comma. If you don't like it then I'll see you outside the Gerry Arthurs Stand at half time.)

Can the PPS back off with the prosecution (eg after 6 months) but reserve the right to take it up again in the future?
