Went parachuting, the instructor let me take up my camera, got a few unique ones. Mebbe only good if you're in them, but sure anyway... Was hoping to catch a few boys filling the togs, but unfortunately everyone was in hard man mode (except possibly me, but I was taking the pics  ;))

Any results from the league last night?

well to further blur the lines, a quote from 'best things heard at a match':

"Another one I heard was a young Damien Reilly marking Nudie Hughes. The game throws in and Nudie says to him - "fine big crowd on the hill today Damien". Damien has a look and turns back to the game and there is the bould Nudie 30 yards away banging the ball over the bar!"

This is similar imo, but i think most ppl would applaud this - "the opponent should have known better, etc". I certainly smile at it. I think there is no harm in trying tactics like this, most sport is a battle of wits as much as anything else. With regards calls, should not the opponent know better than to leave it for someone on the oposition team?  ;)

HHNB, I posted the message you are referring to. It was very tongue in cheek, and I was trying to demonstrate how ridiculous the rule is. Calling an opponents name to leave it is undoubtedly more sneaky than just calling 'leave it', yet while the ref will blow for the second, he wont for the first. Hows he supposed to know the names of all the players? As far as hes concerned hes just heard a valid call. Anyway, imo any decent player should have an awareness of who is around him, and shouldn't obey calls unless there is no doubt where it came from. I would draw a strong distinction between trying to confuse your opponent for an advantage, and physically fouling/diving to gain advantage from the referee; in that I see the first as 'cute' and have a admiration for it (with a wee 'tut tut'), but I have no time for the 2nd.

Glad that ginger tr**p was sacked - the irish one surprised me by being pretty timid when leader. Alex is going up imo. Hes a dangerous fecker, but he called it like he seen it the other night, saying clare should go for interrupting him, even tho it seemed like some of the others were easier targets. Him or raef i reckon. Michaels the greatest p***k i've ever seen on tv, and thats saying something

No matter how many players have fallen out with the manager, no matter how many injuries there are, no matter how many hammerings they got in the league, no matter that they're in the 'bad half' of the draw (every year) no matter that all history, commonsense, and a basic gaa knowledge points to an early exit  - come championship time hope springs; and you really do believe, 'This could be the year, boys!!!'

You do feel like an awful p***k after the game tho, especially if you've actually said latter statement to someone ...  :-[

Let us know how it went - was at top of the first hill in ormeau park cheering you! Trying to rem if seen antrim vest.. Planning on doing dublin in november, i've exams at min (hence all the computer time!) which stopped me doing this 1. Think gonna have to do dublin - had job interview, told them enjoyed all sports, and planned to run marathon in near future. They showed great interest, and asked me which 1, had to say dublin. Got the job, so reckon stuck now. Tho spose could always say '...at my interview?? You didn't believe that, did you?!'  ;)

Started playing a wee bit of soccer a couple of yrs ago, and coming from gaelic where you can shout what you want, got caught out by this stupid rule on more than 1 occasion. Its even more frustrating, because invariably when you get the free given against you, you're in an attacking position yourself.
Btw,in my experience its as everyone says, shout a name and you're ok, but 'my ball' or 'leave it' isn't, presumably because it could confuse opposition players.
I'm gonna get the fu*kers tho: I'm waiting for an opportunity, then i'm going to shout an opponents name, in the hope his team mate leaves it. Work that one out ref!

Lets get this party started...from aertel, so sue rte for errors, not me...

Division 1
Lisnaskea          0-10   2-08   Teemore
Belcoo             0-10   0-09   Tempo
Devenish         1-11   0-09   Brookeboro
St Patricks       0-08   0-13   Enniskillen
Derrygonnelly   1-06   1-07   Newtownbutler

Division 2
Aughadumsee   0-07   5-08   Derrylin
Roslea              0-15   2-08   Erne gaels
St Josephs        2-10   3-09   Irvinestown

Just casting an eye down them, no major shocks. Erne Gaels v close to Roslea - they were fancied to walk div 2, mebbe believed it themselves. Another point, which is strongly related to our intercounty problems - v low scoring games, most of them. In honour of all the stats creeping into gaa, i've done my own: winning teams scored on average 12 scores. Bad forwards? Or good backs? :-\
Any match reports, comments?

That victoria square viewpoint - just tried to go up it there- waited ages on the lifts, full, so walked up all the stairs, got to entrance, was informed can only get up to viewpoint by getting ticket at customer service desk. Where? AT THE FU*KING BOTTOM. No signs, nothing (i hope - there may have been a big neon 1). Belfasts 1 big chance to let me look down on it, and it blew it!!!
