The Division 1 derby game yesterday between Moy and Eglish was a rather low-key affair....Sean Quinn from Brackaville refereed it well and the only bother he had was when the Eglish corner forward rather foolishly gave him some verbal abuse two minutes from the end.  The Eglish lad was sent-off and will now miss the championship match against Omagh next weekend.

While we are delighted with the result, which moves us up to third in the table and keeps our unbeaten record intact, yesterday's match was riddled with errors and we made serious hard work of it at times.  I don't think the Ardboe contingent in the crowd will have been quaking in their boots at our display and, after trouncing Trillick last Thursday night, the loughshore men will definitely start favourites in our big championship clash next Saturday night.  I just hope we can give the Rossas a good game.

Our main priority of course is to secure three or four more wins in the league which should keep us in Division 1 next season.

You are barking up the wrong tree if you think I am going to give you Woods' address.

Yep, Mr Seamus Woods from Drumragh will see to it that the Antrim player goes down for a very long time.  We could be looking at a life sentence.

Fair play to ya, ardmhachaabu, better late than never!

hardstation, don't be getting a-head of yourself.....the Antrim player is innocent until proven guilty.  If he does get 4-6 weeks, I hope he has a shoulder to cry on.

Not much of a mention of the antrim
number 21`s assault in the sligo match yesterday.By the way were is the all the people that slagged
of ricey and tommy mc guigan wrote about i dont know how many pages of garbage, yet no mention of this assault y-day.
The sligo man was lucky he was able 2 get up.Has the BOARD MEMBERS gone 2 sleep in the last 24hrs?Are maybe us tyronies
are right to feel victimised, nobody can say this match was not on tv and nobody seen it.I expect after everybody has read this
post their will maybe get 50 till 60 posts in the next few days!

It looks like the Antrim player in question could be facing a suspension after all, based on video evidence.  It would appear that 'up tyrone' has the same influence and power in getting players suspended than those know-it-all analysts working for Setanta!!!

The point made by 'up tyrone' is a good one, though.  Many of those who expressed their horror and disgust at the actions of Ryan McMenamin and Tommy McGuigan in live televised NFL games this year strangely had no comment to make in relation to the very dangerous incident in the Antrim-Sligo game.  I suppose it is proof that there are do-gooders on this Board (mostly from Armagh, might I add) who are very selective when it comes to condemning players actions.

Division 1 Result tonight: Ardboe 2-10  Trillick 0-6.
Big result for Ardboe ahead of their championship clash with Moy on May 9th.
Errigal Ciaran and Moy now the only unbeaten teams in the first division.

The Hill beat the Clarkes by a point tonight in Division 3.
Dungannon could be staying in junior football for at least another year.

An Mhaigh were involved in another fiercely contested and stirring encounter today at Pairc Thír na nÓg.  Donaghmore are a fine side and it was great to pick up our first league win of the season after a very tough battle.  It is pleasing to see our players rising to these challenges each week in Division 1.  We are unbeaten after three games which is a big change from this time last year when we had lost two of our opening three games in Division 2!!!!!  We have another huge challenge ahead of us next week when we travel to Dromore.  The games don't get any easier...

Did I hear that our neighbours Eglish had two of the Martins sent off in Kildress today?  It is rumoured that Conall Martin got a straight red.  If so, that would be a huge blow for them with the first round of the championship just around the corner.  Can anyone confirm this?

Peter Donnelly is mighty! He put his heart and soul into the Tyrone set up and has given a hell of a lot at minor, U21 and senior. Some remarks about him on this board at times were very nasty and he has also got a few snide touches from them eejits on Q101...shameful.
Peter is one of the good guys. Having met him on quite anumber of occasions he certainly is a gentleman. Good luck to him.

I couldn't agree more.  Peter is one very sound fella and has been a great servant to Tyrone at minor, under 21 and senior level.  He is a very strong, committed and versatile footballer who was worthy of his place on the county senior squad.  The Fianna will benefit big time from Peter's decision to leave the county set-up as he will now be available for all of their games this year.  Any club in the county would love to have a player like Peter Donnelly on their team.

according to orchardcounty middletown beat pormor

Middletown had ten or eleven points to spare over a very young and inexperienced An Port Mor side last night in Division 3. The Port Mor team was severely depleted for their league opener on home soil, fielding several of their minor side and other fringe players due to a spate of injuries, retirements and suspensions.  The final scoreline flattered Middletown a bit as the sides were level (0-4 to 0-4) early in the second half.  The visitors were also helped by some erratic refereeing during those final thirty minutes, winning a number of handy frees close to goal and being awarded a very dubious penalty which knocked the heart out of An Port Mor's challenge.

congress has voted against the new rules

Excellent news.  However, I fear that some very prominent GAA administrators will have had their pride dented by this decision and an even bigger effort will be made to get these silly new rules passed next year.

Tyrone beat Antrim 1-14 to 1-7 earlier today in Dungannon.  It was a much more uncomfortable win for Tyrone than the final scoreline would suggest, with the Red Hands only pulling away in the final quarter.  Conditions were perfect at O'Neill Park but the standard of play was poor enough for long periods.  Tyrone appeared to be missing quite a few regulars and struggled for the most part to shake off a rather limited Antrim challenge.

Tyrone led 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time, but Antrim were proving more than a match for the home side and a goal by the Saffrons in the early stages of the second half saw them reduce the deficit to just a point entering the final twenty minutes.  Then, after a small bit of pushing and shoving off the ball, one of the Antrim players while moving away from the melee began to roar at the top of his voice: "COME ON ANTRIM....WE HAVE THEM RATTLED NOW!"  Antrim scored just one more point after that while Tyrone hit their only purple patch of the game to record a somewhat flattering eight point win.

Corner back Shea McGarrity and midfielder Sean Warnock were among Tyrone's best players in the first half while Kiefer Morgan and Niall Gavin were the winners' trump cards in attack after the break.  In full forward Gavin, who kicked some fine scores from play and placed balls, Derrytresk could have another Francie Burke in the making. He clearly has the potential to take over from the legendary Burke as the Hill's most famous footballer.

Great result for Galbally tonight beating Dromore at home by two points.  I am hearing that the Galbally goalie saved a penalty from Colm McCullagh near the end of the game.

I forgot to mention earlier that Sean Cavanagh was Moy's top scorer in the draw against Coalisland.  He kicked six points (3 from play) and was our only scorer in the second half.  Philly Jordan also kicked two good points from play in the first half.

It looks like being an extremely competitive Division 1 this season.  I reckon teams could need at least 12 or 13 points just to stay up!!!

Yep, Kildress drew at home to Donaghmore 0-11 to 1-8 last Saturday.

Errigal beat Eglish tonight 1-10 to 1-6.  I think Trillick beat Killyclogher by a point.

Fianna were OK but I was a bit disappointed that we dropped a point tonight.  I suppose our display against your own team the week previous raised expectations of better things.  However, as you say, two points from two games is not that bad.

Hearing of some major shocks in Division One....Galbally beat Dromore 1-6 to 0-7 while Aghyaran's win against Carrickmore will raise plenty of eyebrows as well!
