Would give up the the FA cup to get fourth surely?

I'm not sure I would.

People remember trophies rather than fourth spot. So I'd take the cup over fourth. Plus, if Ole gets the job ft, maybe a season out of the CL will allow him to build away from the pressures of all that.

I'd bet one of the requirements for Ole to get the job full time is to finish in the top 4 and this same United board didn't take a cup over fourth when they got rid of Van Gaal.

Van Gaal got a very handy draw right through the FA cup that year. But he was sacked because he played the most mindnumbingly boring football over two whole seasons.
I don't think the business men in the board room care much about the style of football. They care about profits and Champions league football is big money even if you make an exit at last 16 stage like United will this season.

The difference between exiting the champions league at last 16 and the amount received for reaching the final or winning the competition is also huge.

And a huge difference in the amount of money received for a last 16 place in the champions league than a FA Cup run.

From a fans perspective it should be all about winning something, finishing 4th won't give you a warm glow inside..

Yeah I bet LvG still gets that warm fuzzy feeling remembering the Monday after his FA Cup win 🤔🤔

The bit in bold is the important bit...

That story has been knocking around this long time, it's grown legs again with Richard Arnold United's Managing Director spending a lot of time over there. Personally I abhor the idea of it happening but I suppose it'd make the press conferences interesting  :o

By the way your link doesn't work.

Trivia fans Richard Arnold is Trent Alexander Arnold's uncle.

No he's not!

Can understand the odds as Chelsea have been very good at home this season with i think just one defeat. DeGea not starting but expected for a domestic cup game. Higuain,Hazard will likely have joy against Smalling,Young. Due to injuries Lukaku given a start will he prove his worth tonight?

Milltown Row2

Fancy Hazard score first 2-0..

Utd will soak up too much pressure to keep them scoreless. Rashford on the break can nick a goal but can't see it
