Title: 2018 GAA Season Ticket
Post by: Mayo Club 51 on October 23, 2017, 09:51:37 PM
So the GAA season tickets will be up for renewals shortly. Price has increased again this year, Adults €120 and Juveniles to €30. Club + remains at €200.

€120! Effing hell. Not renewing. Won't make all games in 18 anyway.

Seems like they're doing their best to get people off this altogether. Why they'd want that is beyond me though

Unless you're full sure you're making the AI final the rigidity these season tickets aren't worth it. I brought a bunch of my friends who'd never went to Croke Park to the drawn AIQF this year and if I had a season ticket I'd have been stuck in a different section to them all.

I think preferential ticketing should be bundled into fundraising memberships like Club Rossie or the like - I know a whole lot of Club Rossie members who would have loved to attend the U17 AI final this year but the tickets the county did get were just sold on a first come first serve basis and not even offered to the people who actually bankroll the whole endeavour.

But of course that'd involve joined up thinking and the GAA doesn't do that..

You have the "Bring a friend" option with the season ticket for Croke Park, as long as you've only got 5 friends

€120!!!! are they fkn mad?  >:(
7 NFL games and an average of 3 Championship games for the majority of teams.
I presume they want to kill this thing off.
I'll hardly be renewing it at that price unless NFL prices are going up.

The first time they increased it to €85, they brought in the early pre purchase league tickets for €10. Must be going to reduce them further to €5 with this latest price gouging of season tickets.

If we don't make the last 8 I'd have no interest in a "specially discounted ticket" for 3 games involving other Counties.

And end up sitting in the Davin Stand? No thanks. When the season ticket was introduced it was good value and rewarded those who used it with great tickets in the middle of the Cusack. When the bring a friend option was introduced you got tickets on the 45. No value left in it anymore unless you're from Dublin or Mayo and want a guaranteed ticket for the final. Value went when they put €14 on it a couple of years ago, with another €20 on it they are gouging the true supporter now. Plus they increased ticket prices for the AI quarter and semi finals last year, Duffy is leaving some legacy for himself.

Add in the reduction of league tickets to 10 yoyos if bought before hand. Id forgotton too, they charge us 3 euro for postage. Greed it is, pure greed.
*Nothing beats being there*

This year thanks to Donie Smith getting us a replay v the Rhubarbs my season ticket saved me THREE EURO!!!!.
I'll buy a bageen o' sweets to celebrate.

From €75 when it was introduced in 2009 to €120 now is ridiculous increase in a short space of time. I presume the reason for it is because of the "money spinning" super 8 games will be set you back €105 is you wanted to go all 3 games.

I've been saying it for years  there are strong voices in The gaa against this scheme I would suspect its at provincial level or an attempt to get every one to buy the €200 ticket
It has worked out for mayo Kerry and Dublin supporters in the last few years with ALF access but there seem to be little else going for it .
I will be renewing but its getting harder and harder to justify

another thing
how many people have actually handed over €80 for  club tickets in the last year . When I was a regular I almost never paid for a home ticket and even the county final was only €15 euro

There is a queue for Cairde Tickets and the number that can be sold by Co. Board is limited to what it is at the moment. So there is no benefit in terms of getting people to buy €200 tickets as they are not available. In Mayo's case the season tickets count towards the county's full allocation for All Ireland finals. This favours people with deep pockets who got in early, bought multiple tickets and reduce club allocation. Many clubs would prefer if the scheme was abandoned and the tickets went to the clubs to distribute to the deserving (or not .....depending on your view of how clubs deal with tickets)

my decreased attendance is due to geographical reason not age or infirmary .  but any other than a county final I was never even asked for more than  a tenner in to a club game
BTw the Mayo gaa showing games online for €4  is most reasonable price ive seen for anything in a long time

20%  increase  this year.
has their been any justification put forward ? super 8s can't really be used as an excuse as it wont apply to 25 of the counties .
also i cant see any sign of the €5 off championship games

Terrible value and an insult to the most dedicated supporters. As my TV is getting bigger and better, the cost of going to games is rising. The armchair is looking more appealing every year.

The cost of rolling up to a match is actually quite cheap. The lack of discount you receive for a season ticket is the issue. Most sports are desperate for more season ticket holders while the GAA seems intent on reducing the number.

On the basis that we're unlikely to make the All Ireland Final I think I'll buy a Laythrum season ticket for next year.
Save €21, can still go to all Ros NFL games including a D2 Final, will get the Leitrim v Ros Championship game included and will still "have access to discounted tickets for the all new group stages".

You're onto a winner there Rossfan. Then buy a terrace/sideline ticket for Connacht final and you save the difference then.

Decreasing value of the season ticket since 2009 (all match's attended, no opt outs).

A guaranteed ticket to the All Ireland final when your county is in it is worth more than the face value of the ticket. That's from someone who has never bought from touts and has gone to the ends of the country to source tickets for finals.

Worth noting that a certain amount of that loss in saving is just a reduced price in cost per match in the league

All set to use ye're not great value season tickets?
€125 +€3 postage for a €1 post letter.
€12 for prepurchased tickets per match.
Hope we make the D2 final and the BIG 8 to get some value out of it :-\

Because I've had one for 9 or 10 years.
Because it used to be good value.
Because I don't have to go to the trouble of buying individual match tickets.
And I'll be guaranteed a ticket when Ros get to the AI Final of course.

Free entry to the Glaveys game for all Season Ticket holders.
2018 won't be bad value after all as I believe is €20 admission.
