okay, so lets travel to dreamland. If youre county hurling or football team could get any three players from any other county who would they be?? state your team and the players!!
Being from fermanagh and in desperate need of a top class target man, id go for:
1) Ronan Clarke
2) Sean Cavanagh
3) Colm cooper
All these players are young, and taking cavanagh and clarke from tyrone and armagh might help us one day win ulster. ah well, back to reality .....
well if them 3 are gone representing my county Tyrone Ill take.
1) Declan Browne
2) Paddy Bradley
3) Darren Fay.
I'd go for Colm Cooper, Conor Gormley and Tomas O'Se for Armagh
Tyrone
1) Paddy Bradley
2) Kieran Donaghy
3) Brendan Devenney
Being from tyrone id take:
1. Darragh O'Se - to play alongside Cavanagh
2. Kieran Donaghy - great target man and his father is from tyrone anyway
3. Francie Bellew - Need someone to maintain FB
Tyrone ........... i would take
1. T O Shea......Consistent year in year out
2. A Brogan.... Undubted talent but without a supporting cast
3. Barry Owens...Steady full back of which there are very few about.
Down.
1. Barry Owens
2. Conor Gormley
3. Seán Cavnagh
All for obvious reasons.
armagh
sean cavanagh
alan brogan
colm cooper
Tyrone
Darragh O'Se
Stevie McDonnell
Colm Cooper
ARMAGH
Sean Cavanagh
Colm Cooper
Ciaran Mc Donald
Cavan
Barry Owens
Paul McGrane
Paddy Bradley
If only...
Offaly
Barry Owens
Ger Spillane
Sean Cavanagh
Armagh
Mattie Forde (to take scoring pressure of stevie)
Sean Cavanagh (to partner mcgrane)
Barry Owens (fill in for bellew this year)
Did we not retire McGrane, Bellew and McGeeney last August ???
We will not be delving into the transfer market, it would taint our attempts at 2-in-a-row if we had unpure Kerry blood involved. It would be terrible if we had to get players from Kildare or some such place to help us win an All Ireland, but then it worked for Cork and they are still living off their successes of 1989 and 1990 :P
MEATH
1: A fit Brian McGuigan
2: Tomás Ó Sé
3: Joe Higgins
Well done realredhandfan by the way, it's nice to see some Fayser appreciation! He's looked very good in the last couple of games. It was like he'd never been away.
GALWAY:
1. Dara O'Se
2. Sean Cavanagh
3. Paul Galvin
Need a midfield and half forward line.
Would all of ye play big Sean at Midfield then?
I'd go for
Tyrone
Darragh O'Shea
Barry Owens
Stevie McDonnell
Can you imagine that FF line
S.O'Neill
Mugsy
Stevie McDonnell
With McGuigan, Dooher and maybe Cavlan supplying them with passes.
I don't think Sean Cavanagh is in the top 10 midfielders in the country. I'd play him wing forward. Any time he comes up against a fielder he is cleaned out.
that half forward line would get dogs abuse fuzzman
armagh
a fit brian mcguigan but in is absence i'd pick C McDonald
D O'Se
C Gormley
your entitled to your opinion Jinxy, however from the evidence of most on this thread so far, he is first or second selection.
PLease name me 10 midfielders better ( in your opinion of course ). I expect to see the likes of d o shea etc. but 10 is just ridiculous
Quoteif we had unpure Kerry blood involved
I've something terrible to tell you about Star.

aye, does big donaghy not have a bit of tyrone blood in him?
3 hurlers for antrim (although more would be great!!!)
1. eoin kelly
2. henry shefflin
3. ronan curran
10 better midfielders coming up.
Dara, McGrane, Whelan, Clancy, O'Neill, Gallagher, Murphy, McGarritty, Ward, Quigley.
All of these are better at winning primary possession. I'm not saying they are better players, but they are better out and out midfieders. Cavanagh is a wing forward who stands centre-field for the kick outs. When Whelan was in the humour in 2005 he absolutely cleaned him out.
For Mayo
Bellew
dara o'shea
Donaghy (because then he won't be playing against us!)
When Welan achieves half as much as Sean Cavanagh from midfield look us up,give us a ring and we'll join the Sinead O Connor priesthood as well..
You are mad sir!
Cavanagh is moved out of midfield from time to time. Think he ended up wing forward against Dublin in 2005. None of the rest of the players I mentioned are ever played anywhere but midfield.
Jinxy, catch yourself on. I think on the evidence in this poll that people hold Cavanagh in the high esteem that he should be held in. Cavanagh is one of the top 2 midfielders. If your definition of a midfielder is 'fielder of ball', then you would maybe have a point. But midfield involves alot more than simply catching a ball, and alot of these skills are what Cavanagh excels at - picking up break ball, great awareness and great running ability and endurance. How many of these 10 'better midfielders' perform to cavanaghs level at the other attributes that make up a midfielder?
For Armagh I would take
A fit McGuigan
McDonald
Darragh O' Se
For Derry:
Marc O'Sé
Paul Galvin
Padraig Joyce
Jinxy: Word of advice. Don't go round slagging off Tyrone players when Tyrone people are reading. Talk about precious!
the words of a madman ;)
Derry Football
Need a half forward line
Kieran McDonald
Paul Galvin
Sean Cavanagh
Derry Hurling

Tommy Wash

A tight, fast corner back is worth his weight in gold.
P.S. I stand by my Sean Cavanagh comments. No Surrender!
Down:
1 Eoin Kelly (Tipp)
2 Henry Shefflin
3 John Gardiner

Mayo:
Barry Owens
Conor Gormley
Dara O' Se
As much as our Tyrone friends would like to claim Mr Donaghy he qualifies under Kerry Mikes criteria. Great photo of a very young Donaghy at the Kerry v Cork replay in '87.
Three players for Kerry - I'd pick
Mike Mac
The pony
Eamon Fitzmaurice.
Keep it pure lads.......
For Derry
1. McDonald
2. Cooper
3. Darragh O Se
For Dublin
Darragh O'Se
Kieran Donaghy
Graham Canty
Agree with the comments about Cavanagh being more a wing forward than a mid-fielder.....
For Armagh:
Paddy Bradley
Kieran Donaghy
Conor Gormley

if ronan clarke was always fit would another player not be a better option than donaghy?
Who do you have in mind?
For Armagh
1) C Gormly
2) B Dooher
3) J Masters
QuoteWho do you have in mind?
a more youthful back back like barry owens. armaghs backs are ticking on a bit!! geezer cant play forever
For Antrim hurling i'd pick
Henry Shefflin
Jerry O'Conner
Ronan Curran
For Dublin I'd pick:
Graham Canty
Kieran Donaghy
Mattie Forde
I notice that not one person has picked a keeper! Do we all have brilliant keepers or do we not see them as particularly important to our teams chances?
Well, our keeper is an ex-professional soccer goalie with great hands and a very good kick-out so I'm happy enough.
1. Paul Galvin - Not a superstar but a great teamplayer sometimes far more important, give Mayo needed cynical edge.
2. Darragh O'Se - Tough Midfielder beside Ronan McGarrity, freeing up David Brady.
3. Kieran Donaghy - great to see defences confused as to if the ball would go over their heads to Star or low into Conor.
Also would mean Kerry wouldn't have them and we would be quids in for Sam.
Fermanagh
1 Brian McGuigan
2 Steven McDonnell
3 Ger Spillane
Quoteaye, does big donaghy not have a bit of tyrone blood in him?
Its ok, we made him do a transfusion before he was allowed join the Kerry panel. He's all better now.
