Guidelines for Clubs following Positive Covid 19 testing

QuoteFollowing the recent Positive Testing from one of our Clubs in Tyrone for the COVID-19 virus since last weekend, resulting in his Club suspending all activities on becoming aware of the situation. Similarly the Club which played in a an official fixture against this player's Club also decided to suspend its activities. Since then, players and officials and their families of both Clubs have been provided with COVID-19 virus tests, and the outcomes are awaited.

It is timely to remind all members of all our Clubs as to the importance of adhering to all of the guidelines from Government sources, the Health Authorities and this Association, that have been circulated during the past few months.

Clubs must act upon and implement the guidelines, directives and advice that is being provided, even though it may be very difficult to do so, at times.

Special attention is again drawn to the directive that changing rooms should not be open yet, and that there should be No Spectators in attendance at games (other than a parent / guardian who is transporting a youth player).

Failure to comply fully with the guidelines issued will result in the continued spreading of the infection, and a possible reversion to another shutdown of GAA activities.

Read the first paragraph of that statement - it doesn't make any sense! Who writes these things?

the goal was on

Guidance re. Changing rooms has been in place since the reopening. Further guidance also reinforced the position was still the same. If Eglish decided to use changing rooms then that is highly dangerous and negligent decision making. You can't wash over such a fragrant breach of its true. It might be better to keep the gates closed if this is the behaviour of clubs .

If clubs and players have as reported taken risks and gone against the regulations on the first weekend of the new season, I honestly worry to think what will be going on when we are 6 weeks down the road and into latter stages of the championships. Every player and club will be trying to gain an advantage and Covid19 rules and regulations will not be a priority.

Better to call the whole thing off totally or forget about all the regulations.

Did Eglish use the changing rooms?

Another case in Armagh today
That's 15 clubs in Ulster in space of a week that have closed gates.
Not a chance the season is finishing & the inter county season is a non starter
Bringing players from all over a county to meet up - no hope

I agree, the whole thing is going to implode on itself.  The GAA should have just came out and said "no games".

Supporters moseying into club grounds, players in huddles, the return to play website is a box ticking exercise.  Bit of a shambles all of it
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

Agree, a total farce.

When you see crowds at matches, nobody gives a f**k in reality and clubs couldn't care less.

so supporters cant stay at home whats wrong with these people.

The number of cases across the country North and South doesn't suggest that the season won't be finished. There was 1 case in a club in Tyrone, hardly null and void stuff. Similiar situation in armagh. To see the season not being finished you are going to need a massive increase in cases and at present that isn't what is happening across the country.
Eglish didn't handle the first weekend well but what it should mean is that other clubs will now see the risks of what Eglish did and follow the guidelines that are in place, so going forward clubs won't let the likes of changing rooms be used until they are given the go ahead to use them. Thankfully the supporters situation has now been cleared up with the executive allowing supporters into outdoor sporting events.

Being reported that NI Executive to allow spectators at outdoor venues before the this weekend

It is being allowed from Friday. They do not appear to have specified any limit.
Should clubs limit Numbers to 200 to align with the Republic?

Gaa have come up with own guidance. 250-400 Max depending on type of ground.

But the club statement contained blatant falsehoods

QuoteThe club has at all times since resuming activities adhered to GAA and Public Health guidelines...

That's patently not true if the changing rooms were open. Why would the club's word be taken on anything else?

If my information is correct and this is linked to an outbreak on a building site in Dublin, the story was reported on Monday that there were up to 20 positives on the site, the news was reported on Monday not Tuesday. Thus the testing took place before Monday?

I guess both you and Glenman were wrong and we're indeed found to be peddling false rumours. I love seeing slobbers getting caught out.
