Have seen the proposals. Genuine question but how can they expect promotion and relegation to work and clubs be OK with it? For example to 2 proposals that suggest groups. Will these groups be seeded? Says on the proposal drawn from a hat, how in any way is that fair. For example in division 2 there are a few big hitters let's say the 5 or 6 big teams are drawn in the same section and then say 2 mid table teams are added. How is it fair that they've to compete against the big 6 and face relegation for coming bottom of the group while the other section is a lot weaker? Sqme argument applies to promotion. Surely either groups have to be seeded or no relegation or promotion

Any chance of a summary of them?

3 options.

Option 1 is a full 15 game season, from August to November. Clubs would have to play without county players as long as Tyrone are still in All Ireland series. No postponements allowed. Club championship completed before All Ireland series begins.

Option 2 is divide each league in 2.  8 teams. 7 games. Teams in each section to drawn from a hat. Top 2 of each group will play off as league semis, top in one versus second in the other. Bottom teams in each group automatically relegated and to be replaced by lower leagues championship and league winners.

Option 3. League divided into 4. 4 teams,  3 games. Top team from each goes into league semi final. Bottom teams will play off some how, they arent sure how exactly that will work yet.

GetOverTheBar

Could be a bit of gambling on Option 1 from certain clubs on the basis Donegal will beat Tyrone and eliminate them from the AI (assuming there is no backdoor).

the goal was on

So the club calendar doesn't end after 11 weeks? Why did the gaa 11 weeks for clubs to run there club season if in fact you can keep going when county begins?

The clubs have 11 weeks with county players, after that nothing stopping them working away without them. Hopefully Inter county will be a straight knockout and chances are clubs will only be without their county men 1 or 2 weeks (can't see us beating Donegal in Ballybofey) and we could have a decent club season yet.

Has to be Option 1 or option 2, option 3 not fair to clubs in any way. Personally would love option 1 buy option 2 is infinitely more workable. Need promotion and relegation to keep it
competitive but I think bottom team deserves at least a play off if it's option 2

If they are going with splitting the league into 2 groups and have mid week games, it would be best best to split East and West for travelling purposes on a weeknight. They already had these in the fixture revamp proposals in January, so could use that split.

In relation to the 5 or 6 big teams in Division 2, fail to see other than Edendork and maybe Eglish who you would classify as a big team, it's a very even league. That argument could apply to division 1. I think you need to include promotion and relegation in it, otherwise after 2 or 3 games the competition can become meaningless for teams if they haven't got a good start. The championship winners will also expect to be promoted.

There is also the argument that the East/West split in division one may not be exactly fair either. 6 of the 8 teams on the West side are capable of winning an O'Neill cup, Pomeroy and Loughmacrory being the 2 exceptions. There isn't the same quality on the east side.

Option 1 all the way

Option 2 looks more sensible to me. Option 1 involves dragging the season into bad weather and if a second wave were to hit make it a farce. Option 2 would allow a nice sharp season.

Also with option 1 there'll be big issue with county men if Tyrone have a run. Teams with county players won't want to be relegated due to having weak teams out. If they scrap relegation then there's a risk of meaningless games after the championship. Even with relegation teams out of championship and safe will no doubt throw in the towel earlier than normal even. Leading to points thrown all over the show.

Has to be option 2. Not ideal but best option considering the circumstances.

According to Teamtalk
"Adult leagues to be divided into two groups of 8 offering a minimum of 7 competitive games to each participating team. These leagues would commence on 31st July and, on completion of the first four rounds, the three football championships JFC, IFC and SFC begin as already drawn."

The proposal has been sent out to Clubs tonight. Hectic to say the least.

Fair play to the co board. Great proposal

LETS PLAY BALL

Goals_Will_Come

The proposal is very well put together. 7 league games and with promotion and relegation keeps it competitive. Championship still in its current format is welcomed to. So plenty of football thank god. Championship finished more or less for Inter-County trainig return.
Few things but to question, after a long lay off the players will be expected to play 4 games in 10 days in the first 2 weekends, just before the championship first round the following weekend. Big ask of players.
You also have minor games overlapping with senior games during the first few weeks, some of these players will be on their senior and reserve panels so some could be playing Friday Saturday Sunday, so that will need addressed.

omagh_gael

Mighty stuff. Great proposal for the reserve league too with the knockout getting a clear run in September.

Well done to fixture makers.Hopefully all will go smoothly and positivity should be the buzz word rather than negativity.
