I have a friend who is asking me to enter the marathon as a late entry as his friend can't do it now. I haven't trained specifically for the marathon but i run quite a bit and done a 10mile lately in 74mins.

I have never done a marathon but have done a couple of half marathons and my longest ever run was about 18mile.

Is it possible or would I be mad to do it?

I did it!

Was well chuffed cause I got a 3:53 - Was so nervous about what was ahead at the start but great to get finished. Great Event - don't think i'l do another :)

Brilliant time well done, my friend finished at the exact time! She'd be a runner for the Dub i think

Thanks - I started in wave 3 so if she was in that wave i'd have been racing her to the finish line! :)

General discussion / Re: Car Servicing/Maintaince
February 12, 2016, 11:09:58 AM
Just noticed the chat here lads, I've had a couple of car problems for a while now. Can anyone provide me with any advice or experience as I took it to a couple of people and then to VW garage who charged me a fortune to get a problem fixed with the fuel pump and then told me they would need to take the car another time to figure out the other fault so I haven't had the desire to leave it back yet considering the money spent on it so far.
I own a 2007 GT Golf (I'm considering selling)
1st problem is the engine management light has been on for over a year and I got someone to put a computer on it and the fault came up as something to do with emmissions and they turned it off but then it comes back on again within a day.
2nd problem and more concerning is the fact that once I drive the car for around an hour the car will lose all power and start to decelerate. I've found that if I flick the ignition off then on whilst going it seems to reset the problem and the car gains power again however it might do it again after every few minutes. Never happens on short journeys just when I'm driving approx. over an hour.

The little note that comes in the invites saying there is a social media ban on photos of the bride and groom and wedding party.

I wouldn't be against this although maybe sending a msg in the invites not the way to do it.

It would bug me if someone was taking photos of me and the other half at the wedding and posting them on FB that minute. Snap away at guests and put them up if they want!

Getting married next year and found this thread interesting.

Re engagement photos - my other half told me that when she booked photographer that she gave us a free engagement shoot in the price which my reply was 'not a f**king chance!' I've had a few friends do them and they are so cringe its unbelievable. If I can manage it there will be minimal photos at the wedding as little as I can get away with whilst trying to keep her happy.

What about the opinions on this – Entrance songs for every couple on the wedding party!!

I hate them – I was on a couple of wedding parties where this was the case and I didn't like it particularly the most recent as the bridesmaid I was paired with was trying to make me run, skip , dance everything on the way in when all I wanted to do was get to my seat as quickly as possible! Just had the conversation with the missus and I told her that I didn't like it and that I would come in with her to entrance music and a clap or two but the rest will just be at the table like the rest of us! She disagreed and called me odd and the debate continues LOL

Kildress got a two point win over Fr Rocks whilst resting a couple of the lads for senior league game tonight.

We don't get to play Fr Rocks as often these days but great to bate them on their home batch!  ;D

Yeah his grandfather ran it I think. The tavern as it was known in these parts - no longer going but apparently back in the day it was the place to be!!!  :D

Back end of nowhere  it was

A bit like Gortin!

Why on earth would Mulgrew play for Kildress anyway?

Someone obviously made this up to start a wind up but to answer your question if he were to leave Cookstown Kildress could be his next team as the Mulgrew family hail from Kildress but to be fair Raymie was born and rared in the town.

Cookstown rumoured to have lost raymie Mulgrew to kildress! He trained last wk with the tones!

That won't do his tyrone career any good but the tones could use a player of his ability!

With an understrength Cross, this year's Ulster championship has been rendered pointless.

And rightly so. Ballinderry & Glenswilly ffs......a bad year.

A bit harsh - two very good teams your talking about there. Glad st galls and cross gone leaves it more interesting this year!

Is that 2 almost derbies now?
Only Augher separating Eskra and Truagh. Is it just Aghaloo separating Kileeshil and Emyvale?

I was thinking something similar myself but would one of the parishes that make up errigal Ciaran not separate killeeshil from emyvale? Carnteel possibly? Still two teams v close for it to happen.

Cookstown is not the east!!!!
i would say cookstown, kildress and rock are all east tyrone.

They are all east I would say - Kildress being the trickiest one but as it's in Cookstown district I'd say its east. I would cut off East Tyrone where Kildress meets Carrickmore (i.e. Creggan)
