Well done John. Have you any details yet about when you will start collecting for the next run and also locations here in Tyrone where we can make donations? Also what sort of donations/items will you be looking for this time?  Keep up the great work.

General discussion / Re: Clare Balding

I have posted here before about the lack of thought that goes into some posts and their personal nature, mainly when its directed at our own unpaid GAA people. However I never thought I would post on a thread about Clare Balding after her ultra poor performance at the Grand National. But that has to the most crass post i have ever seen on this board and I was a reader for years befor I joined. Totally Crass! and pointless.

I have a question for those of you posters who have have argued  that there were those in society who must have stood by when they were bound to know this was happening and did nothing. Where you out in the streets when war and death and destruction was directed at Iraq? A war declared in all our names and in which our countries played an active part. Did you do all you could do to stop it? How will history judge us? This is such a tragic story but i feel its wrong to judge others were subservient to important members of society at that time.

GAA Discussion / Re: Páraic Duffy speaks out!

I wonder how some of the media and powers that be would have reacted if this claim had been made by a poster on a GAA discussion board. No doubt they would have been asked/told to back up these remarks or shut up!

I agree with O'Neills coment chelsea's reaction was unprofessional but understandable, again objectivity is lost in all the bitterness. How many of those penalties would Manchester United have been given if they had been playing at home. No time for chelsea by the way!

General discussion / Re: Belfast Marathon
May 05, 2009, 10:55:44 AM
Myself and a few friends did the race yesterday, walking the relay for charity. When we got to various change over points there were no busses to take us back to the city centre. At one point walkers/runners had to cross both lanes of a dual carrageway avoiding traffic as best they could. If Belfast wants to include walkers as part of its relay programme they should cater for them as they claimed they would in their promotional material. Majority of the organisation yesterday was excellent and fair play to all those people who worker hard to ensure this was so. However some parts we very poor and the telephone  helpline was on answer machine when contacted yesterday. A mixed bag to be honest and did i draw the short straw with the Antrim Road section.

I was in Norway a few years back. The best thing about Norway is its natural beauty. I would spend some time driving along is coast. The views are stunning! The countryside in general is very clean beautiful to drive through.

I think this is an excellent game to give some of the fringe players a chance. Its also a good game to let some of the more established start to make a stronger push for a starting place. Galway are a sporting team who normally play good open football. I think this could be a cracker of a game despite the weather forecast. Let's hope so! To get us back chatting about football rather than incidents.

Sri Lanka were only touring because the Indian team decided not to travel after recent attacks in India. Once again sport and politics mix, as they almost always do!

Spot on O'Neill. A good call by the mods a thread on a football match goes to 65 pages with little chat about football towards the end. Also Ard. I agree with the remark about what is said in a bar, however there were 17,000 odds vews of the afore mentioned thread. I meant this to be about the general issue of abusing our GAA stars. Mods feel free to lock this one as well. No problems.

Some of the posts on this board are not far short of the comments on that link. However my specific issue is that in the coming weeks some other player from whatever county will be ripped apart on this board in a similar abusive manner. Remember that these people have families who are also hurt by this venom.
