Seriously, who's available and who might be available after the world cup??ottmar hitzfeld is a serious manager, wonder if he could be lured away from the Swiss job??

I genuinely don't see how you could attract any manager to the job. All they have to do is see whats gone on in recent times and the uncertainty over the ownership and finances available.

I had this terrible nightmare of Fat Sam standing infront of the "This is Anfield" sign stating that this was the only job, apart from the England job, which he'd leave blackburn for and then announce then he was resigning Diouf to replace Torres.  :-[

I think as fans we're becoming increasing obsessed with the finance end of things at our big clubs. I'm pretty sure the Liverpool job is still an attractive one to all but maybe 3-4 of the biggest managers.

I'd disagree with you bingo about Rafa having them over a barrel, ultimately the money men will always win as they appear to have done again.

Is this good or bad for Liverpool? Will the players rumoured to be unsettled be more or less likely to stay??

Mark Hughes anyone????

But thats the thing Boycey, we don't want a run of the mill manager. We want/need one of the top managers for the job and i'm not including the Fergies, Wengers in that top 4 as they are untouchable in there current role. Liverpool should be attractive for the likes of Mourinho but we seem to be aiming at Curbs or Hughes (sacked by a rival for not been able to go the extra mile).

Football is unfortunatley all about money now, hence the obsession.

The wall to wall news coverage on Sky news was disgusting last night, the modern media has certainly no conscience when it somes to 'the story'.

Baffled by this! You watched it all then? They will report it as such cause A: It was a major story B: People like you tuned in to watch it.

RIP to all victims and their families. Senseless killings.

All joking aside lads. Some of the names floating about as a replacement for Rafa are not very ambitious, but I suppose it is not the attractive job as it should be given the finance available.

Thats the key thing and seems to be missed on alot of Liverpool supporters (not nessecerily ones on here), where does the club go now? Alan f**king Curbishley???? If Rafa walks we'll be left with a yes man in charge and players coming and going to beat the band. The club is already behind the main pack and I fear that more unheaval will put us light years behind. At least Rafa had the yanks over a brallel and was willing to take them on.

Any decision on managers should have been left to new owners. Simple.

Banty interview on Talk radio whatever the feck its called.  He was asked about Grimley and what has he brought? any change to game plan?
Banty doesn't react too well when 'change' is mentioned,  a bit of a sharp edge in his reply, dismissing the notion of change (being needed) in the Monaghan game, 'we will be doing what we have been doing well over the past 4 years'. 'That Paul has brought some fine tuning our game, he challenges people,  challenges players, challenges the manager and is a very good coach'.

The rest was pretty much a repeat of the quotes in the newspaper.
'Armagh have the pedigree over the last decade in Ulster GAA and are coming to this game on the back of some good victories.'
I am not going to be building up Armagh, Monaghan have been  knocking on the door and at least we are  still here knocking on the door, Monaghan have no fear of Armagh or the game ahead'

Listening between the lines I could almost hear  Banty  - Lust for Glory,
"we will cut out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks".

So we can look forward to a disappointing first round Ulster championship exit then?

'Grimley factor a worry for O'Rourke'

http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=129893

It remains to be seen how big an advantage this really is..

The favourites tags gets batted back by POR after Banty biggin up Armagh yesterday...

A rather lame attempt by Paddy,
"Monaghan strong favourites"
;D

What Paddy hasn't copped onto, is to keep it within the realms of believability.

Banty has the clear edge in the pre match rambles, combining respect and belief without resorting to theoretical factors.
"We know how credible Armagh are and how hard they are to beat. Monaghan respect Armagh. We don't fear anybody, whether we're underdogs or not," he added.

Good post, accurate and the Monaghan men dont bother with the bulshit, they told it like it is, Paddy would do well to learn from this.

Monaghan post as much bullshit as Armagh, only difference is they got it in first. Both sides trying to grab the underdog tab. Schoolboy stuff and should have little merit on the day.

Ulster Council issuing traffic info

Information for Patrons travelling to Monaghan v Armagh game in Casement Park, Belfast on Sunday – Received from Stephen McGeehan, Ulster Council.

Due to major maintenance work on Sprucefield Bridge on the M1 (junction 7) a series of contra flow arrangements, will be in place for this Sunday's fixture in Casement Park.
Supporters travelling via the A1 will be able to re-join the motorway at Blaris Roundabout.  Please note that while there are contra flows in operation that there are two lanes maintained thereafter to enable vehicles to continue their journeys to and from the city.

As a result of these works supporters travelling via the M1 can expect some delays and we are advising GAA supporters to allow up to an additional 30 minutes for their journey to the game.  Those travelling on the M1 are asked to exit at Stockman's
Lane where electronic signage will be in place to direct them to the Car Parking in the Boucher area.

There will be significant additional car parking available at the Boucher Road for GAA supporters on the day as well as the other Car Parks including Woodlands Playing Pitches and at Blackstaff  Road and other public and retail facilities in the City.

We are maintaining daily contact with Road Service Traffic Control Centre and will keep you updated on any developments as they happen.

My mate has an Irish passport which he has just doscovered has expired.

He's booked to go to USA in about 10 days or so.

Can he still go to passport office in Dublin and get it renewed there and then ????

Thanks for your help.

I do wonder about people at times, has he been aware of the recent shite over passports at all??

So this is all a big trick, the Glazers on the phone to the Red Knights at the minute begging them to come back to the table and buy the club.  ::)

In the same way there was a ''mystery buyer from the middle east'' offering 1.5 billion a few weeks ago ::)

I would say there is plenty of business going on behind the scenes and the general public are being fed bits of rubbish like both of the above.

Nothing publically will happen until after the World Cup and even then it will be slow.

I expect the Glazers to start the season as Utd owners but not finish.

I know this is all a game of cat and mouse but I just can't see this Red Knights deal getting off the ground, obviously as they say, the Glazers are overvaluing and until such time as this price drops significantly, then it is merely a pipe dream. The sums involved, at present, are too large. Same as H&G are quoting for Liverpool.

For either club, I don't think we can see a supporter driven group buying either club from the current regimes. While they have the support base, when it boils down to it, I can't see enough forking out the individual sums required to make up the bid. Or the main players agreeing on the set-up of the deal or power sharing. I was told that this was also a major stumbling block with the red knights.

Its an ideal set-up but I think that the price on the big clubs is too large, while the smaller clubs may not have the fanbase to generate the funds either.

If driving, the other journey no one has pointed out is to stay in the overtaking lane of the M1, go on past the Stockman's Lane roundabout where the tailbacks will be, and either come off at Broadway and park on the Falls or right on into the city centre and get a black taxi to the ground. Free parking on the streets on a Sunday or the multi-story in Castle St is only a few £s.

V. Down that year where there was big problems, all lanes where blocked/at a snails pace, it was only when you got close to the junction that you could actually drive the car, damage was done at that stage. Even the hard shoulder was useless with cars overheating and breaking down/colling off on them.

Jaysus, this thread is dying a death. Two weeks ago it was flat out, must be nerves  ;D

Malone will be a miss after a solid if unspectatular league, when I heard about it last week, word was that he could be out for year. So hopefully the operation went well and he'll be back in 6/7 weeks.

I fear this will open the door for Banty to re-instate Damian Freeman into starting line-up and see him dropped into the backs as sweeper.

Red Knights Bid Abandoned

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/10212982.stm

Is this proof that a fan based scheme will never be able to buy one of the big clubs in England? Far too much investment required and able to get agreement between the major players involved will always be difficult. I thought this had legs to go further.

This was mentioned in the Star on Sunday as well.

Do agree with others that if his old man gets the derry job, he will come back and play for him.

Or is it a message to the County board to appoint his old man or he'll walk away?
